Response To Anonymous

This Is What Some Envionuts Truly Believe

Hey folks, and Anonymous,

I said that I would highlight and respond to your comment today, so here you go. I'm highlighting it for a couple of reasons. One, I always what you to be rest assured that I ALWAYS allow those that disagree with me to post here. Two, I respect the time you took to post the comment itself. Three, I know that there are many people that TRULY believe as you do. So here we go.

Anonymous posted a comment on Wednesday's Daily article OPNTalk - Energy Update

It'll be fascinating to see what talking points the American Petroleum Institute issues with their campaign checks to Repubs.

I have an update on API and the Gang of Ten, coming right up. Interesting comment here Ano,,You know what, I'm going to call you TH. I hope you do not mind. Since you did not sign your name, I'll just call you TH {Tree Hugger} you know, they say that actually has a lot of medical and mental benefits. Interesting comment TH. Do you know that they are sending checks to Republicans? Republicans Only? How much? Any facts to back this up? Either way, it actually really doesn't matter much.

I heard yesterday Pelosi is open to holding a vote on allowing the southeastern states to waive the outer continental shelf ban in trade for alternative energy funding.

That will be bogged down with a lot of restrictions and loaded with so much garbage that it will never COME to a vote. It is just yet more show. She is starting to run scared because the VOTERS are letting her have it. The Majority of Americans want to drill Here, Drill Now and they are not letting up of the Speaker of the rest of the LWL that left for Vacation without doing anything for the American people. She HOPES by saying this, not actually doing anything, it will stop the pressure. That is why the people need to call even more to make sure that she understands we want more than show.

If Gov. Crist of FL wants to drill off Key West

He doesn't

for the oil the Chinese aren't drilling for he can try and find an oil company that's willing to waste the money looking for what isn't there.

Again interesting statements you are making here, however void of any real FACTS. However, you are right about one thing, the Loon,,uh, sorry, the Democrat Leadership and the Gang of Ten only want drilling where there may or may not be some oil. They are still holding off limits where we KNOW the oil is and where we can access it easily and more cost effectively.

Big oil companies from Spain and Brazil looked for the Cubans in 2001 and 2004. They didn't find any viable deposits. The US Geological Survey estimates in Cuban offshore waters there's about 4.6 billion barrels of sour crude two miles down in a hurricane alley. On the US side of the line there's less than that. Any meaningful fields in the Gulf are closer to Texas and Mexico. Regardless 4.6 billion barrels = 230 days worth of American consumption at 2007 rates. That stuff won't be worth pumping unless oil hits $400 a barrel. You won't be blogging if and when oil hits $400 a barrel, you'll be fighting for scraps down at the dump with the rest of us.

Oh I'll be blogging because I would not be able to afford to go anywhere. {Smile} I do not know where you are getting your information, but it is completely false. Even the "Oil Experts" on the side of those opposed to drilling admit that we have more oil in our country than in the middle East put together. The problem is they are standing in the way of us getting it.

Here's a proposal for you. Let's "drill here, drill now" everywhere. You wanna let the oil companies plant a rig 30' off the dock of the Bush estate at Kennebunkport? In Ted Steven's new wine cellar? In Peter Roskam's navel? Have at it.

{Laughing} BDS? {Bush Derangement Syndrome} I actually do not care where they put the oil rigs. I do not see them as a threat. I see them as freedom. However, let me rephrase that. I do care. I want them to put the oil rigs where the oil ACTUALLY IS.

But in return let's windfall profit tax every penny of gas and diesel over $3 a gallon. That revenue gets earmarked for R&D tax breaks and subsidies to develop those new sources of energy Rasmussen says 81% of Americans want. New sources of energy can mean anything but "new" in itself sounds a lot like "find me something else to put in my tank besides the last of the oil."

Big Oil does not make Windfall Profit. Do you even know what that means? Seriously. Not being sarcastic here. Do you. That means you do nothing to gain profit from something. In other words, winning the Lotto, receiving an unexpected inheritance, the Government taxing Big Oil, ETC. Many trace this back to Colonial Times. The British Government controlled how much and what kind of wood they could use. However, if a storm came through and knocked down a bunch of trees, they could use them due to that being an act of God.

Big Oil does NOT sit back and do nothing to profit. They search out, drill, refine, and ship. What Big Oil gets is profit. NOT Windfall Profit. That is what our Government gets by taxing up to 6 times the amount Big Oil gets, without doing ANYTHING to earn it. They already get taxed more than any other business in the US. As DS Harford pointed out.

"LOL anonymous; you forgot to mention that Exxon-Mobile;
Made $1400 per sec.
Paid $4000 in taxes per sec.
$15000 in cost per second
1 Billion a day in operating costs
which works out to about 8.7% profit per year. I can make more profit than that selling hamburgers."

So what you really have is the third reason. GWBS.

Now if Republicans are right the WFT won't be a problem. Surely you think there's vast new fields of light sweet easily recoverable crude in the USA if only Pelosi would let the oil companies at it. If Republicans are correct the discovery of these new fields will almost immediately bring down the int'l. price of oil to $50 a barrel and that means gas under $3 a gallon! The oil companies never have to pay the WFT, Republicans are heroes and all will be right with the world.

Pretty much, yup.

The problem with that scenario is in reality there aren't any vast new fields of light sweet easily recoverable crude in the USA. We used them up. And there may not be anywhere in the world. Sure OPEC nations periodically announce they've hit a new jackpot. Their allocations are determined by their "reserves". They lie all the time to pump up their balance sheets and sell more.

Where did you get that? We used them all up? We haven't even tapped them yet. There is also NO OIL shortage.

The proof is in the pudding. Nobody is pumping those big new "finds" but they are draining their older fields at an ever increasing rate.

OK. All the more reason to drill in the new areas.

The USA has 2% of the world's oil reserves but uses 25% of what's pumped worldwide. Drilling now for what we have left isn't going to put a dent in int'l. consumption or prices now or 20 years from now. What it will do is make us even more dangerously vulnerable to foreign suppliers before we have had a chance to develop alternatives for fueling our transportation system. Try actually fighting a war with all those MRAPS and F-22s in years to come. They don't run on ethanol. Unless you want the Russians and Saudis telling when and where our army can fight in 10 years we'd be wise to keep that stuff as a reserve.

Again, completely false.

Any political party that doesn't understand those realities doesn't deserve to lead. You guys have done way too much damage to America already. We've had enough.

Any political party that doesn't understand those realities doesn't deserve to lead. We agree with that. Pelosi and crew have done NOTHING. They have NO understanding of reality whatsoever. All they do is pander to the EXSTREME FAR Left Loons. Why do you think that she and the Democratic Party have the lowest approval rating in history?

No amount of silly grandstanding in the darkened well of the House with no cameras or microphones is going to change that. Ask Davis in TN-01, one of the major proponents of "Dill Here, Drill Now". He lost his primary last week even as he stood railing at Pelosi in Washington to an opponent who hammered him for being in the pocket of "Big Oil".

Neither will going on Vacation and saying "screw you" to the American People. Elections are funny. Truth is, most voters do not have a clue. They get their news from sound bits and what others tell them. Why do you think the Democrats won in 06. Look what we got from uneducated voters.

Thanks again for stopping by TH. Stop by often, you never know what you may see here. You also might want to take a little break from those Liberal Websites. You'll have less anxiety and will perhaps have a better understanding of reality. {Smile}

Be right back with that API Update.
Peter
