Australian Terrorist, Abused?

Hey folks,

I mentioned that this is what I wanted to comment on yesterday morning, then I saw the devastation or the tornados. I do not have much time this morning, so let me get right to it.

An Australian detainee facing U.S. terrorism charges, David Hicks, has complained of torture and abuse at the Guantanamo Bay jail in Cuba, Australian media reported on Friday.

Charges brought against Hicks on Thursday were the first brought against a suspected al Qaeda or Taliban member under a military commissions law passed by the U.S. Congress last year, the Pentagon said.

Translation, he was assisting the terrorists to fight AGAINST us and Australia. The tell tail sign of this is true? Australia is NOT trying to secure his release. If he was just an imprisoned Australian citizen, do you NOT think that they would be asking for his release? They are starting to now ask for a trial for Hicks because he has been there for five years, but no where do you see the Government saying to release him outright. They want him tried. So we are about to do that.

Prime Minister John Howard, one of U.S. President George W. Bush's closest allies, raised the length of Hicks' detention with Bush and pressed Vice President Dick Cheney for a speedy trial when he visited Sydney last weekend.

Now he is attempting to become a British citizen, because some British detainees HAVE been released at the request of the British government. His reason for the abuse claim?

Hicks, in an application for British citizenship, said he had been shown a photo of a battered fellow inmate, and was told he would be sent to Egypt for similar treatment if he did not cooperate, the Sydney Morning Herald said.

Hicks, the sole Australian at Guantanamo Bay, said the anxiety caused by months of abuse forced him to "say anything" to military interrogators. The United States has denied any abuse at the prison.

Showing him photos, is months of abuse? {Sigh} You know folks, this is simply a terrorist lover, America hater, prisoner, trying to get out ANYWAY he can. Of course the US is denying any abuse. But to say even if he was shown pictures, is abuse?

You want to know about abuse and torture? Ask some left over from Saddam’s time. Ask how they have become maimed, scared, watched their friends and families be raped, burned with acid, killed. You want to know about torture? Ask some of our own soldiers that have been. Showing a picture? That’s just idiotic. The chief U.S. military prosecutor at Guantanamo Bay, Colonel Moe Davis, said,

"I think if you look at the material support for terrorism charge I think that provides a fair representation of the conduct that we seek to hold Mr Hicks accountable for," Davis told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio.

In the charging documents, the U.S. military said Hicks supported terrorism by attending al Qaeda training courses, conducted surveillance on the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, guarded a tank outside Kandahar airport and fought U.S. and coalition forces for about two hours.

So he is having the trial. For five years, it has never been reported that he complained about this. Now as his trial is about to start, he wants out. Interesting.

I get so tired of the anti-war, anti-America, Bush Whackers, continuously trying to cuff this country from doing what it takes to defend itself against these low life murderous animals. Now, because this guy says he was abused, the media reports it this way. The headline I’m talking about in this case is, "Australia's Hicks alleges U.S. abuse at Guantanamo" by Reuters.

The problem is, when you read the whole article, the only case of abuse that Hicks is complaining about, is he was shown pictures. Believe this, if there was any evidence of other abuse, the mass media would be reporting it. They don’t in this case, because there is NO abuse.

I hope he gets his trial soon. I hope that, if the evidence proves his guilt, he gets the full extent of the law. Even if Reuters, the MMD, the LWL, and the spineless, gutless, anti-war crowd, doesn’t understand, terrorists bad, America good.
