Americans Watching Dem.s. Dem.s Better Be Watching "Little Hitler"

Hey folks,

Well the American people have made it clear. They are watching and waiting to see what the Democrats will do when they take control. According to USA Today;

"In the poll taken Thursday through Sunday, just after Democrats swept to majorities in the House and Senate, those surveyed said by nearly 2-to-1 that they want Democrats to have more influence than President Bush on the direction of the nation. Nearly half said the country will be better off under Democrats; 16% said it will be worse off; and one-third predicted no difference."

It says,

"Democrats had a 57% favorable rating, their highest since January 2004 and 4 percentage points higher than the 53% share that exit polls indicated the party's congressional candidates won on Election Day.

Joel Benenson, a Democratic strategist whose firm worked on several Senate races, said the poll underscores the message voters sent Bush. "They expect the Democratic Party to have influence with the president," he said. "They want things to get done. They think the Democrats can help make that happen."

But this is scary. I told you just two days ago,

"OK I know this will offend some of you. But just because you may become offended, does not mean it is not true. The truth is that most people, like good little sheep, just voted for those that the media told them too. If you go out to the street and ask most people who Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or Howard Dean is, they would have NO clue. Yet they voted them into office, because they were told to."

Listen to this,

"More than half said they'd never heard of Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., or had no opinion of him. The future Senate majority leader was viewed favorably by 27%."

But they voted for them. And this was not just a bunch of disgruntled Republicans,

"Only 24% in the poll identify themselves as Republicans, down from 31% just before the election. That's the smallest percentage since December 1998, when only 20% said they were Republicans. The post-election dropoff is not unusual for a losing party; self-identified Democrats fell from 34% to 28% in 1994, when Republicans seized Congress.

Democrats stayed relatively constant, edging from 34% to 35%. Independents registered the largest gain, from 32% before the election to 40% afterward."

While Americans are watching the Democrats pick their leaders,

"Senate Democrats picked two women for senior posts Tuesday and appointed former U.S. Capitol police chief Terrance Gainer as sergeant at arms. Their choice as majority leader, Sen. Harry Reid, said a top priority is getting a new secretary of defense confirmed."

Break

"When the 110th Congress convenes in January, Sen. Richard Durbin of Illinois will be Reid's deputy as the vote-counting majority whip.

Sen. Charles Schumer,D-N.Y., will continue serving as the cash-raising campaign committee chairman, and also will assume the title of vice chairman of the Democratic caucus. As such, he will be the No. 3 Democratic leader and a chief strategist.

Sen. Patty Murray of Washington will serve as conference secretary. Sen. Byron Dorgan of North Dakota will chair the caucus' policy committee, which holds oversight hearings and researches legislative proposals, while Sen. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, will head the party steering committee."

Then you have Pelosi picking Murtha to be her second in command, which has drawn fire from even the most Liberal groups.

While all this is going on, "Little Hitler" is back in the news. He said,

"We won't talk to the Zionist regime because it is a usurper and an illegitimate entity. But we will talk to the U.S. government under certain conditions. Should it correct its behavior, we will talk to them,"

According to the AP,

"President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday that Iran would talk to the United States if it "corrects its behavior," but the White House said there would be no discussions until Tehran took a more constructive role in the region."

Why the sudden turn around? Two reasons. First, the Democrats won and they are seen as weak on terrorism world wide. Two, more importantly, the IAEA found out what they have been up to. According to the AP,

"New traces of plutonium and enriched uranium — potential material for atomic warheads — have been found in a nuclear waste facility in Iran, a revelation that came Tuesday as the Iranian president boasted his country's nuclear fuel program will soon be completed.

The International Atomic Energy Agency report detailing the discovery also faulted Tehran for not cooperating with the U.N. watchdog's attempts to investigate other suspicious aspects of Iran's nuclear program.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a two-hour news conference in Tehran, asserted the world has no choice but to "live with a nuclear Iran," although he conceded his country was "still in the first stages" of its uranium enrichment program."

But then,

"Ahmadinejad remained defiant. "I'm very hopeful that we will be able to hold the big celebration of Iran's full nuclearization in the current year," he said. Iran's calendar year ends March 20.

But he acknowledged Iran still has a long way to go before it can produce enough enriched uranium for the reactor at Bushehr. "We need time to produce enough fuel for one complete nuclear power plant," he said."

Let’s see how the new leadership plans on dealing with this. Do they really think that they are so smart and compassionate that they will be able to bargain or reason with him? Should be interesting to see.
