Amnesty International Is Offended

Hey folks,

It seems that Amnesty International is offended because they did not receive the respect they feel they deserve. The problem is, they do not deserve the respect they demand. You see, they have been trying to interfere with this war since the beginning. They want "rights" granted to our enemies. Some even want them protected under miranda. They want us to forget our laws, and be all inclusive and adopt international law.

The executive director Larry Cox issued the following statement in response to Charles Stimson's, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Detainee Affairs.

"Stimson's remarks could not have been more irresponsible. By referring to the international outrage at the U.S.-controlled detention center at Guantanamo Bay as nothing more that a few small demonstrations staged by Amnesty International, is not only wrong but extremely disrespectful."

STOP!! One, it WAS nothing more than a few small demonstrations staged by YOU. I have heard nothing more about it since the famous photos. Have you? Those involved were, or are currently, being dealt with. Like it or not YOU do not set policy in dealing with enemy combatants during a time of war. Second, why should you demand respect?

"After being rebuked by world leaders, including leaders from allied countries, two UN committees, faith leaders, and people of conscience around the world, it is incredible that anyone would believe that the outrage about Guantanamo rests only with Amnesty International activists."

HOLD it. There was not that much of an outcry. Again, it was dealt with. "People of Conscience from around the world??" Whom may you be referring to?

"Amnesty International has worked with other human rights organizations, legal associations, faith communities and international bodies in opposing U.S. policies in Guantanamo and will continue to do so as one of a cacophony of voices calling for its closure."

Again YOU do not set policies. It will not close as long as it is needed.

"Attacking attorneys who would take their time, with out recompense, to defend the human rights of people who have been subject to indefinite and arbitrary detention by the U.S. government distracts from the human rights violations that continue to be committed in Guantanamo Bay."

"That continue to be,," What is being committed? You made the charge, what are the FACTS?

"Amnesty International stands with the attorneys who are dedicated to protect the internationally recognized rights of all people in custody, and recognizes them as human rights defenders committed to upholding the rule of law."

Who’s law? They are being held under American law. The President and this country has not only a right, but a mandate, to do anything needed to be done , to protect this country from the enemies that want us DEAD.

"Rather than attack the law firms who have courageously and zealously fought for the most fundamental rights for their clients, such as the right to have their detention reviewed by an independent court, perhaps Mr. Stimson should spend his time working to bring the United States back into the community of civilized nations that does not imprison people without charge, without hope and without end."

Someone attempting to kill and destroy Americans and America, should have only one hope. A quick death. Period. Sorry you feel disrespected. But if this is the things you are saying, as far as I’m concerned, you got just the amount of respect you deserve.
Peter
