Energy Debate Continues Part One

Democrats STILL do not get it

Hey folks,

Happy Sunday to you. We are going to have to spend some time on this one. Once again the Energy Debate is heating up in the House. Once again, the Democrats would rather play political games, blame Republicans, and do nothing, while we are about to see yet another jump in Gas prices. Which I warned you about by the way. So we are going to spend some time in this debate. In this part, part one, we are going hear from the Democrats. Part two, we are going to look at this new proposal the gang of ten, now 16, have come up with. Actually there may be up to 21 names on it. Then in part three, we are going to deal with reality.

Now according to the AP - Democrats: GOP should support drilling compromise

Democrats sought on Saturday to drum up support for compromise legislation on offshore drilling, challenging Republicans to break from Bush administration policies that neglect development of alternative energy sources.

"Enough is enough," Sen. Ken Salazar of Colorado said in the Democrats' weekly radio address, citing rising energy prices, including $4-a-gallon diesel fuel.

Salazar chastised Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, and other Senate Republicans who have blocked and opposed tax incentives for renewable energy.

"President Bush and Sen. McCain have failed to show any leadership on this issue for the last eight years," Salazar said. "Republicans have to decide whether they just want to talk about our energy problems on the campaign trail, or whether they will work with Democrats to actually solve them."

This guy is a complete Moron. No. I'll take that back. He is just toting the party line. Reading the script. Being a good little Democrat. The only one standing in the way of a REAL solution is Nancy Pelosi. That's it. It is the Democrats that would rather fill this proposal with nothing but more taxes and regulations that actually HINDER new production. Instead of just allowing an up or down vote to lift the ban, THEY are the ones that are standing in the way.

The Senate next week will consider at least three proposals that call for an expansion of offshore drilling — one being developed by Democrats, another by Republicans and a third by a bipartisan group. All are expected to have some expansion of offshore drilling, but doubts remains as whether any of the proposals being considered will garner the needed 60 votes required to overcome a certain filibuster.

Without Nancy Pelosi and the LWL Leadership standing in the way, we would be working on this already. No new taxes, no new regulations, no more games. Just LET them Drill here, Drill now, so we can all pay less. It really IS a simple concept. It is NOT the Republicans standing in the way of this. It is Nancy Pelosi who has a vested interest in T Boone Pickens plan, and the "Tree hugging, sprout eating, Liberals" that have PUT us in this situation and are KEEPING us here.

Salazar is part of the bipartisan group supporting a proposal that calls for both limited offshore drilling and taxing the oil industry, while funneling more money into renewable energy. Republican leaders have not embraced the compromise.

AS WELL THEY SHOULD NOT! This is NOT a good plan. This is absolutely stupid. It will not increase one drop of new oil, lower prices, nor will it do anything but put unreasonable and undue burdens on those that will invest millions to get the oil.

In his address, Salazar said many Republicans seem to believe that drilling alone is the answer to the nation's energy problems.

"We need to replace the oil we import from countries that don't like us with alternative energy sources that we produce right here at home. Biofuels. Wind. Solar. Hydrogen. Geothermal. Clean Coal. American energy, American jobs. That's what we need," he said.

Yup. The problem is though Senator, that all these things you describe, Biofuels, Wind, Solar, Hydrogen, Geothermal, Clean Coal, are more than a decade plus away. WE NEED NEW OIL NOW! While we drill now, we can then be producing the technology and the alternative resources that you seem to agree with. New oil, WILL create new jobs, lower prices, and create a freedom that this country has not seen in recent years. Meanwhile, sure, we should work on these other alternatives, but we need a REAL answer NOW, not pipe dreams.

What is the Republican response according to this piece? Last paragraph. {Smile]

Republican leader Mitch McConnell cautioned this week against taking "half measures." The Kentucky lawmaker said conservation alone isn't enough and it's essential to increase domestic oil production.

Truth is simple and easy to understand. Is it not?

Be right back for part Two.
Peter
