Get Hillary To Quit
Hey folks,
Happy Thursday to you. I just said THIS yesterday morning.
"Make no mistake about it, although there will be a renewed push on the Superdelegates to end this thing, no one is going anywhere but to the Democratic Convention.
The Superdelegates are in a no win situation. If they vote for Obama, the Clinton backers will vote for McCain. If they vote for Clinton, along with being called Racists, the Obama people will vote for McCain and then you have the talks about riots in the streets. "Re-create 68.""
Well, well, get this from the AP - Analysis: Democrats quietly send word to Clinton it's over
Apart from George McGovern, a plainspoken man who knows something about losing elections, not a single Democrat of national stature publicly urged Hillary Rodham Clinton on Wednesday to end her campaign for the White House.
They didn't have to.
There was no shortage of other ways to signal, suggest, insinuate or instigate the same thing. And certainly no need to apply unseemly pressure to a historic political figure, a woman who has run a grueling race, won millions of votes and drawn uncounted numbers of new Democratic voters to the polls.
Instead, many Democrats preferred to say softly what the party's 1972 presidential nominee said for all to hear. Barack Obama has won the nomination "by any practical test," McGovern said.
"Hillary, of course, will make the decision as to if and when she ends her campaign," he added. "But I hope that she reaches that decision soon so that we can concentrate on a unified party capable of winning the White House next November."
That is one of the fears that they have. That this extended blood fest between Obama and Clinton will result in a fractured Democrat party and a CLEAR win for McCain. But I told you the OTHER reason. They, the Superdelegates cannot win this. No matter WHO they chose.
"I think that it would be inappropriate and awkward and wrong for any of us to tell Senator Clinton when it is time for the race to be over," said Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill, speaking on a campaign-sponsored conference call with reporters.
"This is her decision and it is only her decision. And we are confident that she is going to do the right thing for the Democratic nominee. We are confident she will help work hard to unite our party."
{Laughing} Did you catch that? She just said. "And we are confident that she is going to do the right thing for the Democratic nominee."
That means it ain't her. {Laughing}
Sen. Chuck Schumer, a staunch supporter of his fellow New Yorker, said, "It's her decision to make and I'll accept what decision she makes." Asked about her chances of still capturing the Democratic nomination, the normally loquacious Schumer fell silent.
But I bet he's talking to her behind the scenes.
Other Democrats preferred to speak more freely, but only on condition of anonymity. They, too, said that Tuesday's primaries in North Carolina and Indiana had effectively sealed the outcome.
They predicted an acceleration in the pace of superdelegates to his side — he gained four during the day, to two for Clinton. And wondered about her ability to raise sufficient campaign funds — she disclosed having loaned herself another $6.4 million in recent weeks, despite an earlier boast that 80,000 new donors came to her aid after she won the Pennsylvania primary on April 22.
Clinton's arguments for staying in the race were disappearing.
But WAIT. Her response to all this? According to the AP - Clinton vows to press on as time, options running out
"I'm so happy to be here in West Virginia and excited about the next week as we campaign here in this beautiful state about our country's future," Clinton told an audience at Shepherd University.
She planned to return to the state Thursday, then fly to South Dakota and Oregon, which also have upcoming contests.
Also Wednesday, aides disclosed that Clinton had lent her campaign $6.4 million since mid-April, on top of a separate $5 million loan in February. She contributed $5 million on April 11, $1 million on May 1 and $425,000 on May 5.
Folks, I told you, she is not going anywhere. Remember, her and her Husband made over a hundred million dollars. She has her own money to keep going. Trust me, keep going she shall.
I love this line by Clinton.
"What we have not been able to count on in the last elections are the voters that I'm getting," she said.
Yeah, "Operation Chaos" voters. {Smile} She is also working behind the scenes to have Michigan and Florida votes and delegates count. She said this.
"This is really about fundamental fairness in recognizing the legitimate votes of two important states that Democrats have to try to win in November.
I think that there are a number of ways to resolve this, but it does need to be resolved, and it needs to be resolved in an equitable way that people will accept. You've got to figure out how to seat the delegates from Florida and Michigan that is a reflection of the votes that they cast; because those were legitimate elections, and they does he need to have those votes counted."
Because they voted for HER folks. She was all for the DNC's plan to forbid Florida and Michigan to seat their delegates when she thought she was the "guaranteed" nominee. But now that it is looking worse and worse for her, She DEMANDS that they be seated?
I'll stick by what I said yesterday. "No one is going anywhere but to the Democratic Convention."
See you tomorrow for From the Emails Friday.

Hillary is not in this for the good of the US. Hillary is in this for Hillary.
She's nothing but power hungry.
I'm surprised the American people can't see that.
To me she's a disgusting example of American womanhood.
Hey Bill,
"I'm surprised the American people can't see that."
So am I. It amazes me every time I point out her OWN WORDS and her OWN ACTIONS, to some people and they look at it in a completely blind stupor. They just cannot accept that a Socialist Society could ever happen here.
Their minds cannot wrap around the possibility that someone could not only want, but be in position do actually MAKE that happen here.
It can. It will. With the wrong person in the White House. The wrong people in Congress. Hillary IS the wrong person.
