Energy Update

So much information, it'll take two days.

Hey folks,

If you are tired of hearing about the Energy Crisis is this country, then stop reading now. If you are getting convertable with the lower gas prices right now, and think that they can not possibly go up past $4.00 a gallon again. Stop reading now. If you are an Envionut, then you are probably not reading this, but you should maybe stop reading now if you are.

Why am I continuing to fight this fight? After all, a barrel of oil is at $113.00 now. I want it at $50. There is no reason it couldn't be. I want a guarantee that it will STAY low. Look what Russia is possibly after in Georgia. We are capable of achieving that. I want to KNOW we do not need to rely on Foreign Governments and Dictators that hate us to begin with. I want FREEDOM. We CAN achieve all this. If the Liberals running the Democrat Party get out of the way. In particular, Nancy Pelosi. Really, she is the only one preventing us from drilling. SHE is standing in the way of a up or down vote. There is enough votes to pass a lift on the Congressional Ban in both the House and the Senate. But there can not be a vote without Pelosi getting out of the way. Check out this Video.

I got this in the Emails from the NRCC {National Republican Congressional Committee.} I found it to be pretty interesting.

NRCCNEWS -- SPECIAL ENERGY UPDATE

GOP CONTINUES HISTORIC FIGHT FOR ENERGY LEGISLATION

House Republicans refuse to back down from a fight with Speaker Nancy Pelosi in their efforts to bring meaningful energy legislation to a vote in Congress. With enthusiastic audiences showing their support and appreciation, Republicans have refused to vacate the floor since the House was adjourned last Friday for a five-week recess and plan to continue their fight until Pelosi calls the House back into session and allows a vote for real energy solutions. Presently, Pelosi is content to carry on with a nationwide tour in support of her failing book while the Democrat majority kicks up its heels until Congress reconvenes in September. Meanwhile, Americans are left to suffer through the ongoing energy crisis and empty their wallets every time they fill up their gas tanks.

AMERICANS OVERWHELMINGLY BELIEVE URGENT NEED TO FIND NEW SOURCES OF ENERGY

Rasumssen: Thursday, August 07,2008: Americans overwhelmingly believe there is an urgent national need to find new sources of energy, and this need is more important than reducing current energy usage, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. With energy issues taking center stage in the presidential campaign, 81% of Americans see development of new energy sources as an urgent priority. Only 9% disagree.

81 Percent folks.

PELOSI ENCOURAGES VULNERABLE DEMS TO DO ONE THING AND SAY ANOTHER

Politico: "California Democrat Nancy Pelosi may be trying to save the planet - but the rank and file in her party increasingly are just trying to save their political hides when it comes to gas prices as Republicans apply more and more rhetorical muscle. But what looks like intraparty tension on the surface is part of an intentional strategy in which Pelosi takes the heat on energy policy, while behind the scenes she's encouraging vulnerable Democrats to express their independence if it helps them politically, according to Democratic aides on and off Capitol Hill... Asked if Congress will produce a comprehensive energy bill in September before Congress adjourns again for elections, [Rep. Nick] Rahall [D-WV] replied, 'This year? No.'...'There is no crisis on our side of the aisle,' a top House Democratic leadership aide said. 'We have a plan, and we will stick to it.'"

Yeah. Ride a bike. Inflate your tires. Get tune ups. OH YEAH! Tax Big Oil. That will work. {Sigh} Idiots

PELOSI: LET THEM EAT CAKE

RedState.com: "As she talks about her legacy in posh book stores, millions of Americans are struggling to fill up their gas tanks. Pelosi, meanwhile, has repeatedly dismissed the Republican revolt taking place on the U.S. House floor,

They are still there by the way.

refusing to address the No. 1 issue facing our country by blocking a vote in Congress. Yesterday she disgracefully mocked the GOP's call for more energy exploration...Republicans aren't letting her get away with it. House GOP Whip Roy Blunt, who led Republicans onto the floor today, put it bluntly: 'Why is Nancy Pelosi taking care of personal business rather than the people's business?'...'If Democrats were sincere, they would join Republicans and sign a discharge petition to force a vote on energy legislation,' Blunt said. He noted that even Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.) refused to sign a discharge petition for his own bill, H.R. 2208, the Coal-to-Liquid Fuel Act."

REP. ROSKAM (R-IL) CANCELS VACATION TO FIGHT FOR ENERGY VOTE

NRCC Blog:"This past Sunday, my wife Elizabeth and four children were packing the family mini-van for a planned vacation to upper Michigan when I received an urgent "call-to-action" email from fellow pro-American energy Members of Congress...So we finished packing the car, and took the family road trip a bit further east than originally planned. Why go to all this trouble? Despite the fact that Congress adjourned last Friday for five weeks, I knew that I had to come back to the people's house to urge a vote on solutions to lower prices at the pump. I sense that this Congress, and this nation, are at a tipping point...If we convince the Speaker to not run around with her hands over her ears saying 'I'm not listening, I'm not listening!' then we can convene a debate and make this happen."

Even if the Democrats and the Liberals in the House would rather go on vacation than actually do their job and help YOU, work for YOU, do what we could do to help ALL Americans, there is a Party still working hard for YOU. It's the Republican Party in the House. So the next time you are at the pumps, watching the price continue to tick upwards, think about Pelosi signing her failed book, and the rest of the Democrats taking it easy on the month long Vacation.

Coming up tomorrow, even more facts about Domestic Drilling and what the American Petroleum Institute thinks about the Gang of Ten. See you then.

It'll be fascinating to see what talking points the American Petroleum Institute issues with their campaign checks to Repubs.

I heard yesterday Pelosi is open to holding a vote on allowing the southeastern states to waive the outer continental shelf ban in trade for alternative energy funding.

If Gov. Crist of FL wants to drill off Key West for the oil the Chinese aren't drilling for he can try and find an oil company that's willing to waste the money looking for what isn't there. Big oil companies from Spain and Brazil looked for the Cubans in 2001 and 2004. They didn't find any viable deposits. The US Geological Survey estimates in Cuban offshore waters there's about 4.6 billion barrels of sour crude two miles down in a hurricane alley. On the US side of the line there's less than that. Any meaningful fields in the Gulf are closer to Texas and Mexico. Regardless 4.6 billion barrels = 230 days worth of American consumption at 2007 rates. That stuff won't be worth pumping unless oil hits $400 a barrel. You won't be blogging if and when oil hits $400 a barrel, you'll be fighting for scraps down at the dump with the rest of us.

Here's a proposal for you. Let's "drill here, drill now" everywhere. You wanna let the oil companies plant a rig 30' off the dock of the Bush estate at Kennebunkport? In Ted Steven's new wine cellar? In Peter Roskam's navel? Have at it.

But in return let's windfall profit tax every penny of gas and diesel over $3 a gallon. That revenue gets earmarked for R&D tax breaks and subsidies to develop those new sources of energy Rasmussen says 81% of Americans want. New sources of energy can mean anything but "new" in itself sounds a lot like "find me something else to put in my tank besides the last of the oil."

Now if Republicans are right the WFT won't be a problem. Surely you think there's vast new fields of light sweet easily recoverable crude in the USA if only Pelosi would let the oil companies at it. If Republicans are correct the discovery of these new fields will almost immediately bring down the int'l. price of oil to $50 a barrel and that means gas under $3 a gallon! The oil companies never have to pay the WFT, Republicans are heroes and all will be right with the world.

The problem with that scenario is in reality there aren't any vast new fields of light sweet easily recoverable crude in the USA. We used them up. And there may not be anywhere in the world. Sure OPEC nations periodically announce they've hit a new jackpot. Their allocations are determined by their "reserves". They lie all the time to pump up their balance sheets and sell more.

The proof is in the pudding. Nobody is pumping those big new "finds" but they are draining their older fields at an ever increasing rate.

The USA has 2% of the world's oil reserves but uses 25% of what's pumped worldwide. Drilling now for what we have left isn't going to put a dent in int'l. consumption or prices now or 20 years from now. What it will do is make us even more dangerously vulnerable to foreign suppliers before we have had a chance to develop alternatives for fueling our transportation system. Try actually fighting a war with all those MRAPS and F-22s in years to come. They don't run on ethanol. Unless you want the Russians and Saudis telling when and where our army can fight in 10 years we'd be wise to keep that stuff as a reserve.

Any political party that doesn't understand those realities doesn't deserve to lead. You guys have done way too much damage to America already. We've had enough.

No amount of silly grandstanding in the darkened well of the House with no cameras or microphones is going to change that. Ask Davis in TN-01, one of the major proponents of "Dill Here, Drill Now". He lost his primary last week even as he stood railing at Pelosi in Washington to an opponent who hammered him for being in the pocket of "Big Oil".

LOL anonymous; you forgot to mention that Exxon-Mobile;
Made $1400 per sec.
Paid $4000 in taxes per sec.
$15000 in cost per second
1 Billion a day in operating costs
which works out to about 8.7% profit per year. I can make more profit than that selling hamburgers.
