Waxman-Markey Goes To The House

"From The Energy Front" 062409

Hey folks,

Now we talked about the Waxman-Markey, or as Pete {good name} from The NRCC calls it the Cap and Tax Bill. Well it goes to the House Floor for a Vote, most likely this coming Friday. Pete Sessions, Chairman NRCC, said this.

"Cap and Trade is nothing more than a tax which starts accruing the moment you flip on your light switch. This "light switch tax" will raise energy costs by hundreds of dollars for the average family and between 1.8 and 7 million American jobs could be lost.

Just think, every time you turn on a light at home, watch TV or wash your clothes the meter is running and Democrats are collecting. In these tough economic times its more important than ever to put money in the pockets of average Americans."

He is right. According to Jane over at API, "As studies by the Heritage Foundation and the National Black Chamber of Commerce show, this bill will cut jobs by more than two million a year and raise the price of gasoline by an estimated 77 cents a gallon over the next decade.

Recently, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) produced a new analysis of the Waxman-Markey bill, estimating that the net cost per household will be only $175 a year. API economists have reviewed this analysis and have found that it is deeply flawed. It fails to address the reduction in Gross Domestic Product from the higher cost of carbon--an impact that could be in the hundreds of billions of dollars--and it counts the value of free allowances given to businesses as a benefit to average American households. Together these flaws have the effect of biasing the CBO study to provide a much lower estimated economic impact on households than can be realistically anticipated."

So the API President Jack Gerard sent a LETTER to every member of Congress, explaining why the "Cap and Tax" Bill is a bad thing for ALL Americans. In the letter, he said this.

“As independent analysis suggests, this legislation will drive up consumer prices for gasoline and other fuels. At today’s prices, it would mean gasoline at more than $4 a gallon. It also will create huge disincentives for the production of America’s abundant natural gas resources, and force jobs and productive capacity overseas,”

That IS the goal of this Congress. Folks, as I keep telling you they do not CARE. They WANT energy cost to skyrocket. Obama said so. He said it's GOOD. Why? So they can force you to go along with the nonsense of the Global Warming Agenda. It will, they think, FORCE you to accept it. Buy what they tell you to buy. Live how they tell you to live. Now of course you have the freedom, for now anyway, to tell Congress and President Obama to go pound sand, but it will cost you. They are counting on most not being able to AFFORD to NOT follow their agenda.

Now API does not oppose Alternative Energy and doing things to help the Environment. I have many disagreements with them on this issue. THERE IS NO GLOBAL WARMING. THERE IS NO THREAT to the planet. But as Jane pointed out to me a while back, It doesn't matter if "Man-made Climate Change" is real or not. It no longer matters that Global Warming is a Scam. We have a Congress and a President that "believes" or wants you to believe that it is a real and pending crisis. The real question that the Energy Industry, and unfortunately all of us, have to deal with, is this. "What are they going to do about it?"

The "Light Switch Tax" is not going to do ANYTHING about it. As I keep pointing out to you, even if this was real, even if Global Warming was going to kill us all, stupidity like the Waxman-Markey Bill will do NOTHING to reduce Green House Gases. Cap and Trade will move profits and money around, but protect the environment, it will not. All it is, is another tool to control your personal lives. All it is, is another power grab by this Congress and Administration. It is merely a tool to further their agendas.

It WILL hurt all Americans. It WILL INCREASE our dependence on Foreign Oil. It WILL limit our very Freedoms. It WILL give the Obama Administration MORE power and control over Private Industries, and it WILL allow Government MORE access into YOUR private lives.

We can only hope, that there are enough people in the House, on BOTH sides, that will stand up for America. American Independence, American Freedoms, and the American People and defeat this stupidity. I have my doubts. But we can HOPE. I hope that YOU, participate and let these people know, that if they DO vote for this, they are GONE in 2010, and 2012. Let them know where you stand. Let them know, enough is enough. They work FOR you. We are not here to serve THEM. It's time to let your voices be heard again.
Peter
