GREAT NEWS!

I guess appropriate being so close to Easter.

Hey folks,

I have great news. I went to see a Specialist. He is said to be the best one in Florida and one of the best in the country. I do not have permission to use his name, so we will call him Dr. K.

Dr. K took some time to spend with me. I arrived at his office at 10:30 am and did not walk out the door until 12:15. Other than about 10 minutes to fill out some paperwork, Dr. K was with me. He did some strange things, like look at my hands and fingers, pulled my leg, {Literally} poked and prodded. We went over the Cat Scans and ALL of my, my Mother's, Father's, and GRANDMOTHER'S Medical history. We talked about the other Doctors I have been seeing, the medication I WAS taking, and my job and exercise routine.

He then just stopped. He looked at me and said, "You know Peter, there is NO Doctor on the face of the planet, including me, that can diagnose you with Emphysema or COPD with out a breathing test and a very specific Blood work up."

He told me that he was not impressed at all with the swollen Lymph Node. He said what he sees in the first one is that at the time I took it, I had severe Bronchitis and the second looks like Walking Pneumonia. He said that he does see a birth defect in my lungs. He said I have had it my whole life and most likely, although COULD, most likely will not get worse than it is now. Then he gave me the GREAT NEWS.

He said, in all his years of experience, my age, my exercise routine, and my over all physical condition, he would be MORE than surprised if I have EITHER COPD or Emphysema. I'm going to be taking that Breathing Test and the Blood thing, but he feels that I keep NOT Smoking and doing all the things I do, in the long run, I "will be just fine."

He then said this. "OK. Now that you just found out that you are not going to die tomorrow, do NOT go buy a pack. OK?" {Laughing} I asked why the head aches, tiredness, and other various problems, he said, "You already know the answer to that. It's your Obstructive Sleep Apnea. We need to do something about that as well, but let's take care of this thing first. Let's make sure that I'm right. But OSA will wear your body out. You are not getting enough sleep, nor are you getting enough oxygen. Therefore your immune system is down, your tired all the time, and you get the head aches."

So OK. First thing first I guess. But I DO THANK Dr. K. I thank him very much. For his time, expertise, and his {what seemed to be} genuine concern.

I also want to thank all of you for your concern, Prayers, and kind words. I really DO appreciate each and every one of you. "good info, Peter. A "heads-up", if you have asthma along w/copd-emphysema, as i do, lvrs is not an option. Prayer, exercise, quit smoking, but most of all - Prayer. So far, it has had the most benefit."

Well it worked for me Ellen, and I will say a special Prayer for you. Thank you Jody, Barb, Jane, BTN, and all of you. Each and every one.

With this GREAT NEWS, and my family encouraging me to get back to what I love to do, I will be coming back to the OPNTalk Blog. I will try to begin THIS Sunday 4-11-10 for the Big Sunday Edition. Oh thank you Justin, I will be posting that this Sunday. I'm not the only one following this closely. Peter will be interested in this as well I'm sure. {Smile} Most likely not liking it, but facts are facts.

H.S. Potential cure for HIV

I have absolutely NO idea why this has not been more widely reported. I do have a theory, which I will share with you in a minute, but this is GREAT news. In the Health and Science segment this week we will look into a promising new breakthrough that may ACTUALLY be a cure for HIV.

According to Daily News {Sri Lanka} -Potential cure for HIV discovered

US: In a breakthrough that could potentially lead to a cure for HIV infection, scientists have discovered a way to remove the virus from infected cells, a study released Thursday said.

The scientists engineered an enzyme which attacks the DNA of the HIV virus and cuts it out of the infected cell, according to the study published in Science magazine.

The enzyme is still far from being ready to use as a treatment, the authors warned, but it offers a glimmer of hope for the more than 40 million people infected worldwide.

Keep that number in mind. 40 million people.

“A customized enzyme that effectively excises integrated HIV-1 from infected cells in vitro might one day help to eradicate (the) virus from AIDS patients,” Alan Engelman, of Harvard University’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, wrote in an article accompanying the study.

Current treatments focus on suppressing the HIV virus in order to delay the onset of AIDS and dramatically extend the life of infected patients.

The researchers engineered an enzyme called Tre which removes the virus from the genome of infected cells by recognizing and then recombining the structure of the virus’s DNA.

This ability to recognize HIV’s DNA might one day help overcome one of the biggest obstacles to finding a cure: the ability of the HIV virus to avoid detection by reverting to a resting state within infected cells which then cease to produce the virus for months or even years.

Not if they have found the way to completely remove it. Folks, there is currently no cure for AIDS. We know that HIV can lead to AIDS. If we can stop HIV, could this not drastically cut down on AIDS itself? Of course it can. It will.

So why is this not being reported as much as it should. Front page on news papers world wide? Well, two possibilities. They one most will tell you, and the one I will share my thoughts on.

First. As this article pointed out “The enzyme is still far from being ready to use as a treatment.” They do not want to get people's hopes up, if it fails to actually work. It’s just a theory. So is embryonic stem cells, but that’s a whole other issue.{Smile}

Reason possibility number two? 40 million people. That is a lot of drugs, continued care by Doctors and care givers, Government assistance, ETC.

Did you know there is a VERY small group of Scientists that claim they have the actual cure for Cancer? You did not hear about this? Yes folks, NATURAL cures. Herbs and Fruits. Things you can get today.

So why are these breakthroughs NOT widely reported? Imagine a world where HIV was cured tomorrow. Where Cancer is gone. Like the sicknesses of the past. Imagine the flow of imaginable cash being cut off.

“That is completely ridiculous Pete. No one wants to keep Cancer and HIV around. They are trying to find cures for them. You cannot say it’s about money. They cured those diseases of the past. Why would they not do it today?”

Excellent question. Think about it. You already know the answer. Those diseases of the past were CONTAGIOUS. A lot of them through the air. Cancer? HIV is contagious, but not on as broad a scale. In a lot of cases, HIV, it contracted by ones ACTIONS. Get the point?

At any rate, this is GREAT news. I hope this becomes reality, and they, the 40 million people, actually are able to be cured and go back to living a normal and sickness free life.
