The Dems Are Forgetting One Thing

Hey folks,

Happy hump day. As we begin the day that begins the down hill roll to the weekend, AFP {Agence France Presse} has been busy reporting on the Democrats. Their main topic? The Dems opposing President Bush on Iraq, and the Democrat’s attempt to make themselves Commander and Chief. But they, both the AFP and the Democrats seem to be forgetting one thing. Aoocrding to the AFP,

"A top Senate Democrat introduced legislation that would require US President George W. Bush to get congressional approval before sending additional US troops to Iraq.

In a statement, the office of Senator Chris Dodd said the original US military mission in Iraq, which Congress authorized in 2002, "has been radically transformed by events in the region," and that Bush therefore must seek an entirely new authorization from the US legislature before expanding it."

In the statement, Dodd, who called the earlier war authorization "moot and irrelevant," said the bill would cap the number of US troops in Iraq at 130,000.

Dodd proposed his bill after Bush last week last week unveiled plans to send 21,500 more soldiers to Iraq -- a move which has been met with fierce opposition from Democrats in Congress.

WAIT A SECOND!! Who cares? Who cares Mr. Dodd, what YOU think? YOU, as much as you would like to be, are NOT the President of the United States. YOU do not have access to the same information. YOU are not truly involved in the day to day operations. YOU, unlike the President, are not accountable for your actions. YOU, as much as you may or may not like it, are NOT the Commander and Chief.

"Opposition Democrats increased pressure on George W. Bush over plans to surge US troops in Iraq, as the president insisted in an interview that his only concern is success.

Top Democrats in both chambers of the US Congress on Tuesday presented measures ranging from requiring Bush to seek congressional approval to send additional troops to Iraq, to calling for a complete troop withdrawal."

"Cut and Run"
with ignorant understanding to what that actually would mean. Or worse yet, fully understanding what that means, and not caring, in the name of getting Bush.

"Faced with the onslaught, Bush said in an interview with PBS television's "NewsHour" that he was frustrated with progress in Iraq. "A year ago, I felt pretty good about the situation. I felt like we were achieving our objective, which is a country that can govern, sustain and defend itself. No question, 2006 was a lousy year for Iraq," Bush said.

The president said he was doing his "very best to explain to people why success is vital," and that pulling out to leave the Iraqis to settle their business would be "disastrous" for the United States.

"Therefore, we got to keep working on ways to succeed as far as I'm concerned," he said."

Yup. There should be no other option. Send in more troops, get the job done, bring them ALL home. The "Armchair Generals" or make that "Armchair Commanders and Chiefs" from the comforts of their easy chairs in their homes and offices, need to stay out of what they have NO clue about.

"Meanwhile, senior Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy continued to promote draft legislation requiring Bush to get congressional approval before receiving additional funding for troops in Iraq.

In the House, liberal Democrats Lynn Woolsey , Barbara Lee and Maxine Waters introduced a bill calling for a full withdrawal of US forces from Iraq within six months.

They said their bill, dubbed "The Bring the Troops Home and Iraq Sovereignty Restoration Act," would repeal congressional authorization for the use of force in Iraq.

The lawmakers called their legislation a "comprehensive alternative to the administration's 'New Way Forward'" bolstering US forces in Iraq.

Their bill also would also force the withdrawal from Iraq of US military contractors, and would prohibit permanent US military bases there, while continuing economic and political aid to the country."

The women have spoken. So these idiots, not only want us out, they do not even want a base there. Although, they have no problem continuing to send in our money. You have to love the stupidity. If we cut and run, remove ALL Americans from Iraq, yet, continue to send them money, WHO do you think will be getting the money?

All these things are pretty much symbolic. They account to nothing really more than a show. The fact still remains, and will for the next two years, The President of the United States is the Commander and Chief. He can and will do whatever he thinks is best, and there is NOTHING they can or really will do to stop it. They have one option, de-fund the troops. But they are not brave nor stupid enough to actually do that.
