Further Reasons We Need To Be Energy Independent

We are at the whims of people like Chavez

Hey folks,

Did you catch this yesterday? Happy Tuesday to you. Since it is Tuesday, it's time to check in from the Energy Front. Yesterday a story caught my attention for a few different reasons. However, all those reasons come to the same conclusion. WE NEED TO BE ENERGY INDEPENDENT!. According to the AP - Chavez urges military to be prepared for conflict By CHRISTOPHER TOOTHAKER, Associated Press Writer Christopher Toothaker, Associated Press Writer – Mon Aug 10, 1:14 am ET

CARACAS, Venezuela – President Hugo Chavez told his military to be prepared for a possible confrontation with Colombia, warning that Bogota's plans to increase the U.S. military presence at its bases poses a threat to Venezuela.

Chavez has issued near daily warnings that Washington could use bases in Colombia to destabilize the region since learning of negotiations to lease seven Colombian military bases to the United States.

"The threat against us is growing," Chavez said Sunday. "I call on the people and the armed forces, let's go, ready for combat!"

He also said this.

"We cannot ignore this threat," Chavez said during his weekly radio and television program, "Hello President."

Chavez also halted shipments of subsidized fuel to Colombia, saying Venezuela should not be sending cheap gasoline to an antagonistic neighbor.

"Let them buy it at the real price. How are we going to favor Uribe's government in this manner?" he said.

Chavez said this about the US and Iran back in 2007.

"If the United States attempts the madness of invading Iran or attacking Venezuela again, the price of oil is probably going to reach $200, not just $100," Chavez said.

"We are witnessing constant threats against Iran. I think OPEC should strengthen itself in this capacity and demand respect for the sovereignty of our nations, if the developed world wants a guaranteed supply of oil."

You do know who Chavez is right? He owns CITGO. He is also a Dictator that controls one of the richest Oil Countries in the World. According to the United States Department of Justice, the Venezuelan Oil Company run by Hugo Chavez, CITGO Petroleum and its subsidiary, has been found guilty of two violations of the United States clean air act. A jury determined guilt for the company during a federal court hearing held in Corpus Cristi, Texas in July of 2007. He has also said in the past that he wants to "Bring down the US Government."

So we are reliant on HIM? We have to depend on THIS guy for a big percentage of our energy resources? Why? Because it is not "environmentally friendly" for us to drill here for our own resources? He doesn't care about the environment. We can not control HIM nor his Oil companies Drilling practices. But we can our own.

All the rhetoric of the Anti-Drill Crowd is proven false time and time again.

One- It will not take ten years. We can go from nothing to product usage in about a year and a half to two.

Two- It IS SAFE! If we are Drilling here, WE control the process. You know as well as I that there will be people watching CLOSELY to make sure that it is safe for the environment.

Three- We have more natural resources in one place HERE than in all the Mid-East combined.

Four- More supply, EQUALS less demand, equals lower prices.

Folks, this guy does not like us. No, not even since Obama ascended to President. No, not even since Bush left office. He does not care about our needs. He does not care about our well being. He does not care about the environment. Nor does many of the others we rely so heavily upon for our energy needs. We need to stop caring about making people like this rich, and start concerning ourselves with our OWN INTERESTS. We need to become energy independent. There is only ONE way to do that. USE WHAT WE HAVE NOW! While we look for better alternatives. It really IS just that simple.
