We All Wear Masks

Not Just Politicians

Hey folks,

I just have to comment about the news as of late. We have Obama trying to hide who he is, McCain trying to be who he is not, and Clinton, well, just being Clinton. Some are completely surprised at this sudden turn in popularity and draw of Barack Hussein Obama. All of a sudden, some people are starting to question, who is the REAL Obama.

Then you have McCain. McCain is going around saying that he is a Conservative. We all know from his past record, he is not. I have pointed to many different things in the past that puts McCain on just about an even Liberal playing field as the other two.

Hillary? Well, aside from borrowing pick ups and attempting to show that she can relate, she is pretty much herself. A Socialist that wants to run this country as a Dictator.

But these are politicians that will, I know, hard to believe, but will, say and do anything to be elected. But do not be surprised by this. This should surprise no one. We ALL wear masks. Even you.

For ten years I was a Manager in the Hotel Industry. My job, make the guests happy. No matter what kind of day it was, no matter what my mood, personal thoughts on the particular guest, I had to turn on the smile. Empty at times yes. But I had to turn on the smile and the charm.

When I worked in Corporate investigations with Chief Rowley, he use to always say, "Live your life as if someone is watching and you will ALWAYS do the right thing. Chances are, there IS." This is true. This is how most of us live our lives.

Very few people really show their true selves to more than one or two people. Most show what they THINK others want to see, or how they would like to be seen. Few are actually true to themselves.

Look at the Internet. Most people hind behind fake names and fake personas. They create a person they wish they could be. Or a persona that they have fun with for any number of reasons. It removes self responsibility. But as you get to know someone in person, eventually, their real selves become known.

We act differently in school or work, than we do with our families. We act differently with close friends than we do with acquaintances. When dating, we put on a whole other mask. Problem is, as time goes by, our true selves always come through. Then our relationships either fail, based on the persona, or they succeed based on who we really are.

The Politicians are courting us. They want us to chose them to take to the big dance. However, due to the fact that this is an extended primary process, longest in history, their true selves are starting to become known. That is good for us. But this should be no surprise, for we all wear masks.
Peter
