IWA for Sunday August 13, 2006

Hey folks,

This one is serious folks. If there ever was an idiot award and criminal charges absolutely earned and deserved, this is she. Picture this, you have two kids. You have a routine. You take one kid to daycare, the next to school, and you go to work. You do this every day.

Every day but this day. On Thursday, August 10, Nellier Lima had planned on dropping her son, 21-month-old Harold Lima, off at day care, but he fell asleep, and she did not want to wake him. Instead, she took her 6-year-old daughter to school and let the toddler nap. The problem is, after she dropped her daughter off at school, she went to work.

Lima went on to her job as a housekeeper at several homes and then ran some errands. Police said, she discovered the child around 4 p.m, when Lima was done with her work, she went shopping at the Cedar Pointe Plaza.

Now let me see if I understand this. I have a son. He is now 11 months old. I take him places. I love him more than anything in the world. To think that it would be possible for me to forget him ANYWHERE is ridiculous. But to go to work? A job where you get in and out of your car all day. Then shopping? OK, where are the cleaning supplies kept? Did the child never wake up during all these times she got in and out of the vehicle?

Now a lot of this does not make sense. From what I heard, when the Father was contacted by the Police, his first words were, "The baby’s dead right?" If I was to get a call from the police, it would most likely go like this,

PD "Mr. Carlock? This is the Blank PD."
Me "What can I do for you?"
PD "There has been an accident"
Me "What kind of accident?"
PD " ??????"

So on and so forth. My first thought would NOT be "The baby is dead, right?"

This tells me there is way more to this story. Either she has done this before, in which case she should not have been responsible for the child well being, or the Father just felt that this could be a possibility, in which case she should not have been responsible for the child well being. Could it also be a possibility that this was just a coverup?

Even if this happened exactly as she said, not only is she the "Idiot of the Week" she should be charged with at least neglect as well.
Peter
