Increased Taxes By Dems, Go Figure.

Hey folks,

Special Saturday edition of the OPNTalk Daily Article. On my way to the show. Why is there any surprise? Why is there any surprise they lied? Are you FOR H.R. 3996, the Temporary Tax Relief Act of 2007? Have you even heard of it? The house passed it 216-193. Listen to this by Pelosi on the House Floor.

“Thank you, Mr. Rangel, thank you so much for your leadership in bringing this important legislation to the floor. It enables us, as Members of Congress, to plant a flag for fiscal responsibility. To plant a flag for the middle class in our country and to plant a flag for competitiveness, to keep America number one.”

Go figure that as well, Charlie “Tax them all, Trillion dollar Man” Rangel is behind this latest tax HIKE. By the way, listen how she USES Veteran’s Day and the troops AGAIN to push her agenda.

“This legislation is important because it provides long overdue middle-class tax relief. Preventing a tax increase that will fall upon the middle class come this next year. The bill is about tax fairness, it's about fiscal responsibility, and again, it's about keeping America competitive.”

No it isn’t. It INCREASES taxes.

“When we talk about fiscal responsibility, it unfortunately always seems necessary, after listening to my Republican colleagues, to set the record straight. The Democratic Party is the party of fiscal responsibility. When President Clinton was President, his four final budgets were in surplus. He left office with a budget that was on a trajectory of $5.6 trillion in surplus. Sadly, the Bush Administration reversed that, taking us to over $3 trillion in deficit, a swing of about $10 million. A swing that is greater than anyone has ever seen in history, in terms of fiscal responsibility. And what did the Congressional Budget Office, under the Republican leadership, say was the leading cause for that? Tax cuts for the wealthy. Don't blame it on the war. Don't blame it on anything other than what it really was. Tax cuts for the wealthy.”

Are you buying this? Really. I’m asking. What a complete and utter, blatant, and outright LIE. She is so delusional that she may ACTUALLY believe this garbage. The tax cuts IMPROVED the economy far greater than at ANY TIME in Clinton’s 8 years. Bush inherited a RECESSION. Oh and Wars cost money. {Sigh}

“And so today, we see a change. Tax cuts for the wealthy under the Bush Administration and a Republican Congress paid for by the middle class. Today we reverse that. Tax cuts for the middle class. Paid for by the wealthiest people in our country.

And as we give this tax break, who is getting it? Think of it: 23 million middle class families are protected from higher taxes due to the alternative minimum tax; 30 million homeowners will receive property tax relief; 12 million children will benefit from the expanded child tax credit; 4.5 million families will get help affording college education.

This is in addition to our earlier investment of the largest expansion of college affordability since the GI bill in 1944. Thousands of our men and women in uniform will receive tax relief under the earned income tax credit. They were prohibited from qualifying for that because our Republican colleagues would not disregard combat pay in that consideration. So fiscal responsibility, tax cuts for the middle class, and competitiveness for our country.

This weekend, as we go into observing Veterans Day, we all know the great debt of gratitude we owe our veterans. For their service to our country, their sacrifice, their patriotism, the sacrifices they and their families are willing to make. What they have done with veterans over the generations have done is to protect our democracy. Essential to the success of a democracy is, though, a thriving middle class. And this legislation is in furtherance of supporting that middle class and therefore supporting our democracy.”

STOP. Did you catch THAT? She just said that Veterans are middle class. I guess it goes back to “Getting stuck in Iraq because you are uneducated and have no future” Can’t POSSIBLY be any “upper class” people in the Armed Service. They are too civilized for that. {Laughing} She just completely categorized Veterans as mere middle class that need help.

“In keeping with our pay-as-you-go rules with no new deficit spending, this legislation will ensure that our children will not inherit a legacy of debt. In terms of competitiveness, this legislation extends the R and D tax credit, a new markets tax credit among other things. But I mention those two because they're directly related to our Innovation Agenda, our commitment to competitiveness to keep America number one. So again, fiscal responsibility, favoring the middle class, keeping America competitive and number one.

Democrats are committed to putting middle-class families first. The choice is simple: Tax relief for millions of middle class families or protecting tax loopholes, the Wall Street loophole, that allows a privileged few to pay a lower rate than America's teachers, firefighters, nurses, doctors, police, and our men and women in uniform fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It's about the people who are the backbone of America. The choice is a simple one. Today we Democrats say: 'Join us in voting in favor of America's middle class.' I urge the passage of this legislation. Again, I commend the distinguished chairman and the distinguished chairman of the subcommittee, Mr. Neal, for their leadership. My colleagues, I'm proud of the courage that you have shown to protect our middle class and to do so in a fiscally sound way and in a way that keeps America competitive, honoring the service of our men and women in uniform, to build a future worthy of their sacrifice.”

{Laughing} This is UNBELIEVABLE folks. OK, Now lets get real. My buddy Roy Blunt said this.

“Leave it to this majority to take a bill that's supposed to extend temporary AMT protection to the middle-class, and turn it into a bill that imposes a permanent tax of $81 billion on our economy. But not only is the policy at the center of this legislation irresponsible, the political games Democrats have decided to play in advancing it will prove equally devastating.

After all, this is a bill the Senate wants nothing to do with, and one the president would veto if ever given the chance. The longer Democrats wait to work with Republicans on producing a genuine AMT fix, the greater the chances as many as 50 million Americans will experience significant delays in receiving their tax refund checks. This is money that many people depend on, and budget for, to meet basic needs for themselves and their families. But if we can't get a real patch through by next week, those delays - according the IRS - will be impossible to avoid.

Republicans believe in providing tax relief across the board, as an end in its own right. Democrats may also believe in cutting some taxes for some Americans, but only if it means they're allowed to raise taxes on everyone else. As the deadline for action rapidly approaches, Democrats must put forth a real plan to save 23 million Americans from the indiscriminate net of the AMT. They can do that by passing a clean AMT patch before the Thanksgiving break so the president can sign it into law.”

I want you to get this.

“The longer Democrats wait to work with Republicans on producing a genuine AMT fix, the greater the chances as many as 50 million Americans will experience significant delays in receiving their tax refund checks. This is money that many people depend on, and budget for, to meet basic needs for themselves and their families. But if we can't get a real patch through by next week, those delays - according the IRS - will be impossible to avoid.”

I do. Do YOU?

This is a bad bill folks. This IS a tax increase. The Americans For Tax Reform released the following about Congressman Robert Andrews (N.J.-1}, Congressman Ben Chandler (Ky.-6th), and Congressman Brad Ellsworth (Ind.-8th). Word for word the same except the names and States represented involved.

Today, Congressman Robert Andrews (N.J.-1) broke the promise he made, in writing, to the voters of New Jersey's first district. This latest tax hike was the third bill of the 110th Congress that violates the Taxpayer Protection Pledge monitored by Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). The tax-hike plan, badly misnamed the “Temporary Tax Relief Act of 2007,” passed 216-193, largely along party lines. Congressman Robert Andrews (NJ-1), one of only four Democrats in the House to sign the pledge, chose the Charlie Rangel tax-hike agenda over his pledge to New Jersey.

Andrews voted to increase numerous taxes while temporarily changing who is targeted by a particularly onerous part of the code called the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT). ATR and House conservative leaders have called for scrapping the AMT altogether.

Unfortunately this was not the first time Rep. Andrews has violated the Pledge he made to New Jersey's first district, according to ATR. “Congressman Andrew's word is worth nothing now,” said Grover Norquist, president of ATR, a Washington-based group that argues against the type of tax hike Andrews championed today. “We are open to a view other than that Rep. Andrews lied his way into office, but I'm not able to explain it otherwise at this point,"”Norquist added.

“His constituents really should ask him what was the point of signing a pledge he never had any intention of keeping,” Norquist said.

Along with H.R. 3996, two other bills were rated by the taxpayer group as violations of the pledge. The two bills are: H.R. 6, “the CLEAN Energy Act of 2007,” and H.R. 2419, the House Farm bill.

“You don't temporarily 'patch' an awful tax increase with more tax increases,” Norquist said. “You scrap the whole law. You don't fix continue bad policy, you eliminate it.” Unfortunately for New Jersey taxpayers, Rep. Andrews now combines a penchant for overtaxing his constituents with a complete lack of honesty, ATR reports.

“"I hope New Jersey taxpayers will join me in calling on Rep. Andrews to finally act like his word to his constituents is worth the paper his Pledge is printed on,” Norquist concluded. ATR is a non-partisan coalition of taxpayers and taxpayer groups who oppose all federal, state and local tax increases.

Folks, call your Representatives, and let them know, you are not stupid. You KNOW this is a tax hike. An 81 BILLION dollar tax hike. This is just another example of what we will get in 08. Now, this will go no where. Like Blunt said, the Senate wants NOTHING to do with this, and they do not have the votes to override a veto. But this is who they are. More taxes, lying, using children and the Military as pawns to further agendas.

See you tomorrow.

Are these the same democrats who come election time try to void votes from our military people time after time?

Bottom line even though I am an independent I seem to be more and more on the republican side of the issues.

I have seen the lies of the democrats and no I do not find the republicans to be angels and I have noted that the democrats have done nothing but battle the republicans because they are still hurting because their side lost the last two presidential elections.

Democrats=taxes and if any one thinks spending will go down under democrats they are naive.

The spending may be shifted but it will still increase for programs dedicated to ensuring that there is a class of people who depends on them to live.
