Hey folks,

“Unfortunately, more than 500,000 poor children who are eligible for SCHIP coverage are not enrolled in the program. At the same time, many States are spending SCHIP funds on adults. In fact, based on their own projections for this fiscal year, Minnesota, Illinois, New Jersey, Michigan, Rhode Island, and New Mexico will spend more SCHIP money on adults than they do on children. And that is not the purpose of the program.”
Adults have nothing to do with “10 million poor kids.”
“This week, congressional leaders sent me a deeply flawed bill that would move SCHIP even further from its original purpose. Here are some of the problems with Congress's plan: Under their plan, one out of every three children who moves onto government coverage would drop private insurance. In other words, millions of children would move out of private health insurance and onto a government program. Congress's plan would also transform a program for poor children into one that covers children in some households with incomes up to $83,000. Congress's plan would raise taxes on working people. And Congress's plan does not even fully fund all the new spending. If their plan becomes law, five years from now Congress would have to choose between throwing people off SCHIP -- or raising taxes a second time.”
Right after this, the DNC ran an ad showing a “poor kid” that was in an auto accident and was not covered, uh, by the government. What they failed to tell you, was that this kid's family is NOT poor. In fact, this kids family has more money than many people I know that have their kids covered privately. The parents apparently CHOSE not to have their children covered. But now it’s the governments responsibility? The President then told you the truth.
“Congress's SCHIP plan is an incremental step toward their goal of government-run health care for every American. Government-run health care would deprive Americans of the choice and competition that comes from the private market. It would cause huge increases in government spending. It would result in rationing, inefficiency, and long waiting lines. It would replace the doctor-patient relationship with dependency on bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. And it is the wrong direction for our country.”
It was and is. I’m glad that the President vetoed it. Who do you think was going to PAY for this free health care for these families? YOU. That’s right. YOU.
Many are not too happy about the veto though. Traitors Reid and Pelosi promised to override the veto. Reid said that there is no need for further debate on this. He said that there be not be "another ounce of compromise." He then called the veto "an insult." Many Lib groups came out and called for an override. Get this. One of these groups, I just love the name, WIPP, came out and said this.

WIPP has been working with both Republican and Democratic Congressional leaders on strengthening the SCHIP program. WIPP signed a letter in June 2007 to U.S. Sens. Max Baucus (D-MT) and Charles Grassley (R-IA) with several recommendations that would allow the public program to serve as a secondary payer to guarantee a child's access to all SCHIP benefits.
Also, WIPP has worked with Congressional leaders to include employer tax credits in the SCHIP reauthorizing legislation, the Lincoln-Snowe Amendment to SCHIP that addresses access and affordable health insurance coverage for small businesses, and the Kerry-Snowe Amendment that establishes a task force to conduct an educational outreach campaign to small businesses on healthcare coverage for children through private insurance.
"This program expired on Sept. 30. We urge our nation's representatives to do the right thing and override the Presidential veto," said Kasoff. About Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP)
Who is WIPP? Women Impacting Public Policy. I’m not making this up folks. Check out their website.

House Republican Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement in response to this.

What we've seen instead, however, is the continuation of a coordinated campaign to muddy the waters on SCHIP -- attempting to extract political advantage from a legitimate disagreement over who should, and who should not, be eligible for taxpayer-funded care.
Republicans believe the SCHIP program ought to cover the kids for whom it was originally designed -- before expanding it to families who make as much as $83,000 year. I hope Democrats will reconsider their intractable position on this issue, and at some point consider working with Republicans to make sure poor kids aren't forced out of line by families with the means to manage their own health care."
Yes folks, they do not have the votes. All this talk, and lies by the way, is nothing more than yet another political show for the Looney base. In reality, the LWL SCHIP Trojan Horse is dead. Again, in part, thanks to Talk Radio telling you the truth, and YOU calling your Representatives. Once again YOUR voice was heard. Is there ANY doubt WHY they want to silence it?
