Muslims Need Only to Blame Themselves

Hey folks,

USA today has this story about as group of Muslims in a rural town. Who have asked to buy a lot of land to build what they call a worship center. The residence are against this. So is this racism? Is it Religious Discrimination? Commonsense? Why would this be? How coud true Americans, be against such a “peaceful religion”?

According to USA Today - Muslim sect resisted in Md. By Andrea Stone

WALKERSVILLE, Md. — Intisar Abbasi looks over the rolling farm field that his Muslim sect hopes to buy for a worship center and annual convention site. The Pakistani immigrant knows many in this small town of unpainted barns and church suppers are "troubled by foreigners" and suspicious of Muslims in particular.

Could they maybe, JUST maybe, have good reason to be?

If the local people who spoke out against his group's plans at recent public meetings knew more about the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, he says, they would drop their opposition.

"It really, really hurts," says Abassi, 60, a retired U.S. Army pharmacist who works on biowarfare vaccines at nearby Fort Detrick. "We were chased out of Pakistan just because of our religious belief, and then to come here and have to put up with this again — it's a double-whammy."

The controversy here is the latest involving Muslim efforts to build or expand mosques and community centers. Local opposition has stalled projects in Pompano Beach, Fla.; Louisville; and Rockaway, N.J. Opponents often cite traffic or loss of tax revenues but, says Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, anti-Muslim bias plays a role.

"It's often couched in terms of parking or traffic or other logistical issues, but often when you scratch the surface you get statements about mosques being centers for terrorism," Hooper says. "It's an unfortunate fact that we have to live with in the post-9/11 era."

OK, NOT going to be Politically Correct here folks, but the truth, is the truth. FACT is some, and some say MOST, Mosques ARE centers for teaching hate and terrorism. Sorry. That is just a FACT. More on that in a bit.

Now I have a question. Maybe this is one of the problems some in this town may have. How many Churches or places of worship do you know that have two Gyms? If I read this correctly, how many Churches or places of worship do you know that are 224 acres large?

More than 300 people in this town of 6,000 turned out in August for a forum on the plan by the Ahmadis, a sect whose U.S. headquarters are an hour's drive south in the Washington suburb of Silver Spring. They came to hear about a proposed multipurpose recreation center with separate gymnasiums for men and women on two of the tract's 224 acres. The buildings would be used for prayer services, religion classes and athletics by 22 local families.

More contentiously, though, the property would host an annual three-day convention that could draw 5,000 people a day.

Soon after the forum, a planning commissioner proposed a zoning change to bar places of worship, as well as schools and private clubs, from being built on land zoned for agriculture. The measure will be discussed at a public meeting next week.

Among those opposed is Clark Millison, 70, a retired graphic designer. "I don't know that much about Muslims," he says, "but I understand they want to take over the world and want us all dead."

THAT is FACT. Not speculation. Not racism. Not intolerance. THAT is FACT. Ralph Whitmore the Mayor of this town said this.

"There's a lot of animosity. No, that's not a good word. There's a lot of, shall we say, apprehension," says Whitmore, who owns a feed store. "I do not believe this is going to be a terrorist training center. I just haven't heard enough outrage" from Muslims over the Sept. 11 attacks.

THAT is FACT. The Muslim community has NOT spoken out against all the murder and terrorist attacks by Muslims. By the way, ALL the terrorist attacks, have been done by those claiming to be MUSLIM. We are fighting a war against MUSLIMS. MUSLIMS have said, they want us dead. MUSLIMS have said, they want Israel destroyed. MUSLIMS have said, they want the world to become Muslim or die. Even this "Peaceful" sect says they want the world under one Flag, Islam.

The terrorists are NOT just some small wacko sect. This is a world wide movement. Muslims that have been saying the majority of these things, run countries. They are actively pursuing weapons of mass destruction, including Nuclear weapons, to achieve their goal. They have proven themselves to being LIARS. So why trust them when they say things like what Little Hitler spouted out during his visit, when we have a vast amount of evidence, including his own words, to the contrary?

The Mayor is right. And this is one of the biggest problems with trust. There has been NO condemnation and outcry by the Muslim community about 9-11, or ANY of the terrorist attacks and actions. So if they have chosen, as a total religion, to condone the actions of the terrorists, then would this not make them equal to agreeing with them?

Now this group is claiming that they are hated by Muslims also. According to this piece.

Ahmadis are considered heretics by Islam's Sunnis and Shiites and maintain no ties to mainstream Muslims. The sect began in 19th-century India when followers of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad proclaimed him the messiah, fulfilling Christian and Muslim prophecies of a second coming. Although the Ahmadis' holy book is the Quran, the Pakistani government has declared them non-Muslims.

This may very well be the case. But due to the FACTS I laid out a bit earlier, one HAS to understand why some people have come to a place of mistrust when dealing with ANYONE who claim to be Muslim. I do not feel that those in this town are Racists, or that they are committing religious discrimination. I believe that it is simply a case of they do not trust them. For that, Muslims need only to blame themselves.

Peter may I point out that Bfam's wife is Muslim. She is vocal about the injustice over there by the Muslims and she has relatives in the area.

Everyone once in awhile someone who does not have a pipeline into the area or the Muslim people spouts nonsense how the Muslims feel and it can be seen as the usual left wing putting words into the mouth of Muslims over there.

You made a good point that not enough step forward in the Muslim community and those who do have little or no exposure to the mass media passing on their sediments about their views against radical Muslims.

I occasionally see what are called moderate Muslims on TV who basically excuse the behavior of radical Muslims.

A similar example can be seen on ETP who those by their very silence have condoned the behavior of those who try to stop discourse of any view of any but their own.

You see what is happening to myself over there and yes I deserve some of it but the bottom line is there is no real outrage in what is happening to others like myself who are systematically discouraged and belittled.

Your post over there has received a couple or more of the LWL's responses and will receive more.

Apparently you are getting under the skin of several of them.

Hey Sam,

Thanks for the heads up on this. I am not blaming all Muslims. I understand that FEAR IS a major factor of some in the Muslim community NOT speaking up.

What some are taking offense to there, and here I'm sure, is the fact I am telling the truth. Right, wrong, or indifferent, when you look at the FACTS, you get what you get. Many look at the facts that ALL the terrorist attacks are done by those claiming to be Muslim. We have Muslim Nations stating "Death to America," and "Death to Israel." You have Muslims saying without a doubt they want the World to become Muslim, and those that do not, dead.

Then they watch the news. Read the papers, listen to the radio, and what is missing? What is missing is the voice of the Muslim Community denouncing this. So they see this as, again, right wrong, or indifferent, the Muslim Community itself condoning this at the least.

With all this together, many non-Muslims have grown to complete mistrust of ANY Muslim groups. Yet, of course, anyone like them in this town, or in the media, or even I, attempting to point out an alternative possibility, are labeled "Hatemonger" or "Racist" or whatever.

Sorry, just not the case. The Truth is some do not want to deal with REALITY. It seems to many in this country, that the REALITY is that those in the "Peaceful" aspect of Islam are not the majority. That it seems to be the reverse. Those that practice "Peacefully" seem to be the minority, and those extremist seem to be mainstream.

This type of community outrage to religious community gathering is not exclusive to Muslims, in the United States. I KNOW that other religions have these same issues when they wish to get building permits or to buy land. They are faced with multiple obstacles that can get very ridiculous when picked apart with a fine tooth comb. It usually starts with residential complaints about additional traffic.

I've seen specific religious communities have to fund huge city road developments as part of deals to further development deals to answer the traffic questions so they can build their community centers in larger areas.

On the Muslim note, however, I find my "peaceful" Muslim friends discouraging when they discuss their negativity about Israel.. its cultural conversation and there is no "conversing" to be had between us. That is an underlying hate that I can't help but fear. And these are my friends that do not live in the United States.

We have a real reason to have fears. I would like to see more non-radical Muslim speak about anti-terrorism and not just in a self-defensive manner. I know there are "good" and "bad" of all races and religions.. but where are these "groups" speaking out? If fear is keeping them quiet.. then fear is holding them back from their own future here..

Thank you for pointing out the facts.

Hey Heidi,

Welcome back.

Thank YOU for posting this.

This is my point exactly. This is just the REALITY of the situation. But talking about this, I have been call everything including Archie Bunker {Smile}

I understand your other point as well. I do not first hand, some Christian groups have been denied requests for land use, as well as some Jewish groups. There is a movement in this Country that wants ALL and everything God, out of public life.

The sad thing is, even with that, it seems some groups are MORE discriminated against than others.

But this case, the community has said, simply, we do not trust them. Not that they hate them, or even do not want them to be there because of religion for religion sake, but that they just do not trust them because of the FACTS. The facts of the actions of those in this religion, and as you pointed out, no condemnation by others in the same religion.

Thanks again.
Peter
