Remember when Hillary was all but guaranteed to step in and take over, she was talking about the use of Executive Orders. I even posted a whole article on them.

Sometimes, Congress cannot agree exactly how to implement a law or program. In effect, this leaves the decision to the federal agencies involved and the President that stands at their head. When Congress fails to spell out in detail how a law is to be executed, it leaves the door open for the President to provide those details in the form of Executive Orders.

President Clinton lifted them soon after he occupied the Oval Office and it wouldn't be surprising if Obama did the same.

Bush used his executive power to limit federal spending on embryonic stem cell research, a position championed by opponents of abortion rights who argue that destroying embryos is akin to killing a fetus. Obama has supported the research in an effort to find cures for diseases such as Alzheimer's. Many moderate Republicans also support the research, giving it the stamp of bipartisanship.

On drilling, the federal Bureau of Land Management is opening about 360,000 acres of public land in Utah to oil and gas drilling. Bush administration officials argue that the drilling will not harm sensitive areas; environmentalists oppose it.
"They want to have oil and gas drilling in some of the most sensitive, fragile lands in Utah," Podesta said. "I think that's a mistake."
80 percent of the American People WANT This. Do you think Obama will listen to 80 percent? "But he said he was for Drilling." Yeah, and you really believed that?
Two top House Republicans said there is a willingness to try to work with Obama to get things done. But they said to expect Republicans to serve as a check against the power held by Obama and Democratic leaders in Congress.
"It's going to be a cheerful opposition," said Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind. "We're going to carry those timeless principles of limited government, a strong defense, traditional values, to the American people."
But with Executive Orders, they can do nothing. Congress can do nothing. YOU, the American people, can do nothing. Just wait folks. He'll do something that even YOU will not like. Give him time. I am totally convinced now that Obama must really be a radical, because you put "radical" in shoutcaps. If you call him that, in capital letters, then it's definitive: he himself has no say in the matter.
It doesn't really matter that Obama's never called himself a "socialist" or "radical." And it doesn't really matter that he's never espoused ideals or acted in ways that are socialist or "radical" or even very extreme (at least not to moderate non-partisans). It doesn't really matter that he campaigned and convinced the majority of moderate, independent voters in this nation on a platform that was not in the slightest socialist or radical.
Nope. None of that matters. Because what matters most is that Peter and other folks at his own extreme end of the political spectrum (who apparently feel that anyone to the left of John McCain is a "socialist") are able to put letters together to spell labels that they can associate with Mr. Obama.
They can even put them in SHOUTCAPS!
This approach of labeling and mocking and making much out of silly unimportant details is surely much more important and persuasive than, say, actual analysis of issues.
The sad thing is, Peter, that I think you have begun to believe your own propaganda. I think the far rightwing has gotten so insular -- with its own special little inbred, self-reinforcing world of special conservative media that continually reassures you that you are a hapless victim of evil "liberals" and "socialists" and whatever -- that it is no longer capable of perceiving the common reality that the rest of less partisan, more moderate humans experience.
I think this election is pretty clear proof of this: voters -- especially moderate and independent voters like myself -- soundly voted against yet more of the same superficial rightwing politics of labelling and fear and hatred and divisiveness. I certainly have my concerns about Mr. Obama -- which I have made very plain here during the past few months. But when I compare Obama's more positive, issue-focused approach to rightwing fearmongering that he is a secret muslim socialist terrorist, there simply is no real contest. With Mr. Obama's election, it feels like the adults are finally back in charge, and we can actually get down to work and deal with real problems -- instead of superficial crap.
Your rant here makes incredible accusations that all assume secret, hidden motives on Obama's part that you have absolutely no evidence for and no way to prove. They simply amount to the same sort of tired, generic demonizing (like calling any conservative a Nazi) that is all too easy to do. For example:

What evidence do you have for such an extreme statement? Dictator? All that you say here assumes a secret, hidden motivation unannounced by Obama -- but which yet somehow Peter has access to. Unless you can explain to us what magic you use to get inside Obama's head and find goals that there is absolutely no external evidence for, clearly we are out of the realm of logic here. This is just magical wish-fulfillment.
In other words, this is just simple "Demonizing of One's Perceived Political Other" 101.
Likewise, it is mystifying to any reasonable person how you can berate Obama for planning merely to issue executive order, and try to make the very idea sinister and (somehow, it's not logically very clear) Constitution-defying -- when you never issued a similar rant against Mr. Bush for issuing executive orders. It is hard to imagine someone with less respect for the Constitution than Mr. Bush; I think that having one of the top Constitutional law scholars in the nation (Obama's Constitutional law prof at Harvard calls him that) as President will pretty much ensure that the Constitution is honored more than it has been in a long, long time.

As for me saying anything about Bush using Executive Orders, I DID! I do not like Executive Orders at all. They are dangerous. They should be completely abolished no matter who the President is.
No Kwix, I even did a whole article, that I'm pretty sure you saw, where I congratulated Obama and said that we all need to give him a chance. Then I saw THIS about Executive Orders. Do you think he will use an Executive Order to reverse the People's Will to ban Gay Marriage? He is against Gay Marriage, but he said he was against messing with Constitutions as well. So I guess we will have to wait and see.
