Senators Question Daschle's Tax Mistake

Daschle, Geithner, No Taxes, No problem.

Hey folks,

Before I start my busy week, I figured I would just pop in for a second and see what was going on in the news. What did I see?

"You have to be troubled by it," said Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona, the No. 2 Republican in the Senate.

"We'll have to question former Sen. Daschle and understand his explanation, and then have a conversation about it and see where it goes," Kyl said on "Fox News Sunday." As to how much trouble the tax issue could present for the nomination, he said, "I think it's too early to tell."

"It's disheartening, obviously. People are struggling to pay taxes on a very small amount of income and he's got this huge amount," Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., said on ABC's "This Week."

Sen. Susan Collins, a Maine Republican, also said the tax problem was a concern and needed more explaining, telling CNN's "State of the Union" that it involved "an awful lot of money" but that she had not decided to vote against confirmation.

Ben Nelson of Nebraska called it "a tough issue" "I'm not prepared at this point in time to vote no," Nelson told CNN.

The Senate's No. 2 Democrat, Dick Durbin of Illinois, "But if you know Tom Daschle, you know better," Durbin said on Fox. "He's found himself having made a mistake and admitted to it. He took the steps necessary to start paying the taxes, make sure they're paid. Now, that's the right thing to do. I believe Tom Daschle's one of the most honest people I've ever known or worked with in public life."

Yeah it's bad, but who cares. You know, it's just an honest mistake. Just like Timothy Geithner, you know, the new Head of the IRS, doesn't pay taxes either. He just made a $34,000 honest mistake. That did not stop President Obama from nominating him, nor did it stop him from being confirmed. It will not stop Daschle's confirmation as Health Secretary.

Turns out that former Sen. Tom Daschle made a $128,203 mistake on his taxes. Of course, just an honest mistake. No big deal. I mean really, he's not a Republican. We are not going to see the Republicans line up denouncing him and calling for Obama Head for nominating him, you know, like the Democrats would if the roles were reversed.

If Bush nominated someone that failed to pay taxes, had Illegal Aliens working for them, was caught on tape trying to sell a Senate Seat, was involved in attempting to FUNEL the People's tax monies to their Son, had a Spouse running around the country collecting HUGH money from Friends and Foes alike, while they are being awarded the Secretary of State job, and so it goes on, the MMD {Mass Media Drones}, the LWL {Left Wing Loons} and the HONEST people in this country, would be coming together to form a lynch mob.

But since this is Obama, and the Loons themselves, it all OK. Just honest mistakes. No problem. The Country has bigger problems than to worry about little indiscretions. We have a Socialist Society to build, don't ya know?

At lease President Obama is being truthful in one aspect, he DOES have a pretty transparent Administration. Pretty transparently corrupt. {Sigh}

See you all in a few days. Have a great week.
Peter

Bottom line do we need a man who can not seem to understand that if a private citizen gives him something that it is taxable?

With Obama's picks lately we are seeing a pattern here. Tax cheats and what ever other will be uncovered and yet Obam stands by all of them and says this is irrelevant.

The duplicity is obvious because those same politicians would be hollering they anger if a Republican had any of these "inconsequential" things.

Hey Sam,

Yeah your right. The double standard is blinding. Imagine if Bush nominated ANY of these people, had they been Republicans. Not only would the Left in Power kill the nomination, but they would be calling for Bush's head.

They would call him stupid, incompetent, and possibly the most Corrupt President in History.

The MMD {Mainstream Media Drones} would have come out of the woodwork and attacked Bush, the vetting team, the Nominees, and the entire Republican Party. They would most likely find out what the Religion of the Nominees are and if Christian, start quoting Bible Verses.

MMD Anchor / Anchorette "Mr. Nominee, Does the Bible not say, 'give on to Caesar what is Caesar's and God what is God's?' Jesus said that. That is clearly saying that even Christians are to pay taxes. So you do not believe in the Bible I guess."

So on and so forth. But since this is the Libs in power, and the "phony Christians" are President Obama's picks, it is reported this way.

MMD Anchor / Anchorette "With the state of the Economy in crises, and the more important and over whelming work to be done, do we really need these distractions? These are just honest mistakes. No big Deal. The Country just has to understand that we all have little indiscretions in our past. This should not hinder President Obama's picks from doing an excellent job and help President Obama turn things around. Let's not make a big deal about this. It really is just honest mistakes. I wonder what Bush is doing right now." {Sigh}
