IWA For Sunday 121309

Another Multi Winner

Hey folks,

I just can not decide again, who was the biggest Idiot of the Week. With Obama and Crew, all their insane agendas, and the State Run Media praising every move they make, it is HARD to choose. So this weeks winner is no stranger to the award.

His name? Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. So now we have to ask ourselves, "Why this time?" Is it all the lies he keeps telling to attempt to pass Obamacare? Is it all the lies he keeps telling to try to pass some kind of Cap and Tax? Is it the fact he says "Screw You" to the American People on a daily bases? Could it be that he wants to "Hush Rush" and implement the "Fairness Doctrine?" {Barring Free Speech}

Nope. He or course would qualify for all those things, but I just love this one. He has come out and said COUNTLESS times, that we MUST pass Obamacare, Bailouts, Cap and Tax, Tax Increases, uh, oh yeah, Senate Raises, or the World is going to end tomorrow. Then what does he do? Uh, time out. "I have to go for a fundraiser this Weekend." {Laughing} Well THIS is not sitting well with, well, ANYONE.

Controversy Over Reid Fundraiser Exemplifies Need for Fair Elections

WASHINGTON, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The controversy over Sen. Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) request to delay weekend votes on the omnibus spending bill purportedly to attend a fundraiser in New Orleans exemplifies our broken campaign finance system, two national campaign finance watchdogs said today. The groups criticized the money-driven political system which forces elected leaders to spend too much time fundraising when they should be addressing the critical issues that face our country.

"As Congress works to fix our ailing health care system, Sen. Reid appeared ready to delay Senate proceedings to jet off for a $1,000 a plate fundraiser," said Nick Nyhart, president and CEO of Public Campaign. "Our leaders should be solely focused on what's best for the nation without having to worry where their next campaign check is going to come from. Campaign cash and fundraising events prevent Congress from fully tending to the people's business, and that has to end."

Worrying about where their next Campaign Check is coming from IS their whole purpose of being.

"That the leader of the US Senate would even consider delaying Senate proceedings and negotiations on an issue as important as health care reform, reportedly to attend a fundraiser, speaks volumes of the constant pressure that members of Congress are under to raise money for themselves, their colleagues and their political party," said Bob Edgar, president and CEO Common Cause. "We need a Congress that is immune to the pressures of fundraising and that serves the public interest. It's time to pass the Fair Elections Now Act."

On Thursday, Sen. Reid requested that debate on the omnibus spending bill be delayed, pushing back negotiations on health care legislation even further. He had previously told his colleagues to be prepared to debate health care legislation every weekend until Christmas. Republicans quickly jumped on the request, noting Reid's weekend fundraiser in New Orleans. Reid admonished his colleagues, saying he would never reprimand his colleagues for attending a fundraiser, as reported in The Hill this morning.

The Fair Elections Now Act (S. 752, H.R. 1826), sponsored by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.) would create a voluntary system that combines small dollar donors with limited public financing. Under the proposal, candidates would be free from the campaign money chase, able to focus on our nation's challenges instead of dialing for dollars. The House legislation currently has bipartisan, cross-caucus support of 120 representatives. Learn more at www.fairelectionsnow.org.

I'm not all that sure that it would not be a GOOD thing for this to Pass. Right now in our Political system, unless you are, or are funded by a Millionaire, you have NO CHANCE of winning office. That is hardly a Government by the People, For the People.

Anyway, off the soap box, CONGRATULATIONS Harry Reid, you ARE the Idiot of the Week. Even people that normally support you, think you are an Idiot.

Hey, who knows, if enough people get tire of Politics as usual, MAYBE, just MAYBE, the Republicans will go back to their Conservative Roots, and the Democrats will become Sane once again. Liberalism will actually be something to believe in, and MAYBE, just MAYBE, we can have a Government run by the People, for the People. Working together for what is TRULY best for ALL Americans, embedded in the Constitution, and Freedom for ALL. OF course, that would mean people like you Senator Reid, will have to step aside.
