Libs Are Mad, Veto Stands, Horse Still Dead.

Hey folks,

I told you back on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 this.

“Yes folks, they do not have the votes. All this talk, and lies by the way, is nothing more than yet another political show for the Looney base. In reality, the LWL SCHIP Trojan Horse is dead. Again, in part, thanks to Talk Radio telling you the truth, and YOU calling your Representatives. Once again YOUR voice was heard. Is there ANY doubt WHY they want to silence it?”

Well they voted yesterday, and guess what? They didn’t have the votes. 273 / 156 in favor of the override. 13 short of the two-thirds majority needed to prevail in the override. That’s WAY short.

It all started today with Traitor and LWL Leader Pelosi. She said this on the House floor. Keep in mind, this extension would have covered “poor” $83,000 a year, “children” 25 years old and under, and increase the abuse of the original intent of the program. It really has, as been proven, NOTHING to do with poor kids. With all the facts about this plan the Dems had, this is truly an absurd and even really SAD speech.. She should be embarrassed for giving it.

“My colleagues, as I listen to the debate today, I hear a lot of subterfuge and distractions, but the fact is that this is a discussion about America's children. And it is a discussion about America. There is no industrialized country in the world that any one respects that does not provide health insurance for its children. We are the exception. Not a designation to be proud of. But the American people in their wisdom have this, not as an issue, but as a value, as an ethic.

That is why I am so proud of what has transpired since we took our first vote on this bill. That day I said we could establish ourselves as the children's Congress. And we did. The work remains to be done to bring that to fruition.”

To bring ANYTHING to fruition. You have done NOTHING.

“But in the meantime across our country, Democrats and Republicans, governors and mayors, people who work with children or have a responsibility of delivering on our system of health care, have been advocating for this reauthorization of SCHIP that we have before us today.”

They have also been ABUSING it as well. Covering Adults ETC.

“Our country has put poor children first. The poorest of the poor children in this country are able to receive health care through Medicaid. I wish you could have heard the stories of some of the parents told us. Bethany Wilkerson's parents were in the other day, and the press asked them if they were afraid if their family would come under attack because they were lobbying for SCHIP. 'We are already under attack, but we're proud to come forward to support this initiative,' they said. 'We're not proud of the fact that we are low-income. We're trying very hard to lift ourselves up higher into the middle-class. We work very hard not to be on Medicaid, but to be among the working poor, it's not something we brag about, but SCHIP is something that we need.'”

Are you proud of being USED Mrs. Wilkerson? Sorry, but we have already been lied to. We have already seen another “Poor family” that was already covered by SCHIP by the way, come out and use a 12 year old.

“So when the President wants to insure 4 or 5 million children instead of 10 million children in this initiative, is he the one, the decider, who wants to go that family and say, 'Your child is out?' Bethany had heart problems from birth; she turned 2-years-old in July. She has been told by some people as they lobbied: 'Well, the baby is better for now, you don't need SCHIP anymore.' But she does. But they said, 'We're not just lobbying for Bethany, we're lobbying for all the children.'

But that does not include people earning $83,000 a year. So while some of you may use that as an excuse not to vote for this program, I hope you know intellectually that it is not a reason to vote against SCHIP. There are currently no children enrolled in SCHIP with family income of 400 percent of the federal poverty level, $83,000 for a family of four. In fact, 91.3 percent of the children enrolled in SCHIP are in families of four that make less than 200 percent of poverty. And 99.95 percent of them are in families under 300 percent of poverty.”

That’s the whole concept of the EXTENSION To INCLUDE those making $83,000 a year.

“So this is a sad thing. We're asking people working hard, they're playing by the rules, and they're taking care of their families. They could have stayed out of work and stayed on Medicaid. But that's not what we're encouraging people to do in our country. We're encouraging them to move on and upward. And these families have to come forward and say why they have not attained the American dream of enough wealth to afford $1,200 a month in health insurance premiums and that's a big order.

I'm so pleased, though, with the work that the groups have done. Easter Seals, the March of Dimes, the Red Cross, all the organizations, working with the governors and mayors. Now 81 percent of the American people support this initiative. And let me also say that there are some myths about SCHIP. I don't really think they're myths, I think they're excuses not to vote for the bill. I mentioned one of them. Another one is about illegal aliens. Clearly, the bill states no federal funding for illegal aliens. It is also the law of the land. Illegal aliens do not get benefits. So don't use that as an excuse to deprive 10 million children in our country who are eligible for enrollment in SCHIP that they shouldn't get it.”

HOLD IT “Now 81 percent of the American people support this initiative.” Complete and utter BUNK. No. Complete and utter BULL. As for, “ Illegal aliens do not get benefits.” What planet are we talking about here?

“This has been a bipartisan effort. And some of what has been said about this is simply not true. But don't take it from me. Senator Orrin Hatch, former chair of the Health Committee, in the Senate now, a ranking member said: 'I believe that some have given the President bad advice on this matter because I believe that supporting this bipartisan compromise to provide health coverage to low-income children is the morally right thing to do. If we were truly compassionate, it seems to me we'd endorse this program.' Senator Orrin Hatch, Republican of Utah.

Senator Charles Grassley, former chair of the Finance Committee, another committee of jurisdiction, now the ranking member said: 'The President's claims about SCHIP are flatly incorrect. The SCHIP bill is not a government takeover of health care. Screaming 'socialized medicine' during a health care debate is like shouting 'fire' in a crowded theater. It is intended to cause hysteria that diverts people from looking at the facts.' Senator Grassley, Republican of Iowa.”

Yeah, but the only problem is, when there IS a fire, you better scream. It IS Government takeover. I’m happy to scream it. I’m glad the President did, Rush did, Hannity did, and all those in the know, did. We did not get burned.

“And so my colleagues, we have a decision today to override the President's veto, which would be in my view the right thing to do for our children and for our country. It's not about compassion, it's about fairness. And this is a bill that has been bipartisan in its development and required enormous sacrifice from the Democrats in the House of Representatives. We had a much higher goal. This is what is achievable for the children. It should have been signed by the President. There is no reason that he has given that is consistent with the facts. And so I urge my colleagues to think about the children, to think about Bethany and the other children.

The President is isolated in this. Don't join him in his isolation. Come forward on behalf of the children and let's truly send a signal that we are about the future. I tried to do that when I was sworn in as Speaker surrounded by children. It was a spontaneous moment, but it was one that was clear in its message: we are gaveling this House to order on behalf of the children.

There is nothing more important that we have to do in our work than make sure that our children are healthy and safe. Today, we have an opportunity to do that; let's not miss that opportunity. Let's give a vote for the children and against the President's veto.”

UH, Nancy? The President is NOT isolated in this. Even after all the hard work you and your brood conspired and tried to do, the President STILL is not isolated in this. The RIGHT thing happened yesterday.

Now I could spend the next two hours, 10 to 20 pages, just posting all the press releases from all the Lib LWL organizations out there that have lost their minds over this failure. But I won’t. The all say the same thing. Like this one from the Campaign for America's Future co-director Roger Hickey.

“One hundred and fifty-six House Members declared themselves enemies of children and families with this vote. Ignoring the will of the people, a conservative minority in the House sustained the president's veto and denied nearly 5 million children access to health insurance. Upholding the president's veto is only the latest obstruction to progress by Washington conservatives.”

I hope they KEEP obstructing your plans for Socialism.

“An overwhelming majority of Americans support populist reforms, but conservatives have repeatedly used filibusters and vetoes to block this progress and then they hypocritically blame others for a lack of congressional action. The record is clear. Congressional conservatives and the president are the culprits who have stood in the way of a new progressive direction for our nation. Our children will pay a steep price for their cruel politics.”

STOP!! Get THIS. Listen to, uh, read that again. “Congressional conservatives and the president are the culprits who have stood in the way of a new progressive direction for our nation”

“A new progressive direction for our nation” SOCIALISM! He just came out and said it.

“Conservatives celebrate the veto at their own peril. Voters are calling on their government to solve the health care crisis for Americans of all ages. Where legislators stood on expanding children's health care is a good indication of where they will stand on critical reforms needed to provide affordable health care for all -- an issue that will be at the center of our political debate in next year's elections.”

I’m telling you folks, 08 in more important than you realize. A Republican rebuttal? How about this from House Republican Whip Roy Blunt

“Today's vote brings to a close what's been a disappointing chapter on SCHIP, with Democrats devoting every bit of their energy to scoring political points, and none of it toward working with Republicans to craft an appropriate compromise that can be signed into law.”

As a matter of fact, right after this, yet another miserable failure by the LWL, the President called on the Democrats to work together with the Republicans in the House and Senate, to come up with a new plan that will not be vetoed.

“A funny thing is starting to happen, though, as the majority takes its victory laps and continues to exploit the program for partisan political purposes: more and more Americans are beginning to take a closer look at what they're trying to do. And the more they learn, the less they like.

The president's veto now formally sustained, Democrats have before them a simple choice: Either sit down with Republicans to reauthorize SCHIP in a way that ensures health care funding for poor kids, or toss the policy considerations aside in favor of a strictly partisan, willfully inflexible approach.

If the majority's overriding concern rested with the health and well being of our nation's children, its decision on what to do next would be easy to predict. As it is, unfortunately, it's anyone's guess.”

So what WAS their response to this request to come together in a TRULY bipartisan way to fix this? Well, according to the AP - Health deal sought after veto upheld By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent

The Democratic-controlled House failed on Thursday to override President Bush's veto of a politically popular children's health bill, and the White House instantly called for compromise talks on a replacement.

"As long as the bottom line is that 10 million children are covered. That's non-negotiable," responded Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. She pledged that new legislation would be ready within two weeks, and within hours, key lawmakers met to consider changes in the vetoed measure.

Yeah, she continued the talk and show, but she knows they HAVE to do something about this. Something SANE that is.

But they are NOT happy. Also as reported by the AP,

"You either stand with our children or you stand against them," said Rep. Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, a member of the Democratic leadership. "There is no in between."

Blah, blah, blah. Same old bunk. But then THIS, now famous, statement by Rep. Pete Stark, D-Calif

"You don't have money to fund the war or children," he told Republicans. "But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."

He needs to resign.

"Congressman Stark should retract his statement and apologize to the House, our commander in chief, and the families of our soldiers and commanders fighting terror overseas," said Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, the House Republican leader

Blunt said this.

“Pete Stark's statements on the House floor this afternoon crossed all lines of decency and decorum. As a member of Congress, he should be ashamed. But as a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee - and the current chairman of its Health subcommittee - the Democratic leadership ought to be ashamed as well.

To claim our men and women in Iraq are serving there for the president's own personal enjoyment - and worse, to suggest he's actually 'amused' by the image of soldiers being killed - represents a crass appeal to the worst, most base elements of our population. It dishonors the continued sacrifice of our troops in the field, and disrespects their family and friends at home who pray for their safe return. The Democratic leadership should denounce these comments immediately, and Mr. Stark should apologize for making them as well.”

Again he needs to resign. Wait,,,{Laughing} I just caught this. Read that again.

“To claim our men and women in Iraq are serving there for the president's own personal enjoyment - and worse, to suggest he's actually 'amused' by the image of soldiers being killed - represents a crass appeal to the worst, most base elements of our population.”

Translation? “worst, most base elements of our population.” MoveOn.org, Media Matters, Soros, and the rest of the LWL. {Laughing harder} House Republican Whip Roy Blunt just called them out. He just called a Duck a Duck They will NOT be happy with that one. As a matter of fact, they will probably use THAT statement by Blunt, to divert attention away from the insane one by by Rep. Pete Stark, D-Calif.

Basically folks, it all boils down to this. The Horse is dead. The move is now on the side of the LWL. Work together, or continue to beat it.
