"Class Envy"

Hey folks,

Sorry I was not able to make it in yesterday. Family day. I tried to sneak into the office but got caught. {Smile} But it’s Sunday, time for the "Just My Thoughts" and the "IWA" segments.

"Keeping up with the Jones’s" is pretty much human nature. Everyone wants to have the nicest of biggest house, car, or whatever. Why do you think that there are so many of these million dollar cooky cutter housing developments popping up all over the place? All the homes look the same. Same size yards. ETC.

But what has become known as "class envy" is when someone is not able to "keep up with the Jones’s," some feel the government should help them do that. Or they should punish the Jones’s for their hard work, so that it is a little more "fair." That is just idiotic.

We live in a great country. The pursuit of happiness can be engaged here. When you are a child, you can strive to learn, understand, and get ready. When you become an adult, you can pursue your dreams. Some make it, some do not. It’s not all about those that can afford the best schools, it’s about hard work and ideas. There are a lot of millionaires out there that never went to college.

But then in this country, after all your hard work, after seeing your ideas efflorescence, that want to take what you have done and give it to those that did NOTHING. Just so those that did nothing, can feel better about themselves.

This article in the USA Today on Friday, USA Today-Civil rights for a new generation was talking about Civil Rights, and the fact that "Civil rights groups, beset by aging or stagnant membership" are attempting to create new membership. It talks about how they are now recruiting in schools. It said,

Civil rights groups, beset by aging or stagnant membership, are recasting their messages to appeal to young people. They're putting up discussion boards on youth-oriented websites and talking about jobs, education, housing, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.

"The role of civil rights organizations has evolved," says Marc Morial, president of the National Urban League. He says their priorities in the 1950s and 1960s reflected a lack of black officeholders. Today, with more such elected leaders and victories that include the right to vote, he says the civil rights movement needs to focus on persistent racial disparities in income and education. "Now we're at the stage of closing the economic divide," he says.

Sorry folks, but these groups SPREAD racial divide. Some of their leaders, the very same ones attempting to get NEW MEMBERS , want new members so they can continue to make money. I love this statement.

Young people often don't grasp "civil rights" but they understand "equal rights," says Stephanie Brown, 25, national director of the youth and college division at the NAACP. "We try to put it in terms they understand," she says, because students, unlike their parents or grandparents, may not fully comprehend what it means not to have equal access to education and jobs.

That is because it the year 2007. They do not understand, because they HAVE equal access to education and jobs. Giving them a free ride doesn’t help anything. Saying that those in the inner city schools, will not learn as the others do, so we must pass them on a "curve," does not help. Telling them that they cannot do something because others will not let you, does not help.

Someone in this country, bent down and picked up a rock, look at it, and called it "Bob," making millions of dollars. {Pet Rock} Someone in this country, thought about this spring bouncing down a stair case, made millions of dollars {Slinky} Someone sitting in his garage, thought up this very thing I am talking to you on, made Billions. {Gates}

People are going it alone all the time. They have dreams and work hard to achieve them. That’s the whole point. Yet there are some that call that unfair.

If you are not happy with where you are in life. DO SOMETHING about it. Stop blaming those that have. Stop punishing them for their achievements. Remember this also. Let’s say you do go after your dream and succeed. They will be punishing YOU then too.

Live your life for happiness. Live your life for love. Live your live for YOU. Do not worry about anyone else.
Peter
