Well, It’s Official, Gibson Charged,

Hey folks,

I will not be in the office tomorrow, Friday, August 4th. But do not fret, I’ll be back on Saturday to spend the weekend together. Also, I may have a surprise for you. The OPN may be having a very special guest who will be contributing from time to time. I’ll let you know what I’m talking about this weekend. You are going to love this person, and you may even learn a few things in the process of being "infotained".

It’s official folks, Mel Gibson has been charged yesterday with misdemeanor drunken driving, having an elevated blood-alcohol level and having an open container of liquor in his car {The open container violation, for a bottle of tequila allegedly found in his car} If you remember, I gave him this weeks IWA, and said that I hoped that he is treated no differently than if it were me and you in the same situation. This DOES seem to be the case.

The three counts were filed by Los Angeles County prosecutors five days after Gibson was pulled over on Malibu's Pacific Coast Highway for speeding. Now other than the 5 day thing, it does seem like he is going to have to deal with this like anyone else.

Now the charges did not mention Gibson's self-described "belligerent behavior" toward the deputy or any allegation of speeding. I know there are some of you, that may have been pulled over before, saying, well, what about the speeding thing? This type of thing happens all the time though. If they already have more serious charges, most of the time, minor ones are dismissed anyway. There would be no point. I also commend the Police and Prosecutor for leaving out the whole drunken litany of insults, seeing it for what it was.

Arraignment was set for Sept. 28 in Malibu Superior Court. So far he seems to be treated like anyone else, we’ll have to see what happens at trial.

See you all on Saturday. Have a GREAT Friday, and remember, no matter what happens, it’s STILL Friday.{Smile}
Peter
