Media Matters Not A Unbiased Media Watchdog?

"Wow, I never knew. I thought they were an unbiased media watchdog group."

Hey folks,

I really have nothing to add to this. At all. With one exception. This is no surprise. But it's good to see others reporting the FACTS about this Liberal Attack Dog Group. You WERE being Sarcastic, Right? Here it is. It's a little long but well worth the read. It's from The Daily Caller - Media Matters wants a fight, but can’t take a punch By Vince Coglianese - The Daily Caller Senior Online Editor

After facing down more than a month of tough reporting, David Brock’s Media Matters for America still has nothing to say for itself. The progressive messaging group has all but clammed up about its internal turmoil under a constant barrage of scrutiny from conservatives and liberals alike.

It’s been a little over a month since The Daily Caller published the beginning of an investigative series examining the inner workings of Media Matters. The reporting, bolstered by first-hand knowledge from sources familiar with day-to-day activities in the group’s Washington, D.C. offices, revealed close coordination with the Obama White House, a slew of favored — and receptive — mainstream journalists, intense erratic behavior by Brock, a Glock pistol illegally carried by Brock’s assistant and consequence-free sex in the office’s media war room.

TheDC also revealed an extensive list of left-wing foundations that bankroll the group’s operations. Those findings showed the organization’s use of Bernie Madoff-exposed assets, the receipt of a donation specifically earmarked for targeting religious media, and a laundry list of big-name progressive foundations, including the Tides Foundation, George Soros’ Open Society Foundations and MoveOn.org, among many others.

In that same time frame, Fox News reported that Brock had to sell his Rehoboth Beach, Del. home to pay his former domestic partner $850,000 in what Brock called “blackmail” to keep him silent about details purportedly devastating to Media Matters.

Additionally, Media Matters’ foreign policy department has risen to become the group’s greatest public liability, with senior fellow MJ Rosenberg under fire across the political spectrum — and in the pages of The New York Times — for being “virulently anti-Israel,” according to liberal Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz.

A report published Monday by TheDC showed that Media Matters’ foreign policy associations include a tangled relationship with Al-Jazeera, a Qatar government-operated television network with an anti-Israel — and arguably anti-American — editorial posture.

Amid all this fallout are serious questions about Media Matters’ ability to maintain its tax-exempt charitable status with the IRS, with the White House and senior Democrats aligning themselves closely with the organization.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has even promised his voice — regardless of the consequences of political ties for Media Matters’ favored tax status — in helping to promote the organization’s latest anti-Fox News book, “The Fox Effect.”

That tax status, TheDC learned, began to face scrutiny from Republican members of Congress in mid-February.

Through all this, Media Matters has been extraordinarily quiet, publicly answering only a single question regarding a 2009 Media Matters internal memo suggesting the group hire private investigators “to look into the personal lives” of Fox News employees.

“I could not care if a Fox News person was cheating on their wife. That doesn’t matter,” Media Matters’ Executive Vice President Ari Rabin-Havt replied to TheDC during a book event. “We don’t dig into people’s personal lives, no.”

Beyond that claim, Rabin-Havt dismissed a Daily Caller reporter as a “troll.”

“I generally make a policy not to respond to trolls, basically,” he said. “I’m not going to respond to an article that’s basically filled up with just crap. There’s no point getting into a match back and forth with The Daily Caller, and that’s why we chose not to respond.”

Neither Brock nor his group’s spokeswoman, Jess Levin, has returned a single request for comment from TheDC.

Additionally, Brock has avoided nearly all national media outlets while promoting his book, “The Fox Effect,” giving him ample cover from facing tough questions.

The lone exception came late Tuesday night in the form of an op-ed appearing prominently on the home page of the news website Politico.

In an opinion column, Brock went back on the offensive against conservative radio talker Rush Limbaugh, complaining about his treatment of a Georgetown Law School student and contraception activist on Feb. 29. Limbaugh referred to Sandra Fluke as a “slut” on his show that day, and later apologized for his choice of words.

Brock’s Politico op-ed came 20 days later — and long after countless other liberal commentators had tired of attacking Limbaugh and his advertisers — in what amounted to a safe toe in the water that gave Media Matters a higher profile without addressing the widespread charges against it.

Brock was at least once offered, and refused, an invitation to appear on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” on Feb. 19. “We asked Media Matters to make someone available,” host Howard Kurtz told viewers on that day’s broadcast. “David Brock is not able to come on — the founder of the group — because he’s got a book coming out next week,” he explained.

During that program, when challenged on why Media Matters hadn’t yet responded to the reports published by TheDC, Kurtz responded, “Well, we’re going to give them that opportunity, perhaps next week.”

That opportunity never came, and it was not for a lack of trying.

A producer for “Reliable Sources” accidentally reached out to TheDC to confirm Brock’s appearance on the Feb. 26 broadcast. But that invitation was later retracted, according to Kurtz.

“In the end we wound up not inviting him because we had too much other news to deal with,” Kurtz told TheDC via email.

As to why Brock hasn’t even appeared on the liberal MSNBC to promote the book, the network did not return TheDC’s request for comment.

MSNBC may have some incentive for maintaining distance from Brock. A source within his organization originally told TheDC that Media Matters took credit for “pretty much writing their [MSNBC's] prime time.” The network’s president, Phil Griffin, made himself readily available to phone calls by Media Matters staff.

Politico, among the few national outlets to speak with Brock for his book tour, published a playful interview with him on March 13. The questions, ranging from “tell us your favorite joke” to “how often do you Google yourself?” are the same asked of every guest in the publication’s “Answer This” series.

Reporter Patrick Gavin told TheDC that he offered Brock the interview on Feb. 7, “before the Daily Caller thing ran [on Feb. 12].” Gavin said Brock’s answers were emailed back to him on Feb. 22, ten days into TheDC’s investigative series on the group.

Brock was also on MSNBC host Ed Schultz’s Feb. 21 radio show, where he took a cursory question regarding TheDC’s reporting.

“We haven’t responded,” Brock said. “Reuters [columnist Jack Shafer] said that The Daily Caller piece was ‘bad journalism and lame propaganda,’ and we don’t feel like we need to respond to that.”

It’s a drastically different PR strategy for an organization whose founder once published an open letter challenging Fox News host Bill O’Reilly to an on-air debate in an effort to defend Media Matters and George Soros, the liberal financier who would eventually become a major contributor to the group.

According to the Dec. 16, 2004 letter, O’Reilly had previously dismissed Media Matters as a “far left, deceitful, disgusting website” composed of “‘character assassins’ and ‘despicable weasels.’”

“You once offered your viewers your definition of the word ‘coward,’” Brock responded in the letter. “On the January 5, 2004, O’Reilly Factor, you declared: ‘If you attack someone publicly, as these men did to me, you have an obligation to face the person you are smearing. If you don’t you are a coward,’” he recalled.

“Well, Mr. O’Reilly,” Brock continued, “you have attacked me publicly on numerous occasions, and you refuse to face me. You, sir, are a coward — by your own definition of the term.”

“Should you continue to refuse this offer,” Brock concluded, “it is only reasonable that the American people will conclude that you are not only — as you would put it — a ‘coward,’ but a hypocrite as well.”

Beginning in February, Fox News has devoted extensive coverage to the challenges facing Media Matters, but none of those reports have elicited a response from the oft-pugnacious media monitoring group. Even the “Fox Attacks Media Matters” video round-up — featured prominently on the MediaMatters.org homepage — has gone dark, with the last clip dated February 8, 2012. The organization’s coverage now excludes dozens of once-meticulously documented mentions of Media Matters on Fox News programs.

Additionally, Media Matters has not published a single entry on its website challenging the many news stories released over the last month about its own operations.

Media Matters did not return a request for comment for this story.
They are nothing more than Bullies. You know what happens when you stand up to a Bully? They run and hide. They are typical Libs. They Lie, cheat, and steal. They have no ability to actually engage in an Intellectual Debate on their Positions. They simply attack. They follow scripts. They follow orders. They can not stand up to scrutiny. They can not deal with the TRUTH. I love it. Their little Bubble is bursting, and they have no idea what to do.

Have a great Weekend folks. See you Sunday.

Why Liberals Hate Fox News

Some are PAID to.

Hey folks,

Happy Hump day to ya. Since 2006, I Have Told You the Media IS Controlled George Soros IS the MMD Guru. {Mass Media Drones} He owns and controls much of what they do and say. All the way back on October 20, 2006, I posted this. Getting Closer To Unmasking The Mass Media Guru. I talked about the Word or Phrase of the Day. I told you about the secret morning conference calls with Howard Dean and George Soros.

I even had some fun back on Friday, March 06, 2009 Rush Limbaugh Admitted He Was Wrong, I Was Right where I posted this.

RUSH: "Now, I have said in the past, long ago, in discussing media bias, that I don't think that the old media and the drive-bys got together and had their conference calls in the morning to decide what news was going to be and how it was going to be reported, what wasn't going to be news and all that, I said because they don't have to. They basically think the same, they see things the same, and I think if they do get together it's in the bar after work over adult beverages where such unified phrases as gravitas and other things happen to spread throughout the Drive-By Media."
Then he admitted he was wrong and pointed out ABC's The Note that disclosed the morning conference calls. Rush was wrong and I was right the whole time. {Smile} Just kidding folks. I love Rush. Anyway, time went on and I pointed out more and more examples that Soros DOES indeed control the Media.

So what about Fox News. They are NOT owned nor controlled by Soros. Therefore Soros wants to destroy them. You see, the old Media can no longer get away with controlling what the "people" hear and see. They no long control the News and the Narrative on, well, anything. You have the NEW Media. Talk Radio, The Blogs, and of course, Fox News. You have many on the Left that want the "Fairness Doctrine" in shut down Talk Radio. Obama already CONTROLS the Internet and Congress has given him the Authority to Shut DOWN whatever Site he deems as a Security Threat. Did you miss that? Now Soros is Spending MILLIONS to attempt to take Fox out. This from the MRC / Business and Media Institute - Nearly 30 Soros-funded Media Operations Part of 'War on Fox' Liberal 'echo chamber' reverberates with attacks on network. By Dan Gainor

Last of Four Parts

To hear the left tell it, Fox News has a "history of inciting Islamophobia and racial and ethic animosity" and tries to "race bait its viewers." One staffer is called a "hit man," while his network is accused of "attack politics." A highly questionable study is hyped by numerous outlets claiming that it "confirms that Fox News makes you stupid." Fox is called simply: "The Liars' Network."

Sure, liberals have it in for Fox News, but that deep-seated, anti-Fox agenda isn't just an organic response from the left. It's a George Soros-funded "echo chamber" "in which a message pushes the larger public or the mainstream media to acknowledge, respond, and give airtime to progressive ideas because it is repeated many times." That's how the strategy was described in a report by the Soros-funded Media Consortium called "The Big Thaw."

The goal is "Taking Down Fox News," as "Mother Jones," a member of the consortium, described it in a headline. That article, about another Soros-funded operation called Color of Change, explained how "it successfully urged several advertisers, including Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and RadioShack, to pull their ads from Beck's show." In all, nearly 30 organizations have attacked Fox News in the six months since the beginning of December, 2010.

Think Progress, the heavily Soros-funded blog for the Center for American Progress, slammed Fox more than 30 times in six months. AlterNet, an especially unhinged liberal outlet, went after the network at least 18 times in those months. It is one of 45 organizations aided by Soros' support of the Media Consortium - "a network of the country's leading, progressive, independent media outlets."

These outlets are all part of Soros' web of media organizations that mirror his view of Fox as their enemy. That's the way he describes it in the new book, "The Philanthropy of George Soros." "Those in charge of Fox News, Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes, have done well in identifying me as their adversary," he wrote. "They have done less well in the methods they used to attack me: Their lies shall not stand and their techniques shall not endure."

That anti-Fox agenda is reflected in plans by another group in Soros' pocket to target the network specifically. Media Matters founder David Brock said his Soros-funded operation ($1.1 million) will "focus on [News Corp. CEO Rupert] Murdoch and trying to disrupt his commercial interests."

This information is part of an upcoming report by the Media Research Center's Business & Media Institute, which has been looking into George Soros and his influence on the media.

The left hating Fox isn't new. But the efforts of the different groups take on an amazing similarity. Take the University of Maryland study that seemed so critical of Fox News. The study itself included this nugget: "This suggests that misinformation cannot simply be attributed to news sources, but are part of the larger information environment that includes statements by candidates, political ads and so on." That didn't stop any of the groups from using it against Fox News. AlterNet, Washington Monthly, Think Progress and The Nation. It quickly moved into the mainstream media from there.

That's just part of Soros' influence. He denies having a media empire, despite spending easily more than $48 million on that empire and having top journalists from more than 30 major news organizations serving on the boards of groups he funds. It reaches at least 180 media organizations, and many other groups he funds include a media component in what they do.

In the case of Robert Greenwald, he's turned attacking Fox into a mini-industry. Greenwald is founder and president of Brave New Films, also part of the Soros-funded Media Consortium. Greenwald was also behind "OUTFOXED: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism," The site for the movie that argues: "FOX News is on a witch hunt. Fight back." The Brave New Films site has an entire section going after Fox called: "When Fox Attacks." It claims: "Videos from this campaign have been viewed over 8 million times."

When Soros was criticized by Fox, multiple pieces of the Soros Empire responded. In one case, Jonathan Schell, a fellow at The Nation Institute, another part of the Media Consortium, made Fox News out to be anti-Semitic for criticizing Soros. An opinion piece titled, "The Protocols of Rupert Murdoch," a reference to the infamous anti-Semitic "Protocols of The Elders of Zion," blasted Glenn Beck.

Schell claimed Beck's criticism of 'the financier and philanthropist George Soros' in effect "recycles, almost in carbon copy, the tropes of the most virulent anti-Semitic ideologues." The column was distributed by another Soros-funded entity, Project Syndicate, which reaches "462 leading newspapers in 150 countries," with a monthly circulation of 72,815,528.

It's that sort of cooperation that makes the Soros-funded "echo chamber" successful. Go on AlterNet and find articles from The Nation, a rant by Robert Greenwald or an interview by Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! Or go on New America Media's site and find an article from Color Lines.

The content from the 180 media sites that Soros helps support can be linked, cited or reposted, adding to the sense that there is strong interest in any particular "progressive idea." It's just one more way George Soros influences the media.
For all the links and other Three parts, got to MRC and check it out. Well worth the Read. The more and more we learn who the MMD really is, the more and more we see that nothing seems REAL at all. But then again, we already know that the Liberal Lonney Left do not deal in Reality anyway. This is why it is more important than ever, to look around YOURSELF. See what you see. They tell you the Economy is getting better? What do YOU see? Apply Logic and REASON to what you see. Check out the NEW Media. Do the FACTS add up to what they are telling you? Obama is doing GREAT? Do the Numbers back that up? ETC. It is more important than EVER to think for yourself, and understand that AMERICA itself is at stake in 2012. Don't not let the Corporate News control what you think and do.

More Evidence, You Get It Here First.

Hey folks,

It’s Friday! I do not have that much time today, but I wanted to point out a fact. I get this question, in different forms, from time to time here. "Why do you just repeat Conservative talking points?" the answer is always the same. I do not simply repeat talking points. Here is more proof that sometimes you will hear me say something others are saying, and sometimes you get it here first.

If there is big news, or something of importance, of course everyone is talking about it. Of course like minded people will be talking about and even seem to sound just like each other, when discussing a top story. So what am I referring to today? George Soros.

A friend of mind asked me yesterday, "Did you hear Bill OReilly on the radio today?" I said no, I did not even know if I could hear him here in Sunny Florida. My friend told me I could and where to find him, then said, "He did a whole thing on how Soros is dangerous and the fact he owns the media. He seems to be attempting to BUY the next President."

Folks, I have been telling you for a LONG time that there was a Mass Media Guru. Do a search here and you will find a lot of references to that. I told you they write what they are told to write. Back on October 20, 2006, I wrote this.

Getting Closer To Unmasking The Mass Media Guru.

Hey folks,

That’s right. Just 18 days away from the elections, are we are ever so close to unmasking the Mass Media Guru. I have mentioned him for a while. Actually, on June 9, of this year I said,

"As I’ve said before, I’m sure that there is a mass media drones guru behind the curtain, giving out the word or phrase of the day. Actually, I like that, mass media drones {MMDs} Today the magic word is multiple 500 pound bombs. The guru wants them to use this as much as possible to put the image of a massive, over needed, use of force against a house. Then he wants them to conjure up the imagine that there is some kind of cover up. Then on top of that, make sure that you throw in there, innocent people dying."

I have given many examples. Like their use of "Towel snapping", "Collective Punishment." "Katrina", and my all time favorite, if there was any doubt, it was done away with "Political Jujitsu." September 8,

"Oh and the Guru word of the day seems to be "jujitsu", for those that might have missed that. Over and over again, in various outlets, "jujitsu" seems to be the definition of the President’s announcement. But no, they do not work together."

Now Rush Limbaugh has never believed this. He has always said,

"Now, I have said in the past, long ago, in discussing media bias, that I don't think that the old media and the drive-bys got together and had their conference calls in the morning to decide what news was going to be and how it was going to be reported, what wasn't going to be news and all that, I said because they don't have to. They basically think the same, they see things the same, and I think if they do get together it's in the bar after work over adult beverages where such unified phrases as gravitas and other things happen to spread throughout the Drive-By Media."

But I have been right this whole time. Rush pointed out to me, and everyone else in his listening audience yesterday, ABC’s "The Note." Guess what it says?

"The Old Media -- giddy with excitement over the prospect of the Bush-Cheney-Rove-Mehlman machine losing, filled with guilt over complicity in an Iraq war it wants ended, flush with anticipation over two years of anti-Bush leaks from a gavel-wielding Henry Waxman, and substantially more interested in revelations about congressional pages than in trying to tell voters the truth about whether or not the economy is strong and getting stronger -- can barely contain itself on its secret morning conference calls with Howard Dean and George Soros, during which it was agreed just this morning that, yes, we can keep the meta-narrative ('The Democrats are going to beat Bush and run Congress!!') going for another 19 days, without interruption."

WAIT A SECOND!!! "secret morning conference calls with Howard Dean and George Soros" The media is having morning conference calls with Howard Dean and George Soros? Then it says, "during which it was agreed just this morning that, yes, we can keep the meta-narrative ('The Democrats are going to beat Bush and run Congress!!') going for another 19 days, without interruption." The media ADMITS that they get their walking orders from Howard Dean, and or George Soros? They ADMIT that they have an agenda to get the LWL in power?

If I had to bet, at least between these two, I would bet that, the little man behind the big black and white curtain is none other than George Soros. Could HE really be the MMD Guru? It makes sense.

Even Rush had to admit it yesterday. He said,

"But now, having read this from ABC's the Note, I'm obviously wrong. These people are obviously having conference calls with Democrat fund-raisers, policy makers, and the chairman of the Democrat National Committee to discuss the Democrat narrative and how the Drive-By Media can continue to carry it for 19 days uninterrupted. So I guess they are getting together. That's what this implies. Maybe I should better say, "That's how I infer this." The old media giddy with excitement over two years of anti-Bush leaks from a gavel-wielding Henry Waxman?"

Yes Rush. The MMD or as you would say, the "Drive By Media" do have a guru. His name might just be Soros. This is why Democrats and the LWL get away with ANY and EVERYTHING, while a Republican, with so much as of a hint on improprieties, front page news for an extended period of time. Foley is still in the news today.
18 days to go folks. Get Ready. Go Vote.
Peter

Also in January 23,2007, I wrote this. Dems To Be Controlled By Soros?

Do not bother checking the link to "The Note" they have since removed the article. Sean Hannity did a whole story on Sunday, linking Soros to Moveon.org. Basically, he owns it. Just like a lot of others in the Mass Media. Make no mistake about it Soros IS dangerous. Just keep in mind, they report to you what and HOW they are told to. You got it here first.
