This is TRULY amazing
Hey folks,
Due to the weather and the fact I was keeping an eye on Fay with my family, I could not be here yesterday. But I am here NOW. Although I was not here, I'm never to far from the Emails. One of the things I got yesterday, is TRULY amazing.
Even though the talking points for the Anti-Drilling crowd continues to be proven wrong time and time again, they continue to spout the same old garbage. One of their favorites is that even if we do start drilling, we will not see anything from new drilling for 10 to 15 years. That is what their experts say. Well, their experts are just flat out wrong.
By the way, your voice is being heard. 1,438,413 signed Newt's Petition, 86 percent of you WANT us to Drill Here and Drill Now. Believe it or not, Nancy Pelosi just said this. Video. You have to keep up the pressure. You have to let them know that we are not going to forget this. We are not going to get comfortable until we KNOW that they have lifted the ban and that we are drilling more of our own resources.
As for that 10 to 15 year thing? Well, this is from Ignacio Gonzalez with Shell. This really is truly amazing.
The Shell-operated Perdido Regional Development Spar has arrived in the ultra deepwaters of the Gulf of Mexico and is currently being secured to the seafloor in about 8,000 feet of water. Once completed, the Perdido spar will be nearly as tall as the Eiffel Tower and weigh as much as 10,000 cars. Perdido will be the deepest oil development in the world, the deepest drilling and production platform in the world and have the deepest subsea well in the world.
Positioning the spar into place required carefully-orchestrated maneuvers. Here's a Video I hope you find as impressive as I.
Perdido will be a fully functional oil and gas platform with a drilling rig and direct vertical access wells, full oil and gas processing and remote subsea wells. The facility is designed to produce 100,000 barrels of oil per day and 200 million standard cubic feet of gas. The production from these fields will be transported via new and existing pipelines to US refineries.
The Perdido Spar will bring in production from three fields: Great White, Silvertip and Tobago. These fields are located in 10 Outer Continental Shelf blocks in Alaminos Canyon, approximately 200 miles south of Freeport, TX. This development will provide the first Gulf of Mexico commercial production from a Paleogene reservoir. All three fields have been granted production units from the Minerals Management Service and the accumulations are completely in US waters, some eight miles north of Mexico international borders. First production from Perdido is expected around the turn of the decade.
We have more info about the project area, as well as maps, Here.
And you can follow the progress of Perdido Here.
So let's recap. No oil. A structure larger than the Eiffel Tower, weighing as much as 10,000 cars, that will be producing oil from THREE different fields, and a product to market within 2 years. Do not tell me we can't do it. Do not tell me we can't drill our way out of foreign dependency. Out of outrageous gas prices, and do not tell me that this will kill the planet. We can do whatever we set our minds to. THAT is what has always, and will always, keep us great.
Now tell Pelosi to stop talking about it, and just vote up or down on lifting the ban. Thank you Jane, and Ignacio, I really DO find this impressive.
Peter
