Hope You Had Popcorn

Hey folks,

Well, last night the “Do Nothing Congress” is did nothing all night long. Actually, they still are. That’s right, they are pulling a stunt. Putting on a show for you. I personally do not like Popcorn, but I understand that most do. Most like having it with a good show. So I hope you got ya some, sat back, and was entertained. Right now I just checked CSPAN 2, and Senator Bob Casey is talking. According to the AP-Senate debating all night on Iraq By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent

By the way, if they are to be there all night DEBATING, then why the beds? Just found this AP photo humorous.

Democrats steered the Senate into an attention-grabbing, all-night session to dramatize opposition to the Iraq war but conceded they were unlikely to gain the votes needed to advance troop withdrawal legislation blocked by Republicans.

They JUST admitted it. They will accomplish NOTHING! It is a DRAMA. A show. A stunt. Nothing more than that. {Laughing} What a joke.

"Our enemies aren't threatened by talk-a-thons, and our troops deserve better than publicity stunts," said Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader.

ABSOLUTELY!

McConnell and many other Republicans favor waiting until September before considering any changes to the Bush administration's current policy. They have vowed to block a final vote on the Democrats' attempt to require a troop withdrawal to begin within 120 days.

You know why folks? I’ve been telling you. You SHOULD know why. We are WINNING. The surge is WORKING.

According to General Peter Pace,

"It will because what I'm hearing now is a sea change that is taking place in many places here," he replied. "It's no longer a matter of pushing Al Qaeda out of Ramadi, for example, but rather — now that they have been pushed out — helping the local police and the local army have a chance to get their feet on the ground and set up their systems."

We have driven out the BAD guys wherever the surge goes. Now we have to help the Iraqis ensure that they {The BAD guys} do not come back.

Gen. Raymond Odierno, the No. 2 commander in Iraq, said he did not currently foresee requesting more troops.

"Right now I can't find an assessment where I would say I need more troops," Odierno said, adding that he is confident that by September he will be able to give Petraeus his advice on how the troop buildup is working.

"My assessment right now is, I need more time" to understand how the offensive targeting Al Qaeda in Iraq is working and how it could lead to political progress, Odierno said.

"I'm seeing some progress now here in Iraq. We have really just started what the Iraqis term 'liberating' them from Al Qaeda. What I've got to determine is what do I need in order to continue that progress so that the political piece can then take hold and Iraqi security forces can hold this for the long term."

Here is the released NIE. One of the things that the LWL does not like is this.

“We judge the US Homeland will face a persistent and evolving terrorist threat over the next three years. The main threat comes from Islamic terrorist groups and cells, especially al-Qa’ida, driven by their undiminished intent to attack the Homeland and a continued effort by these terrorist groups to adapt and improve their capabilities.

We assess that greatly increased worldwide counterterrorism efforts over the past five years have constrained the ability of al-Qa’ida to attack the US Homeland again and have led terrorist groups to perceive the Homeland as a harder target to strike than on 9/11. These measures have helped disrupt known plots against the United States since 9/11.”

You know, those things that the LWL want to kill. The programs that have kept us safe. According to this, we are safer now than we were before because of these programs. The report continues to say that the BAD guys, the terrorists that want us dead, are continuing to gain strenth and better organize. Their goal? Another 9-11. Check it out for yourself.

After this release, LWL Leader and Traitor Pelosi, released this.

"The Bush Administration's unnecessary, ill-conceived, and ill-planned war in Iraq has made America less secure by turning our nation's full attention away from fighting terrorism. As the National Intelligence Estimate released this morning makes clear, nearly six years after the 9/11 attacks the group responsible, al-Qaeda, remains the most serious terrorist threat facing our country. Al-Qaeda has regained its strength, terrorist attacks have increased, and extremists are using the war in Iraq to attract new recruits.”

Talk about a spin. It says the EXACT opposite. The genius continued.

“We must do more to protect the American people from terrorism. Today, the Democratic-led House took a strong step toward protecting America doing by agreeing to go to conference on legislation to enact the recommendations made nearly three years ago by the independent 9/11 Commission. Prompt passage of the final 9/11 legislation and the President's signature on the bill will make America safer."

He is DOING it. Our brave men and women ARE keeping us safe. The surge is working. We ARE winning. We ARE safer today than before 9-11. Then, I’m really starting to like this guy a lot, House Republican Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement.

"Today's report demonstrates the lengths we've gone to keep our homeland safe, and highlights the successes we've achieved as a result of that work. But it also reminds us that a serious commitment of resources and vigilance will be required if we expect to ensure that safety in the future, as terrorists continue to plot new and innovative ways to bring harm upon innocent Americans.

The assessment reveals that would-be terrorists perceive the American homeland today to be a harder, more dangerous target to attack -- because it is. Working alongside the President, previous Congresses have taken the threats made by al-Qaeda and other agents of radical Islam deadly seriously, and have devoted the resources necessary to shore up our vulnerabilities at home and bring the fight to them abroad.

But although these efforts continue to disrupt the planning and execution of terrorist attacks -- both here and overseas -- this report makes plain that our enemies have not yet given up. Their ideology remains one of blinding hate, and their network remains well-funded and operationally active around the world.

Defeating these extremists will require better intelligence, new tools to track their movements -- both physically and financially -- and most important: the popular resolve needed to get the job done. Impressing upon our colleagues the need to reform and update the current Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act would be a good first step in the process, and Republicans in the House stand ready to do that and much more as the 110th Congress continues."

Yeah, unfortunately when you say continues, truth is, all they continue to do is ignore the real threat, and try to convince the public that the only enemy is Bush.

Sorry, got side tracked, backed to the AP article. Get this.

MoveOn.org, the anti-war group, announced plans for more than 130 events around the country to coincide with the Senate debate, part of an effort to pressure Republicans into allowing a final vote on the legislation. A candlelight vigil and rally across the street from the Capitol was prominent among them, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., expected to attend.

I just have two words for Moveon.org. WHO CARES? Other than the LWL? I do not care what they plan, say, lie about, or anything else. Nor do I care what members of Congress think, say, lie about, or anything else. I do care about what those on the ground actually FIGHTING the war says.

They appointed Gen. David Petraeus. He is scheduled to report in September. Let’s see what HE says then. The problem for the LWL though is that the early signs now are, it’s working and we are winning. Even this report says so. This is why you are not hearing too much about it.

No folks, nothing will come of this stunt by the Senate either. No passable bill, no good legislation. Nothing positive for the troops. Nothing positive for the country. Nothing to help win the war. Nothing period. The more and the better news out of Iraq, the harder they will continue to push to surrender. And it IS, just that simple.
