"Just My Thoughts" Sunday November 5, 2006

Children Playing

Hey folks,

What I was going to talk about today just got blown out of the water. Yes. It will have to wait until a later date. I have something a little more important to talk about. It just happened to me again. It has happened in the past with my Niece, but it just happed again with my Son.

"And Jesus called a little child to him, and set the child in the midst of them. He said, Verily I say unto you, unless you be converted and become as little children, you shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven." Matthew 18:2 & 3

Now do not worry, I understand it’s Sunday, but I’m not going to preach to you. But this teaching was ringing in my mind today. You see I stopped by one of my favorite places to shop. A little family owned Oriental Market to get some stuff to cook with tonight. {I’m having guests over} While I was there picking out the different things I needed, I looked over and saw Joshua playing with a little Oriental boy.

They were laughing and playing. They could not speak to each other, neither one is talking yet, but they were communicating. They knew what each other wanted. They understood how to work together to achieve their mutual goal. That would be getting the Chinese candy off the shelf.

I starting to just watch this. Neither one care at all, about who the other was. Where they came from. The color of their skin. Neither one cared what religion the other believed, how much money they had, nor what political party they were affiliated with. {Smile} All they cared about was that they had found a new friend. That’s all they cared about. Then and even the next time I go there. You see it turns out that the little boy’s name is Jonathan. He is the Son of one of the owners of the market and a month younger than Joshua. I’m sure they will be playing again.

Jesus’s statement, as with many things He taught us, have extremely vast depth and meaning. As I watched these two little boys play together, I realized that if we COULD all become as little children, the world would be such a better place. Think about this, we would not, prejudge anyone, based on the color of their skin, their religion, what they got, what they don’t. We would say what we mean, and believe what other say to us.

We would simply exist in harmony, working together toward a common goal. But we’re not. It is not until us, the adults in the matter get involved, you know, the ones with "wisdom and knowledge" to know better, that things get screwed up.

Just a thought.
Peter
