Would We Have Had Another 9/11?

Hey Folks,

I fear the answer would have been YES. If the LWL, the cut, surrender, and run, "get Bush" at any cost crowd, was in power. According to Homeland Security, we were just days away from another 9/11.

Twenty four people were arrested in London early Thursday, busting up an alleged terrorist plot to blow 10 U.S. bound jetliners out of the sky over the Atlantic. Or possibly even over land, where the count could have increased. It seems we owe a great deal to an undercover British agent infiltrated the UK based group, and then passed information to authorities.

We owe a great deal to this President for having in place all the security measures that allowed this scenario to take place rather than the one of 9/11. I hope this is a wake up call to those blindly following the LWL crowd who says we need to impeach the President, cut and run, and be nice to these poor little terrorists.

According to the DHS, The suspects allegedly planned to smuggle peroxide based liquid ingredients disguised as sports drinks that could be mixed aboard the flight to produce an explosive compound possibly detonated by a device disguised as a digital camera or audio player. This according to Director Michael Chertoff who appeared on "The Factor." He said,

"I think we were facing the possibility of someone bringing in individual components, each of which would look very innocuous and very common, and literally assembling the bomb in the final minutes on the plane itself."

Mark Mershon, Assistant Director of the FBI, told the AP in New York,

"If this plot had actually occurred, the world would have stood still."

Just like it did on 9/11. President Bush said,

"The recent arrests that our fellow citizens are now learning about are a stark reminder that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation. Cooperation on this venture was excellent, the cooperation between U.K. and U.S. authorities and officials was solid, and the cooperation among agencies within our government was excellent."

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn. said,

"We must act decisively, aggressively, and innovatively, in a way that will protect Americans and our allies that have stood with us in this fight. The increased security precautions being implemented around the country are appropriate and necessary. We must be on alert so that our nation does not suffer another attack like 9/11."

Sen. Lieberman? He said,

"This should serve as the latest, most serious evidence that we are in a war against a brutal enemy that intends to attack us over and over again in the most indiscriminate way. The Department of Homeland Security is doing what it was created to do in the face of a terrorist threat: protecting the United States through the implementation of security measures, international cooperation, and coordination with the law enforcement and intelligence communities."

Where is the LWL? Where is Hillary, Dean, Kennedy, etc? What does Lamont think of this? Where is everyone? If President Bush is so wrong in, well, everything, then what do you have to say about American and British agencies stopping another 9/11?
Wait, here you go folks, one is starting to lay the foundation. Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., who has, at least for now, advocated 100 percent cargo screening on airline flights, said,

"While this terrorist plan may have been thwarted, I still am gravely concerned about gaping aviation security loopholes that continue to put passengers and crew members at risk. While we are fortunate that today's attack appears to have been stopped by vigilant British authorities, today's announcement should be yet another wake-up call to the Bush administration to rapidly close the glaring loopholes that persist almost five years after 9/11."

He seems to be too smart to come out and attack the President right now because Americans ARE just learning about this, but he has laid a foundation. The LWL could, and most likely will, pick it up and run with it. It’s Bush’s fault that the Airport screeners cannot do their job.

They will then probably start denouncing ANY American involvement in this preventive measure, and prevention of another 9/11. None of the President’s plans that have been put into actions, none of his actions post 9/11 had anything to do with it. It was all the British. Then after things die down, and the mass media moves on, they may even start yelling about the infringement of the "rights" of American citizens trying to fly. But right now? Where are they? Where are you Miss Sheehan, Mr. Moore, even Kerry? Why so silent?

They are silent right now because they know, that if they had it their way, the President would be impeached. Our soldiers would be out of Iraq. The Patriot Act would be dead. No tapping, record collections, most likely no Home Land Security We would release most of the "enemy combatants" and give those that hate us, want us dead, and do not care what we think or do, milk and cookies, and we would have woken up today or tomorrow to another 9/11.
