Already Doing What Some Want America To Do, China Failing,

It is just not working.

Happy Tuesday. Yes, back to work, back to reality. Hope everyone had a great Independence Day. I came across this yesterday. I found it extremely telling. You see, China is already doing a lot of what this Administration and some in Congress want US to do. It's FAILING big time. Why? The people are saying "screw you," and the "alternatives" are not working to stifle the necessary increase in its Energy still produced by "burning fossil fuels." Even their "Thermostatic Controls," are failing.

Chinese regulations still mandate that the air-conditioning in most places be set no cooler than 79 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. But upscale shopping malls have long been exempt from the thermostat controls and have maintained much cooler temperatures through the summers. Now, as the consumer economy takes root, those malls are proliferating in cities across China.

But it's not just for the tourists. The Younger Generation of Chinese do not what to live like animals. According to this NYT's piece;

An older generation of low-wage migrant workers accepted hot dormitories and factories with barely a fan to keep them cool, one of many reasons Chinese emissions per person are still a third of American emissions per person. Besides higher pay, young Chinese are now demanding their own 100-square-foot studio apartments, with air-conditioning at home and in factories. Indeed, one of the demands by workers who went on strike in May at a Honda transmission factory in Foshan was that the air-conditioning thermostats be set lower.

GUANGZHOU, China — Premier Wen Jiabao has promised to use an “iron hand” this summer to make his nation more energy efficient. The central government has ordered cities to close inefficient factories by September, like the vast Guangzhou Steel mill here, where most of the 6,000 workers will be laid off or pushed into early retirement.

Obama says he will Bankrupt the Coal Industry, and wants to ban ALL off shore drilling. That means, according to a new Heritage Foundation study between now and 2035 an offshore drilling ban would:

Reduce Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by $5.5 trillion;

Reduce household s pending for an American family of four by $2,381 per year and more than $4,000 in 2035;

Reduce job growth by more than one million jobs by 2015 and more than 1.5 million jobs by 2030;

Increase the nation's spending for imported oil by nearly $737 billion.

Well China IS doing it.

Already, in the last three years, China has shut down more than a thousand older coal-fired power plants that used technology of the sort still common in the United States. China has also surpassed the rest of the world as the biggest investor in wind turbines and other clean energy technology. And it has dictated tough new energy standards for lighting and gas mileage for cars.

But even as Beijing imposes the world’s most rigorous national energy campaign, the effort is being overwhelmed by the billionfold demands of Chinese consumers.

Chinese and Western energy experts worry that China’s energy challenge could become the world’s problem — possibly dooming any international efforts to place meaningful limits on global warming.

If China cannot meet its own energy-efficiency targets, the chances of avoiding widespread environmental damage from rising temperatures “are very close to zero,” said Fatih Birol, the chief economist of the International Energy Agency in Paris.

Aspiring to a more Western standard of living, in many cases with the government’s encouragement, China’s population, 1.3 billion strong, is clamoring for more and bigger cars, for electricity-dependent home appliances and for more creature comforts like air-conditioned shopping malls.

As a result, China is actually becoming even less energy efficient. And because most of its energy is still produced by burning fossil fuels, China’s emission of carbon dioxide — a so-called greenhouse gas — is growing worse. This past winter and spring showed the largest six-month increase in tonnage ever by a single country.

So what do we make of this? Reality vs Dream. That's the bottom line here. This is the fundamental truth.

There are some that believe this. That long for this. Obama and Crew want to sell even more on this. Hey, live in tents, no possessions, no boarders, no need for anything. Everyone working gleefully toward the common good, and saving the planet in the process. Of course, He and the rest of the Ruling Class will keep all THEIR possessions, their homes, they will continue to live in Luxury, while you are being a good citizen and not creating waves. Just work for them, and they will take care of you.

The problem is, THIS is not FREEDOM. This is not Independence. This is NOT REALITY. The world runs on Oil. From what we power our, and heat our, homes with, drive our Vehicles, Trains, and Planes with, MAKE everyday things with, and what POWERS the world, and the World Economy, Oil, Natural Gas, and Coal is it.

China has lead the way at creating Alternatives, and attempting to force their people to down scale their lives. Yet, they are INCREASING their use of Oil and Natural Resources. What are all those Wind Turbines and other clean energy technologies achieving? China continues to INCREASE it's use of Natural Resources. So?

Sorry folks, but Obama and Crew would love to give the authority to the Power Companies to come into your home and put a "Smart Meter" that will control the Temperature in your home to whatever the Government says is ideal. Al Gore, and the like, would LOVE it if you would just live in tents, forget that stupid AC, and work together for the common good. Which of course, they will tell you what that is. Yet, THEY will live however they choose. And so will those that can afford to PAY them for permission to do the same.

China's "Iron Hand” failed. Obama's Boot will also. There are no alternatives out there that everyone can use to switch over from Oil and Gas to. And sorry, but for THOUSANDS of years, from the time Man first walked this earth, we used fire and Horse and Carriage. It has been just the last 150 years or so that we went from that, to Laser beams and Space Travel. Oh yeah, Obama wants to shut that down also. At any rate, no one is interested in going back to fire and Horse and Carriage. Well, no one but those that would like to see YOU do it. Even though Man-made Global Warming is a SCAM. As long as it doesn't effect them. "Turn up the AC Honey."
