Iran Cutting Ties, Getting Ready

Let's Not Forget Iran.

Hey folks,

I do not even know how many times I can say this. How many ways I can say this. I do not understand why people STILL do not get it. SANCTIONS WILL NOT WORK. According to Iran Focus - Merkel calls for more sanctions against Iran Monday, 18 January 2010 By Allyn Fisher-Ilan

BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany will prepare possible further sanctions against Iran in the coming weeks if there is no change in Tehran's stance on its disputed nuclear program, Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday.

Six world powers, including Germany, discussed the prospects for further sanctions over Iran's nuclear work in New York on Saturday but China made clear it opposed more punitive action, at least for now.

Western nations suspect the Islamic Republic will use its atomic technology to develop a nuclear bomb but Tehran says the work is aimed only at generating electricity. It has rebuffed international pressure to halt nuclear fuel enrichment or send its enriched uranium stockpile abroad for refinement.

"Germany has made clear that if Iran's reaction does not change, we will be working on a comprehensive package of sanctions," Merkel said at a joint news conference in Berlin with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"Of course we would prefer it if these (sanctions) could be agreed within the framework of the United Nations Security Council," she said, adding that officials would be working to that end in the coming weeks.

"But Germany will take part in sanctions with other countries that are pursuing the same goal," she said.

Netanyahu went further, saying the time had come to apply "crippling sanctions" against Iran over its nuclear program.

"If we don't apply sanctions, crippling sanctions against this Iranian tyranny, when shall we apply them? If not now, when? The answer is now," he said.

Israel, assumed to be the Middle East's only nuclear power, sees Iran's project as a threat to its existence, citing hostile rhetoric against the Jewish state by Iranian leaders.

Of course they do. Little Hitler came right out and said he will wipe Israel off the map. He has already said he will destroy the "Great Satan" {America} He has already said Sanctions will not work. They haven't.

It has not ruled out using force if diplomatic pressure and economic sanctions fail to stop Iran's nuclear plans.

I hope so. I doubt our President has the, uh, testicular fortitude to even look at that possibility. Iran is getting even closer than some think. Perhaps even I. Even as closely as I watch them, this bothers me a bit. Iran is talking about cutting ties to Britain. According to Reuters - Iran to review ties with Britain - report Monday, 18 January 2010

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran will review ties with Britain in a dozen fields, state television quoted Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki as saying on Monday in the latest sign of troubled relations with London.

Britain is one of the Western powers at odds with Iran over its disputed nuclear programme, and has frequently been accused by Tehran of meddling in Iranian affairs and fomenting anti-government protests -- charges it has denied.

"Iran to review ties with Britain in 12 working fields," English-language Press TV said, giving no further details.

State broadcaster IRIB quoted Mottaki as saying Iran had relations with Britain in 10-12 fields.

"All these fields of relations (with Britain) are under study and each field would be reviewed in accordance with the country's national interests ... and at the end the government will make the final decision," Mottaki said.

Last week, Iranian media said dozens of members of parliament had put forward a proposal to cut relations with Britain.

In late December, Iran summoned the British ambassador in Tehran and Mottaki threatened Britain with a "slap in the mouth" if it did not stop interfering in Iranian affairs.

That came after Foreign Secretary David Miliband criticised Iranian authorities over the deaths of eight people in anti-government protests on December 27.

Iranian officials have repeatedly accused Western powers, including Britain, of stirring up street protests that erupted after the Islamic state's disputed election in June.

Iran has been convulsed by its most serious domestic unrest since the Islamic revolution in 1979, as protests by opposition supporters against the election result have turned violent. Authorities deny opposition allegations that voting was rigged.

The United States cut relations with Tehran shortly after Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution that toppled the U.S.-backed shah.

Cutting ties, disregards for Sanctions, increased rhetoric. Seems as if they are gearing up for something. WHAT is the question. We already know that they have more Nuclear Facilities then they first disclosed. We already know what the end game is. Now they are making this move? Perhaps they are even closer than I think. Perhaps it is time to let them know we are serious. They are.
