World food Prices Reach Record High Levels

Thanks in Part to Obama and the EPA. What this article DOES NOT TELL YOU.

Folks,

Notice Gas is at $103.00 a Barrel. I know, you probably have no idea. But you DO know that it is costing you near $3.50 a Gallon. Then add this cost to the harvesting, Processing, Transporting, and Selling Products of ANY kind, you see the cost on everything going up.

But that's not the worst of it. Remember back on August 24, 2010 E15, Liberal Dreams Have Consequences

So you may have heard, the E.P.A. is considering raising the maximum blend of ethanol in unleaded gasoline from 10 percent to 15%. Great. So what's the problem? No one knows how it will effect the Engine, Pollution, OR the World Food Source.
I reminded you about the Food Riots and told you how this was guaranteed to cause even more. Then you add in the fact it has not even been tested?

Then on Tuesday, November 09, 2010 EPA, One of Many Things, Needs To Be Reeled In we talked about how Obama and the Kooks in Congress, do not have enough Votes to get some of the things he wanted Passed. Now he has even less. So?

So what to do, what to do? Give the EPA, nearly unlimited power to do it for ya. This way when it hits the fan, you can say, "Hey, wasn't me, it was the EPA." If there is to be a GREAT back lash to it, then Obama and Crew could come in for the rescue, and attack the very TOOL that they are using to get Cap and Tax. Get the point?
Keep all this in mind. According to the AFP - World food prices reach record high by Dario Thuburn – Thu Feb 3, 12:11 pm ET

ROME (AFP) – World food prices reached their highest level ever in January, the UN food agency said on Thursday, as economists warned chaos in Egypt could push prices up further and foment more unrest in the region.

Rising food prices have been cited among the driving forces behind the recent popular revolts in north Africa, including the uprising in Egypt and the toppling of Tunisia's long-time president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

And in its latest survey, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said its index, which monitors monthly price changes for a variety of staples, averaged 231 points in January -- the highest since records began in 1990.

"The new figures clearly show that the upward pressure on world food prices is not abating. These high prices are likely to persist in the months to come," said Abdolreza Abbassian, an economist for FAO, which is based in Rome.

The Index rose by 3.4 percent from December -- with big increases in particular for dairy, cereal and oil prices. The rises were most significant in China, India, Indonesia and Russia, data from FAO's monthly report showed.

Capital Economics, a consultancy in London, blamed extreme weather conditions last year and added: "The resulting increases in food prices have contributed to social unrest in many countries, including in Egypt."

The consultancy warned of a vicious circle in which the crisis in Egypt could raise prices even further since other Arab governments were beginning to restrict exports and stockpile food supplies to prevent similar unrest.

"Even if the crisis in Egypt eases soon, the actions taken by governments elsewhere to prevent similar uprisings in their own countries will add to the upward pressure on global agricultural commodity prices," it added.

The FAO's Abbassian however said some countries had become better at managing price shocks after a series of food riots in 2007 and 2008.
Do you remember them? Why? They stopped making Corn for people to EAT, because the Government started giving them Money to grow Corn and Wheat for Ethanol.

"They have learnt from previous episodes," he said, adding: "There are a lot of factors that could spark turmoil in countries and food is one of them."

The FAO data showed that prices for dairy products rose by 6.2 percent from December, oils and fats gained 5.6 percent, while cereals went up by 3.0 percent because of lower global supply of wheat and maize.
WHY is there a lower Global Supply of Wheat and Maize? Ethanol Production. Now they want to INCREASE Ethanol to E15, that takes MORE Wheat and Maize. More for this ridiculous "Green Dream" and less for FOOD.

"The increase in prices follows stronger export demand during the last month and concerns about tightening supplies of high quality wheat. The market was also supported by higher oil prices and a weaker US dollar," FAO said.

Meat prices remained broadly stable due to a fall in prices in Europe caused by last month's scare over dioxin poisoning in eggs and pork in Germany, compensated by a slight increase in export prices from Brazil and the United States.

Chris Leather, a policy adviser for international aid agency Oxfam said the news "should ring alarm bells in capitals around the world."

"High global food prices risk hunger for millions of people," he said, calling for concerted international action to prevent price volatility.

He also urged countries to "avoid repeating the mistakes of the past when countries reacted to spiralling prices by banning exports and hoarding food."
How about letting Farmers FARM for FOOD. Not Fuel. How about that?

Oxfam blamed the price rises on reduced production due to bad weather, increased oil prices making fertilizer and transport more expensive, increased demand for biofuels, export restrictions and financial speculation.
STOP!!!I stand corrected. Oxfam DOES blame, blended in here with everything else, increased demand for Biofuels.

The FAO data showed the Food Price Index averaged 200 points over the whole of 2008, at the height of the 2007/2008 food crisis. The index breached that level for the first time in October 2010 with 205 points and kept rising.

The report showed that Somalia and Uganda have been particularly hard hit in Africa and that the ongoing unrest in Ivory Coast has helped push up prices in West Africa as a whole because of its status as a key transport hub.

But the most dramatic rises were seen in Asia, with a surge in prices across the board in India due to "unseasonal rains" during the harvest season "which resulted in severe damage to the summer crop and supply shortages," FAO said.
Look folks, here in Florida, we have times where we get cold snaps. At times, they hurt Crops. So the Price on Oranges, or this or that, go up a bit, until all can regulate itself. All around the World, we have Rain, Dry spells, Frost, ETC. Some years are bad for Crops, some are good. When we have an abundant, Prices fall.

However, when the Government comes in and tells Farmer Green, "We will pay you to NOT farm. We will pay you to give US your Corn and Wheat, we need it to make E-15. Besides, you do this, it's GUARANTEED Money. If you go to market, no one will buy your Product for what we are willing to pay." What do most Farmers do? Starve or take the sure thing? You better believe it. They will do what they need to, to support their families. Don't blame the Farmers. Blame those who are TRULY responsible. Liberals and their tendency to be quick to dream, yet slow to think.

Global Warming Bunk Risks Farmers Lives

Hey folks,

Here is another example of how the bunk, junk science, and scam or Global Warming is BAD for people. The Chicken Little crowd will do anything for money, power and control. They will scam you into their religion, and convince you, YOU are doing the right thing by following them. Yet, they have no consideration whatsoever of PEOPLE.

First we had the whole “Aerosol destroying the Ozone” thing. Now, they don’t know about that. It may not be that bad. Then it was MSG, now diseases once all but gone, are coming back. Then Asbestos, no real evidence that there is a REAL danger. Now the Shuttle launch is a death watch.

So here is the latest. AP -EPA approves 1-year use of pesticide By RITA BEAMISH, Associated Press Writer

The Environmental Protection Agency gave the go-ahead for one-year use of a new agricultural pesticide Friday, saying its own scientific review overrides health concerns expressed by more than 50 chemists and other scientists.

WE say it’s OK, so to hell with any opposing opinions.

Methyl iodide, also known as iodomethane, will be allowed to control soil pests "under highly restrictive provisions governing its use," the EPA said in a statement.

"When used according to EPA's strict procedures, iodomethane is not only an effective pesticide, but also meets the health and safety standards for registering pesticides," the agency said.

Methyl iodide was developed by Tokyo-based Arysta LifeScience Corp. as an alternative to the widely used fumigant methyl bromide, which has been banned under an international treaty because it depletes the ozone layer. Like methyl bromide, the new product, to be sold under the name MIDAS, kills off weeds and soil pests before planting a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.

YOU CANNOT DESTROY THE OZONE! You folks know what creates and maintains the Ozone? The SUN. If we were to destroy the Ozone, we would have to put the Sun out.

The EPA said its decision was based on four years of risk assessment studies, constituting one of the most thorough analyses ever completed by the agency for a pesticide registration action.

"The agency concluded that there are adequate safety margins and the registration of iodomethane does not pose unreasonable risks," the agency said. Last week, however, a group of 54 scientists, including six Nobel Prize winners, sent a letter to EPA urging that the pesticide not be registered for use because of the potential danger to pregnant women and children, the elderly and farmworkers.

That’s right folks, not ONLY Farmers, but YOU. You could be at risk from this according to MANY other Scientists. But the EPA does not care about that. They are saving the planet from “Global Warming.” Get this.

California's Department of Pesticide Regulation lists the chemical as a carcinogen and also had expressed objections. Officials have said that whatever EPA's action, use of the new product in California would not be possible before the state concludes its own review in a year or so.

It could KILL you. But as long as we protect the Ozone, so be it.

The approval brought immediate reaction from critics. "It will put farmworkers, farmers and rural families at risk," Erik Nicholson of the United Farmworkers of America said in a statement with the Pesticide Action Network of North America. He said the EPA instead should "focus on alternatives that don't view us as disposable human beings who can risk cancer and miscarriages in the name of supposed economic gain."

It’s not just about economic gain, it’s about the religion that is Global Warming and appeasing the disciples that follow it. It’s about political correctness. It’s about the envirofreaks. Those that have always put “Mother Nature” ahead of Humans.

Robert Bergman, a University of California chemistry professor who was the lead author on the scientists' letter, called the EPA's decision outrageous.

"I think its pretty clear these guys never had any intention of taking our concerns seriously," he said. "They have intended to approve this stuff from day one and we were just a bump in the road. "

Yup.

In a letter Friday to Bergman, EPA Assistant Administrator Jim Gulliford said the EPA's scientific analysis had taken into account their concerns and the agency concluded that its risk assessments "are realistic and demonstrate adequate protection for the most sensitive individuals."

Gulliford said the one-year registration will allow for re-evaluation of methyl iodide after new safety measures are put in place for other agricultural fumigants currently under review by the agency.

WAIT So, OK, I have a question. If this is so safe, then why not just approve it? They have only OK’d one year use. Then they will “re-evaluate.” So what would be an acceptable number of people getting sick or dying? But then again, Cancer and other sicknesses usually take more than a year to develop, so they will use it for a year, then say, see it’s safe. But what about 5 years? 10 years?

EPA scientists spoke this week by telephone with Bergman and two other signers of the letter, who repeated concerns about the lack of specific tests evaluating danger to the developing brains of fetuses and infants.

They do not care.

Conditions the EPA is imposing for use of the product include use of government-approved respirators for workers applying the fumigant, buffer zones around the fields to protect bystanders and five-day restriction on anyone entering the fields after the chemical is applied.

{Laughing} THAT sounds safe.

Friday's action came after the government postponed a decision last year and again held off last week after receiving the scientists' letter.

Farmers who grow crops such as strawberries, tomatoes and peppers have been struggling to find alternative products that work as well as the banned methyl bromide.

Critics said use of methyl iodide is complicated by its combination with chloropicrin, another soil fumigant that sickened some 125 farm workers who breathed it last week near Reno, Nev.

It really is simple, just like all the other things that the Chicken Little crowd has been able to pull off, this will be a mistake also. People will die from this. All in the name of the Global Warming Bunk.
