Minimum Wage, Screw You, We Would Rather Play Politics.

Hey folks,

I took yesterday off, and you have no idea how hard that is. Every time I take a day off, about 4 or 5 pm I start almost shaking because my figures want to type. My head is spinning with all the stuff that is there wanting to come out. I TRULY have this overwhelmingly overpowering desire to say, forget it, I’m going on. I may need to seek help for that {Smile}.

The big news yesterday? The Senate said, "screw you" to those out there making minimum wage. Why? Is $5.15 a livable wage? But wait, the big bad Bush Administration, and those evil Republicans attached an estate tax cut. Why is this wrong? It’s not. Except in the eyes of the LWL. Seriously, what is the problem with cutting the amount that your FAMILY has to pay, on all the money that you have ALREADY paid taxes on, when you die?

Whatever you make, you pay taxes on. Whatever you buy, you pay taxes on. Household items? Tax. Cars? Tax. House and property? A lot of tax. Yet when you die, the government wants your FAMILY to pay MORE tax on what you already did. But they say the estate tax cut makes "The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. We stopped that plan to cater to the rich, to help you, the poor folks. You just do not get anymore money yourselves though. But we did it to help you."

Do you REALLY think that those who are working two jobs, care what the rich’s families have to pay when they die? No, they care about eating. They care about paying for gas to go to the crap job that they bust their hinds all day and week to go to another and do the same thing. They care that they will have light when the sun goes down. They do NOT care about your idiotic politics.

I love the beginning of this Reuters article because it is true,

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic senators blocked their own goal on Thursday"

This is true. They decided to play politics. I like the way Sen. Durbin tried to paint a picture for you.

"They (Republicans) can get 6.6 million Americans an increase in their basic minimum wage as long as we promised that the fattest of cats in America would get a great big bowl of tax cuts," said Sen. Richard Durbin of Illinois, the second-ranking Democrat in the Senate."

Yes those "fat cats" are eating from a big bowl, while YOU get little. It’s not fair. We must stop this. And they did. They stopped you from getting a bigger bowl. The rich still have a bigger bowl than you, and they always will.

The USATODAY story gave an interesting break down of four Democrats that voting FOR the bill.

"The Senate late Thursday rejected, 56-42, a bill fusing the cut in estate taxes with a $2.10 increase over three years in the $5.15 minimum wage. The bill also would have revived a host of expired tax cuts, including a business research and development credit and deductions for state sales taxes, college tuition and teachers' classroom supplies." I guess that is not important either.

Republicans needed 60 votes to advance the measure, which passed the House last Saturday."

"Four Democrats joined Republicans and voted for the bill: Sens. Robert Byrd of West Virginia, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Bill Nelson of Florida and Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas. Two Republicans voted against the bill: Sens. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island and George Voinovich of Ohio." All up for re-election this year, by the way.

I agree with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., {who} "told senators who voted against the bill to "rethink long and hard" during the four-week recess that began late early Friday. Congress reconvenes in September."

Yes, the next time you get your $200.00 check, you can thank those who claim that they are here to help you. You can rest assure that they are sticking it to the rich. You can take comfort in knowing that, even though you cannot pay your $200.00 plus electric bill, the rich will not have a "bigger bowl".
