Happy Monday to you. I am surprised, I know I should not be, but I am. I’m surprised that not everyone has heard yet. I was talking to someone on Saturday about "Global Warming." I said to them, "Well, this is just further proof that the whole Global Warming bunk is all about money and control." They said, "What is?" I said the fact that Al Gore is buying "Offsets" from himself. They said "Don’t be ridiculous. What are you talking about." I was truly surprised.I know the mainstream media is not reporting this. But it was all over the place on the radio, blogs, and other "New Media" outlets on Friday. I did not really feel the need to post on this. But for this person to be completely ignorant of this fact, being a media junky, I was amazed that they truly had not heard about it. So here you go, incase you too, have missed this.

They use compact fluorescent light bulbs and are in the midst of a renovation project that includes having solar panels installed on their home to reduce fossil fuel consumption, she said.
Their car? A Lexis hybrid SUV.
"They, of course, also do the carbon emissions offset," she said.
That means figuring out how much carbon is emitted from home power use, and vehicle and plane travel, then paying for projects that will offset that with use of renewable energy, such as solar power.
Gore helped found Generation Investment Management, through which he and others pay for offsets. The firm invests the money in solar, wind and other projects that reduce energy consumption around the globe, she said.

As co-founder and chairman of the firm Gore presumably draws an income or will make money as its investments prosper. In other words, he "buys" his "carbon offsets" from himself, through a transaction designed to boost his own investments and return a profit to himself. To be blunt, Gore doesn’t buy "carbon offsets" through Generation Investment Management - he buys stocks.
And it is not clear at all that Gore’s stock purchases - excuse me, "carbon offsets" purchases - actually help reduce the use of carbon-based energy at all, while the gas lanterns and other carbon-based energy burners at his house continue to burn carbon-based fuels and pump carbon emissions - a/k/a/ "greenhouse gases" - into the atmosphere.
As the news media swarmed around the story of Gore’s gargantuan energy consumption yesterday, Gore’s people touted his purchase of "carbon offsets" as evidence that he lives a "carbon-neutral" lifestyle, but the truth is Gore’s home uses electricity that is, for the most part, derived from the burning of carbon fuels. His house gets its electricity from Nashville Electric Service, which gets its from the Tennessee Valley Authority, which produces most of its power from coal-burning power plants. Which means most of the power being consumed at the Gore mansion comes from carbon-emitting power sources.
So he IS buying "Carbon Offsets" from himself. If the government can get involved in creating laws that require "Carbon Offsets," he stands to make A LOT of money. Meanwhile HE is not changing anything. Well, actually as I pointed out to you, he has INCREASED his carbon footprint since the release of his Sci-fi "An Inconvenient Truth" but that is ok, because he buys "Carbon Offsets." So he can have the "Right" to say he is carbon free. The problem is, he is actually investing in his own company. You can not buy from them. So??
This is a total scam. As with most scams, the truth comes out. The scam is discovered. The only reason this one is continuing for this long IS because it is all about money. A lot of money. The Government could also get involved and TAX all this, or set penalties for those of YOU that do not keep your offsets and footprints in check.

I agree I have tried to point out to some others that his buying carbon credits does nothing to eliminate his use of them but is a handy way around still "polluting" as he calls it while really do nothing to stop his own behavior.
He can put in all the energy effective equipment he wants but this little practice of basically getting around the "problem" shows his disingenuousness.
In other words do as I say but not as I do.
It's not what Al Gore's movie tells you that is wrong; It's what it doesn't tell you.
Al Gore's movie is like any other doomsday scenario. It is presented with the worse case situations and exsagerated to make a point even when it is not valid.
I remember the same stuff years ago portraying doom and gloom if we do not do this or that.
The oil was going to run out yada yada. In fact they have just discovered a way to extract more oil out of current wells.
The food supply would not be able to feed the world yada yada

Even if he wasn't buying them from himself, they still mean NOTHING. It does not effect the "damage" that he is doing.
Yet some want me and you to pay fines, and possibly even be charged in the future if we fail to do, what they are NOT doing.

Pithy, and I agree one hundred percent. It’s all Sci-Fi. All about money. As Sam pointed out, all these other things they have attempted to pass off, make movies of, can all be tracked by the money trail. As with all the things in the past, this too will be proven false.

What Al Gore didn’t tell you.
From about 1940 until the late 1970;s the earth’s ground temperature was cooling. In 1970 fears of global cooling where attributed to mankind’s so called pollution of the atmosphere, which was blocking out the sun. Then in the 80’s and 90’s temperatures started rising. And it turned to global warming.
From 1400 to about 1860 the planet was in a cool period, sometimes called the “Little Ice Age”.
Temperatures today are back to the levels 1000 A.D. to 1350 sometimes termed “Medieval Warm Period”.
CO2 is less than 4/100ths of 1% of all gases present.
95% of all so called greenhouse gases is water vapor.
CO2 is not a one way filter.
The dynamics of the earth is not the same as a simple greenhouse.
Antarctica on average is getting thicker.
The Vikings use to live and farm Greenland.
By the year 2050 humans will add 2,409 billion pounds/year of CO2 to the Atmosphere, by breathing.
Al’s graph was a combination of 2 graphs. The left side was from ice core drills in Antarctica, recordings used from only 1000 years ago till 1890. What is called proxy measurements. The right side was from air grabs from Maua Loa a volcano in Hawaii, 1954 till 2005. (Are we missing some years here?)
The thermometer was invented in 1714. Average year temperature in 1822 in Albany N.Y. was 49.2. In 2005 after the industrial revolution it was 49.2.
Today co2 is about 370ppm. Over the life of the planet it has been as high as 7000ppm.
In the late Ordovician period about 450 million years ago co2 was 4000ppm yet earth’s temperature was the same as today. Co2 has only once been this low in the planet’s history and that was about 275 million years ago.
In 1998 17,000 scientist signed the Oregon Report, which denied that mankind was effecting global warming.
Nasa with their satellite and balloon measurements said that over the past 18+ years there is no warming trend over the planet.
So the planet is presently warming, but what is causing it. Could it possibly be the sun?
The real danger with groups like the Chicken Little (global warming) ones is that they falsify and use bad data to prove an already formed conclusion. The idea or morality of Science is to find out the truth and to do so by arriving at a conclusion AFTER all the facts are in. Al’s moral message was anything but moral, unless we can use it to define what immoral is.
If the rest of the scientific community continues on the path demonstrated by Chicken Little the human race may very well be in grave danger.

This is an excellent addition to the on going discussion of the scam known as global warming. I thing it is deserving of more that just the comment section. I am going to add it to the two part article “The Continuing Saga, March Toward STEALING Your Money.”that will appear tomorrow morning.
You seem to be very knowledgeable on this subject. I appreciate you posting this here. Thank you. I also agree and have commented about the “global cooling” in the past. The comical part of this, is a lot of it is the SAME people.
They now have “friends” in high places and are pushing hard to get them to work for them. President Bush seems ready to just allow them to do anything they want on this subject. He may have even bought it to this garbage, or he is attempt to reach out in a non-partisan way to the chicken little crowd. Either way, doesn’t make it the truth.
I love the way these people demand you believe them, even when there is no, I repeat, NO scientific evidence at all that it even exists. They continue to push this or that THEORY, when that proves false, they simple change the story. When that is proven wrong, they change it again.
Then of course, regardless of what they say you have to do, they make excuses, and will NEVER do what they preach. It’s all about money, power, and control.
