IWA For Sunday December 10, 2006
Hey folks,
It’s Sunday, time for the IWA. This one is short and sweet. This guy from Portland is most definitely an idiot. No doubt about it.
It has happen to most of us. Myself included, uh, more times than I care to mention. {Smile} There you are, late for work, late going home, or just taking a trip somewhere when you look in the rearview and see flashing lights.
You give the standard, "What’s up Officer, was I doing something wrong?" He gives you the standard, "Do you know how fast you were going?" Of course you do. As soon as you saw him, you looked, tried to slow down without being obvious, and hoped he was eating lunch. But you say, "Uh, no." Then he tells you and asked for your license and registration.
We also know that GREAT feeling when we see the flashing lights as the fly passed us as we slowly pull over. But this guy?
According to KGW.com-"Man Rams Portland Police Upset About Not Being Pulled Over"
"Portland Police Spokesperson Brian Schmautz said shortly after 5:00 p.m. Friday night officers at the Northeast Precinct on NE Emerson St. got a call that someone had just hit one of their patrol cars, then backed up and hit it again.
The officers went outside and saw an abandoned Honda Civic that happened to be right next to the damaged patrol car.
A short time later police found the driver of the Honda, 35-year-old Jason Klopf.
Klopf apparently told officers he was upset because he had been driving around on city streets at over 100 mph and no one ever pulled him over to give him a ticket.
Ramming the police cruiser didn't get him a speeding ticket but Klopf did manage to get himself a trip the Multnomah County Jail on charges of reckless driving and criminal mischief."
Now this report doesn’t say WHY he wanted a ticket. It doesn’t say, why he was driving around 100 miles an hour. But if it was attention from the Portland PD he wanted, he got it. Congratulations Mr. Klopf, you ARE the Idiot of the Week.
