God Speed Paul Harvey

Preview For Sunday 030109

Hey folks,

Before we get going today. A true Legend has left us with years of memories. It truly is a sad day for me today. I LOVED Paul Harvey. I had no idea that he was even close to 90 years old. But he is TRULY immortal. Since 1951, he did not redefine, he CREATED much of the style of REAL NEWS and REAL JOURNALISM of yesteryear. Journalism of today is dead. But he IS the Pioneer in the industry. I agree with his Son.

"My father and mother created from thin air what one day became radio and television news," Paul Harvey Jr. said in a statement. "So in the past year, an industry has lost its godparents and today millions have lost a friend."

Yes, I truly feel as if I have lost a friend. Up until about a year ago, I could not wait to hear "Stand by for news!" In a way, HE is the inspiration to me for the "You can't Make This Stuff Up" Segments I do here. He gave you the REAL and hard news, but he always found one or two stories that just made you think, or laugh. He was an artist in delivery, even told you what page he was on. "Now, page four." Along with of course his trademark "The Rest of the Story," where he gave you more than common knowledge of various famous people.

Over 50 of those MANY years. Paul Harvey worked for ABC Radio. During his years on the Radio, he actually created terms that we use today. Terms such as "skyjacker," "Reaganomics" and "guesstimate."

"Paul Harvey was one of the most gifted and beloved broadcasters in our nation's history," ABC Radio Networks President Jim Robinson said in a statement. "We will miss our dear friend tremendously and are grateful for the many years we were so fortunate to have known him."

We all were. Here is a TRUE Journalist. One that knew what he believed, and was never afraid to say so. Never afraid to BE who he is. One of his most famous broadcasts was when he said, "Mr. President, I love you ... but you're wrong," in 1970 in opposition to President Nixon's expansion of the war.

A little over a year and a half ago, Paul Harvey came on air, and talked about his Wife being ill. It was clear that he was more than distracted. He got thousands of people sending him in various information and millions wanted to help. It was hard for me to hear the pain in his voice. The Sadness in his heart. Then one day, he was just not there.

Now today I learn that just about one year after his Wife, Paul Harvey has pasted on to be with his beloved Lynne. I do not CARE what you may hear was the official "Cause of Death." I'll tell you right now what the truth is. The "Cause of Death" of Paul Harvey was a broken heart.

I DO truly morn the lost of a TRUE ICON in the News Business. The passing of a friend. The silencing of a bold voice. God speed Paul Harvey. May the Harvey family have the peace and comfort they need in this time. Mr. Harvey? To you, for all the years you said it to us. Good day!

Coming right up today?

As I Wrote It, Obama DID It. I was writing about an article telling you that Abortion foes were against Obama's choice of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. I told you that this does not matter. As a matter of fact I said this.

This is what he has done over and over again. Put people in place to further his radical and Socialistic agendas.

Now he wants to appoint Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary. So what could she possibly bring to the table? She is a BIG TIME Abortion Radical.

Well, just over an hour ago. We see this.

WASHINGTON – Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is President Barack Obama's choice for secretary of health and human services, a White House source said Saturday.

The source, who was not authorized to speak on the record, said Obama will formally announce the nomination on Monday.

"Gov. Sebelius is the right person to move the president's health care agenda forward," said Robert Zirkelbach, a spokesman for America's Health Insurance Plan, the major trade group representing insurers. "She has a wealth of experience of health care issues and has a legislative history of working with both sides of the aisle."

{Sigh}

Told you so. Anyway, get your coffee, juice, tea, or whatever it is that gets you going in the morning. Mine today is "Eight O'Clock Coffee" Whole bean "Hazelnut." www.eightoclock.com I wonder what Paul Harvey's favorite coffee was. Getting up at 3:30 AM everyday since 1951, he had to love coffee. {Smile} Going to re-fill, I'll be right back.
