Hey folks,
Here is more evidence of the on going war, here at home. It’s a war that pits President Bush, the Soldiers, and most Americans, against the terrorists, MMD {Mainstream Media Drones} and those in this country that WANT us to lose, the LWL {That’s Left Wing Looneys, you know the Democrat leadership}
According to The Guardian
The administration is also coming under growing pressure from a Democratic-controlled Congress to bring troops home. Starting this week, Congress plans to hold the first in a series of votes on legislation to force the White House to set a timetable for the withdrawal of combat troops by September 2008, or face cuts in war funding.
They do not have the votes. What they are trying to do folks, is convince you that this would be the right decision. As they say, "Tell a lie long enough, it becomes real. Even to you." They are beating you down every day, hoping that it sticks.
In advocating more US forces, Gen Petraeus is taking a markedly different tack from the retiring commander for the Middle East, John Abizaid, who wanted to hand over responsibility for security to the Iraqis as quickly as possible and get US combat forces out by next year.
How about we leave when the job is done? That IS what most Americans want. NO true American want us to lose ANY WAR.
But the El Salvador strategy, in which the US sent 55 Green Berets to help its military fight rebels there from 1981 to 1992, has its detractors.
Barry McCaffrey, a retired general who is a big supporter of Gen Petraeus, has warned against relying too much on the El Salvador model. He has said it would be a mistake to have military advisors in Iraq without significant numbers of combat forces.
"You can see hints of support for withdrawing combat troops coming out of the military," Gen McCaffrey told the LA Times. "But if we pull out our combat forces, and leave a substantial US presence in Iraq, we are asking for a humiliation the likes of which we haven't seen since Custer's battle."
THAT is what they want. They want their own country to be humiliated. They want us to lose the war. All because all they care about is getting Bush.
But WAIT!! What this?
AFTER WEEKS OF internal strife, House Democrats have brought forth their proposal for forcing President Bush to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq by 2008. The plan is an unruly mess: bad public policy, bad precedent and bad politics. If the legislation passes, Bush says he'll veto it, as well he should.
It was one thing for the House to pass a nonbinding vote of disapproval. It's quite another for it to set out a detailed timetable with specific benchmarks and conditions for the continuation of the conflict. Imagine if Dwight Eisenhower had been forced to adhere to a congressional war plan in scheduling the Normandy landings or if, in 1863, President Lincoln had been forced by Congress to conclude the Civil War the following year. This is the worst kind of congressional meddling in military strategy.
Really?
By interfering with the discretion of the commander in chief and military leaders in order to fulfill domestic political needs, Congress undermines whatever prospects remain of a successful outcome. It's absurd for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to try to micromanage the conflict, and the evolution of Iraqi society, with arbitrary timetables and benchmarks.
Congress should not hinder Bush's ability to seek the best possible endgame to this very bad war. The president needs the leeway to threaten, or negotiate with, Sunnis and Shiites and Kurds, Syrians and Iranians and Turks. Congress can find many ways to express its view that U.S. involvement, certainly at this level, must not go on indefinitely, but it must not limit the president's ability to maneuver at this critical juncture.
That was in an Op-Ed in the LA Times entitled, "Do we really need a Gen. Pelosi?" {Laughing} they do not say who wrote it. Then you have VP Cheney. He really is starting to become my hero. He is finally telling the truth. He is FINALLY saying what the President SHOULD have been saying all along. According to Reuters-Cheney: "Iraq war undercut by plans in Congress"
The U.S. war effort in Iraq is being undercut by members of Congress calling for deadlines and funding restrictions that simply encourage the enemy to "wait us out," Vice President Dick Cheney said on Monday.
"When members of Congress pursue an anti-war strategy that's been called slow bleed, they're not supporting the troops, they're undermining them," Cheney said in a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-Israel lobbying group.
Then he said,
"When members of Congress speak not of victory but of time limits, deadlines or other arbitrary measures, they're telling the enemy simply to watch the clock and wait us out," Cheney said, reiterating the administration's long-held view.
One hundred percent true. Amazing. But this is one of the many reasons they ARE the LWL.

You know Peter it makes you wonder.
A few years ago some of these people would have been called traitors.
Bill
Not too Long ago at that. Not to long aog, the average American would be calling for their heads. They would all be run out of office.
We are starting to show the MMD, is losing it's power. The LWL, not as strong and powerful as they thought they were. Don't get me wrong, they can still do major damage to this country, but they will have a harder time at doing it.
Even some in their own party are coming out saying this is not what THEY want to do.
I wish someone WOULD call them traitors. Communicating and actually going to see the enemy, calling for America to lose. Attempting to strip the President of his authority as Commander and Chief, ETC. All these things ARE traitorous actions. But don't forget, they support the Troops. {Sigh}
