The Day Draws Closer,

Hey folks,

I’ve been talking about the very real possibility fo us, lead by President Bush’s cowboy attitude, to go into Iran. I’ve have said that we need to give this one SERIOUS thought. Iran is not Iraq. The problem with Iran is, it is NOT a guy in the desert with a sling shot. It is a very powerful country, with very powerful friends. Russia and China will NEVER be on our side in a military conflict in Iran. They have way too much invested. They have even told us this outright.

Today, Wednesday the 24th of May, will be the day that we all go to London to discuss a package of incentives and threats drafted by European countries aimed at defusing a crisis over Iran's nuclear program. Will this solve anything?

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has made it clear that Iran has full rights to it nuclear program, and that it is for civilian power generation. We not only think, but KNOW that this is not true. They are attempting to create an atomic bomb.

At the same time they say they are using this technology for power, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is making threats to "Wipe Israel off the face of the world." He tries to "make nice" or in truth, tried to fool us with a letter he sent to President Bush. The Liberal mass media ate this up. "Oh he’s not such a bad guy. Look, this must at least be an attempt to negociate." Wrong.

While he sends the letter, he talks about Iranian enemies and no one will prevail against him. As he talks about religion, God, and Jesus, {in the letter} he institutes laws requiring citizens to wear insignias indicating what religion they belong to. Sound familiar? Folks there is only one reason for this. You know what that is. This is NOT a nice guy. Actually, the guy is just plain nuts. But we HAVE to be careful.

Now back to this meeting. Sergei Kiryenko, the head of Russia's atomic energy agency, said, "I hope that this proposal would be a major breakthrough in this issue."

President Bush says, "Obviously we'd like to solve this issue peacefully and diplomatically, and the more the Iranians refuse to negotiate in good faith the more countries are beginning to realize that we must continue to work together."

Iran? President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says "The enemies who could not stop the Iranian nation of reaching nuclear technology by means of political pressure, conspiracies and using the tool of international organizations are now plotting against us"

So is this more of the "show" of seeking diplomatic solutions? You remember leading up to Iraq, it seemed more of a "show". An appearance of seeking cooperation by president Bush KNOWING full well he was going in anyway. Is this more of the same?

Do not get me wrong. The comparisons between President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hitler are indeed both creepy and scary. He DOES need to go. All I’m saying is this is NOT Iraq. This is a difficult situation with some very difficult possibilities. We need to be careful. If we go into Iran in a cowboy fashion, solo, and with a big bad attitude, we may be the ones who face Shock and Awe. I’m telling you folks, Russia, and China will NOT sit back and watch in this one. We must be careful.
Peter
