Watching Gustav and The Loons

Sane vs Insane Part Two

Hey folks,

Yes I am right here in the OPNTalk Blog office today. I am keeping an eye on the storm and watching how McCain and Palin, Obama and Biden, and the Bush Administration, are handling this situation. I am praying for those in the Gulf Coast, and I am joining in with MANY across the country in HOPING that Gustav will cause minimal damage and HOPING that all there will be OK.

But as I am jumping around the news and different Live Webcams, I caught THIS. You know folks, I while back I talked about the difference between the Sane and Insane. Back on September 14, 2007, I posted this. OPNTalk - The Difference Between Sane and Insane I was, at that time, talking about the anniversary of 9/11. I said this.

A couple of days ago, we observed the sixth anniversary of 9-11. The following are some comments about that, and what SOME are doing to ensure that it does not happen again. Through all this, I actually met a Democrat, that I would like to learn more about. More on that in a second. Here you go. First up? Screaming Howard Dean.

I posted Dean's comments and Pelosi's comments on the anniversary of 9/11, and how they used this to attack Bush, political gain, and forget to actually Honor the VICTIMS of that deadliest attack on American soil.

Then the Sane. I posted THIS.

Now for the more sane. Here is someone I need to get to know better. I’ll admit, I never heard of her before. Not with any consistency. Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-OH) released this statement in observance of the sixth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

God rest her soul. She pasted on this past year. In her memory, I will post her entire statement that actually moved me.

"September 11, 2001 was a moment in history that forever changed the lives of our citizens and our country. After six years of anger, grief, loss, and vulnerability we continue to press on by rebuilding our communities and renewing our spirits. The greatest way we can honor the memories of the 3,000 who died on that tragic day is to ensure the safety our Nation today. That is why I am proud to have been a co-sponsor of H.R.1, the new security bill signed into law by President Bush on August 3, 2007, which finally enacts the recommendations of the bipartisan 9/11 Commission.

This legislation provides a myriad of measures which will strengthen the safety of our Nation and keep our country's families safe, including accelerating the installation of advanced (in-line) electronic explosive screening systems for checked baggage at airports throughout the United States, improving explosive detection at passenger screening checkpoints at airports, and provides that homeland security grants be allocated primarily on the basis of risk. This legislation takes aggressive steps to better prevent terrorist travel authorizing more than $4 billion over the next four years to improve the security of mass transit, rail, and buses. Additionally, it promises to improve the security of our critical infrastructure -- such as our dams, our bridges, our power grids, and our telecommunications systems, and strengthens intelligence and information sharing with local law enforcement, including strengthening state and local intelligence fusion centers.

I am proud to have supported the passage the 9/11 bill which is one of the most paramount pieces of legislation enacted by the 110th Congress. We must ensure the safety of our Nation's citizens and make certain that the tragic events that occurred on September 11, 2001 are never repeated. May we continue to remember those families who lost loved ones during this heartbreaking event at this time six years ago and pray that they find comfort and strength."

Here is what I found out about her. Currently in her fifth term in office, the Congresswoman, a strong advocate for many issues, has championed wealth building and economic development, access and delivery of health care, and quality education for all. The Congresswoman chairs the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct (Ethics). Additionally, she serves on the powerful Ways and Means Committee and is an active member of numerous Congressional Caucuses, including the Congressional Black Caucus.

The more I found out about her, the more I liked her. YES, I did not agree with her on many things, but she showed intelligence, grace, and humility. May her family have the peace they need in this time. Here is a Democrat that understood, some things are bigger than Politics. Some things SHOULD unite the country and bring people together for the common good.

I also posted comments from others showing they were doing the same. So now we have Gustav. Gustav is NOT Republican, nor Democrat. It does not care if you are rich or poor. It does not care if you are Black or White. It is here. It will destroy everything equally without prejudice.

As I told you this morning. Obama and Biden, or Obinen, have release statements about wishing and hoping, Biden even encouraged Prayer. I'm with him on that one, and Obama said he would tell his Obamaites to give money after.

McCain and Palin? Well they WENT there. They saw the evacuation routes, inspected the Emergency response locations and called on all of America to forget politics and to come together as one to help those in need during this possible time of disaster. McCain even said Screw the Convention. Forget the show. Do whatever you have to legally and for the process, but the glitz and glamour? Forget about it. He even said that if he felt it necessary, he would give his acceptance speech from the Gulf Coast. Not the Convention.

Then you have this group.

"The main effect of this scaling back of the convention ... is that our voices will be front and center and it will be the main news that is happening," coalition spokeswoman Jess Sundin said Sunday. "The world will see people of this country say no to the war in Iraq."

Coalition to March is just one of those self important far Left Wing Loony fringe groups that want to feel their lives matter. Jess Sundin is a person looking for her 15 minutes. That's all. Nothing more.

Now do not get me wrong here folks. They have the Right to speak. Little Jess has the Right to protest, march, speak out, or whatever she wants to do, but it tells you a lot about these idiots when a looming natural disaster makes them think that THEY will be the big news. They do not care about the people in the Gulf Coast. Truth is, they do not even care about the Soldiers fighting the War. Just like most of the LWL groups out there, all the care about is feeling important. They do these things because they think that this type of action will give their otherwise meaningless lives meaning. That they matter. Sad really if you think about it.

But here were go. The difference between the sane and the insane. A Presidential Candidate cutting back and maybe not even attending the Convention for his own acceptance speech. Traveling to and checking out the readiness of the teams standing by for a possible looming disaster. Then this group, that truly believes that this is a GOOD thing, because THEY will be the big news. {Sigh}

I will bet you this though, if 50 thousand people fail to show, little Jess will blame Gustav. {Laughing} Not the fact that her voice is not echoed by anyone other than the other Loons out there.
