My Analysis of Rick Santorum on Rush Limbaugh

Analysis and Comments

Hey folks,

If you are a 24 - 7 Member of Rush Limbaugh's Radio Show Website, you can go back and LISTEN to the entire Interview. Close your eyes. Picture Santorum's Voice being deeper and more, uh, Bombastic. You would think Rush was talking to himself. I swear to you, he sounded just like Rush himself. Some Highlights

Santorum : "We're at risk of losing what this country has fought for for 200 years, and I believe the linchpin in losing that is Obamacare. You know, Rush, that Lady Thatcher said after she left office and reflected on her career, that she was never able to accomplish in England what Ronald Reagan did in America, and she said that she blamed the British national health care system. What I said yesterday, or two days ago, was that once the government has an ID line to you, and they can withhold nutrition and withhold care, they can get anything out of America. They can grow bigger and bigger and more powerful. I just feel like we have to stop Obamacare, and I think we need a candidate who can be crystal clear on that and has a strong record on not just health care but on limited government and I believe that I can bring that to the table and someone who's been a very strong, consistent conservative over the years."
Oppose Obamacare, want to repeal it. Point for Rick.

Santorum: "I don't claim to be a Tea Party person because obviously I've been involved in politics for quite some time, but for really for the same reasons the Tea Party people decided to come out of the woodwork. I really decided to come out of my wood works and get back involved in this because I have seven children, Rush, and I think my duty to them is the same duty that my grandfather was to me which is creating -- to make sure that we pass on -- a country that's free and I really do believe that's at risk in America. I think this election is the most important one since the election of 1860."
So against Card Check, Cap and Tax, and of course Obamacare. He is a Tea Party person even though, he is a Politician. He believes as they do on most things. Point Two.

Santorum:"Freedom. I really can't stress enough how I believe that Obama's view of America... I always use this quote that said in response to the Ryan budget. He was talking about Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and he said that, you know, America's a better country because of these programs then he went on and said, "I'll go one step further: America would not be a great country without those programs." That man does not understand what makes America great. What makes America great was a government that was founded to be limited to doing one thing. I really believe the whole purpose of America, the aspirational value -- why everybody who wants to come to this country wants to come here -- was because we respected the dignity of every living person. Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. It is to protect life and liberty. That is what America is all about. It's not to take care of people, but it's a belief that free people -- if given the opportunity to provide for themselves -- collectively we can build a much greater society. We can build a society that's a good and decent society, if government just stays out of the way and creates an atmosphere for opportunity, protects us from outside forces and creates a level playing field for all of us to be able to achieve in our lives."
FREEDOM! Smaller Government. Point three.

Santorum: "Yeah. Look, I believe as you heard, "We're endowed by our Creator with certain rights: Life, liberty..." I mean, America is a moral enterprise, Rush. The idea that Republicans can win elections if he go up there and just say, "All we care about is money..." People don't care... Of course we care about our jobs, we care about money, but we care about our families. We care about our communities. We care about, you know, the dignity of life; we care about living good lives that add to the greatness of this country, and the idea that we can have limited government, Rush, without strong families?

The family is the first economy. If the family breaks down, well, government gets bigger because of the consequences of family breakdown. We see in the neighborhoods where there are no marriages and there are no two-parent families. You can't ignore the reality that faith and family. Those two things are integral parts of having limited government, lower taxes, and free societies. We are either gonna be constrained by internal controls, internal restraint on our behavior or we're gonna be restrained by external restraints -- and when people say, "We can live free and people can do whatever they want to do," show me an example of that in human history. It doesn't work.

So I am gonna talk about it. Look, I understand, you heard me say, Rush: The most important issue is obviously freedom and repealing Obamacare and getting government out of people's lives, lowering taxes and creating growth -- and you know that I was a leader on welfare reform. I was the guy that led the charge in the US Senate and actually wrote the bill when I was in the House. I was the guy that actually helped end the federal entitlement. I embraced the Ryan plan and said it's a good first step and frankly I would go even farther than that, and I'm out talking about all the important issues of the day, but you can't ignore the entire picture, and I don't think Americans want us to ignore the entire picture either."
God and Family. Points Four and Five.

Santorum: "The reason I was able to win before is because people, while they didn't always agree with me, they knew where I stood and they knew that I did what I believed was right and that I stood for what I believe in, and they could trust me even though they didn't necessarily agree."
A uniter not a divider. He DID win Four out of five Elections in Democrat Land. Not bad. Point Six. Global Warming? You know, what killed Romeny?

Santurom: "I believe the earth gets warmer, and I also believe the earth gets cooler, and I think history points out that it does that and that the idea that man through the production of CO2 which is a trace gas in the atmosphere and the manmade part of that trace gas is itself a trace gas is somehow responsible for climate change is, I think, just patently absurd when you consider all of the other factors, El Nino, La Nina, sunspots, you know, moisture in the air. There's a variety of factors that contribute to the earth warming and cooling, and to me this is an opportunity for the left to create -- it's a beautifully concocted scheme because they know that the earth is gonna cool and warm. It's been on a warming trend so they said, "Oh, let's take advantage of that and say that we need the government to come in and regulate your life some more because it's getting warmer," just like they did in the seventies when it was getting cool, they needed the government to come in and regulate your life because it's getting cooler. It's just an excuse for more government control of your life, and I've never been for any scheme or even accepted the junk science behind the whole narrative."
GLOBAL WARMING IS A SCAM! BIG Point Seven. He also went on to say that he was against New Taxes and Tax hikes. Point Eight. He said he was not afraid to ATTACK OBAMA. Obama IS a threat to this country and he said he was not going to shy away from calling him out on it out of fear of being called a Racist. BIG point Nine.

So my point is this. He may have said TOO MUCH of the right thing. My entire Voting History, I have never, EVER, met a Candidate of whom I agree with ONE HUNDRED Percent. No. Not ONE. He was on Rush. He understands that there are 22 Million PLUS Voters Listening and are EXSTREMELY Active. So He mimics Rush. He says one hundred percent the same thing Rush would, if Rush was running for President. Does he MEAN it? I guess time will tell.

Look, I love what he said. I LOVE the Passion in the way he said it. I AGREE with EVERYTHING he said. But somewhere, down deep in my gut, I feel hesitant to jump on the Rick Band Wagon. I can't place my figure on it. Maybe it's like the old saying goes, "If something seems to good to be true, it's probably NOT." I do not know. But he DEFINITELY got my attention.

Obama Using Crisis to Further Cap and Tax

Completely unbelievable and completely FALSE.

Hey folks,

Obama gave his historic Oval Office Address last night, talking about, and blaming BP, for this horrendous accident that took place in the Gulf. He completely lied about it, confused Facts with fiction, and used this self prolonged accident to further his agenda. It was actually pretty upsetting to watch.

Because there has never been a leak of this size at this depth, stopping it has tested the limits of human technology. That is why just after the rig sank, I assembled a team of our nation's best scientists and engineers to tackle this challenge - a team led by Dr. Steven Chu, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and our nation's Secretary of Energy. Scientists at our national labs and experts from academia and other oil companies have also provided ideas and advice.

As a result of these efforts, we have directed BP to mobilize additional equipment and technology. In the coming days and weeks, these efforts should capture up to 90% of the oil leaking out of the well. This is until the company finishes drilling a relief well later in the summer that is expected to stop the leak completely.
We have never had an accident like this in all the decades we have been Drilling. We would NOT be having an accident like this at these depths, if it were not for the Environmental Wackos that forced us to be this far out to begin with.

Already, this oil spill is the worst environmental disaster America has ever faced. And unlike an earthquake or a hurricane, it is not a single event that does its damage in a matter of minutes or days. The millions of gallons of oil that have spilled into the Gulf of Mexico are more like an epidemic, one that we will be fighting for months and even years.
"Not my Katrina. NOT MY KATRINA!!! This is BP's, you know, those greedy Oil people that make all those huge and unfair profits. It's their fault. Bush directed Katrina. I uh, I was playing gulf. There is no way you can blame me for this. We will make BP Pay."

But make no mistake: we will fight this spill with everything we've got for as long it takes. We will make BP pay for the damage their company has caused. And we will do whatever's necessary to help the Gulf Coast and its people recover from this tragedy.
Obama and Crew have turned down help from MANY that have the equipment and the know how to help this. They have denied permits to build barrier islands for WEEKS. Obama has gone on Two vacations, hosted parties and fund raisers. Uh, "do whatever's necessary?" Really? Still to this day many in the gulf coast region can not get Obama and Crew to even hear them.

First, the cleanup. From the very beginning of this crisis, the federal government has been in charge of the largest environmental cleanup effort in our nation's history
A COMPLETE and OUTRIGHT LIE! It was DAYS, Weeks, after this all started before Obama and Crew got involved. Still to this day, many in the region have no idea who is in charge. BP or Obama.

Because of our efforts, millions of gallons of oil have already been removed from the water through burning, skimming, and other collection methods.
No. Because of BP's efforts. From the beginning of this. Obama is trying to take credit for it, but that is simply not even close to the facts.

Blame BP. Blame BP. Make them pay, Blah, blah, blah. Then this.

Already, I have issued a six-month moratorium on deepwater drilling. I know this creates difficulty for the people who work on these rigs, but for the sake of their safety, and for the sake of the entire region, we need to know the facts before we allow deepwater drilling to continue.
OK 1- Deep Water Drilling is STILL going on. Not by US, but by many other countries that are Drilling.

2 - As we talked about before, this has also extended to shallow water exploration and Drilling.

Look, we already know what Obama's goal is here. He wants to get off of Big Oil all together. He said he would bankrupt the coal industry. He said that he is OK with $4.00 plus a gallon of gas. He said that under his Cap and Tax plan, your energy cost would "necessarily skyrocket." We all ready know that his Chief of Staff has already said, "Never let a good crisis go to waste." Ever wonder what they meant? Here you go.

This is completely false as well. Yet, here, he is starting to set up the whole reason he interrupted your nightly shows.

"We consume more than 20% of the world's oil, but have less than 2% of the world's oil reserves. And that's part of the reason oil companies are drilling a mile beneath the surface of the ocean - because we're running out of places to drill on land and in shallow water."
COMPLETELY False. We are out there because of Obama and his ilk, that do not want us drilling to begin with. The Environmental Wackos are the reason we are drilling so far out. There is plenty of Oil in shallow waters. Plenty of Oil on the Land. Yet?

For decades, we have known the days of cheap and easily accessible oil were numbered. For decades, we have talked and talked about the need to end America's century-long addiction to fossil fuels. And for decades, we have failed to act with the sense of urgency that this challenge requires. Time and again, the path forward has been blocked - not only by oil industry lobbyists, but also by a lack of political courage and candor.

The consequences of our inaction are now in plain sight. Countries like China are investing in clean energy jobs and industries that should be here in America. Each day, we send nearly $1 billion of our wealth to foreign countries for their oil. And today, as we look to the Gulf, we see an entire way of life being threatened by a menacing cloud of black crude.

We cannot consign our children to this future. The tragedy unfolding on our coast is the most painful and powerful reminder yet that the time to embrace a clean energy future is now. Now is the moment for this generation to embark on a national mission to unleash American innovation and seize control of our own destiny.

This is not some distant vision for America. The transition away from fossil fuels will take some time, but over the last year and a half, we have already taken unprecedented action to jumpstart the clean energy industry. As we speak, old factories are reopening to produce wind turbines, people are going back to work installing energy-efficient windows, and small businesses are making solar panels. Consumers are buying more efficient cars and trucks, and families are making their homes more energy-efficient. Scientists and researchers are discovering clean energy technologies that will someday lead to entire new industries.

Each of us has a part to play in a new future that will benefit all of us. As we recover from this recession, the transition to clean energy has the potential to grow our economy and create millions of good, middle-class jobs - but only if we accelerate that transition. Only if we seize the moment. And only if we rally together and act as one nation - workers and entrepreneurs; scientists and citizens; the public and private sectors.
One day? Wind turbines that are doing nothing. Energy efficient windows? Folks, THERE ARE NO ALTERNATIVES. NONE! There is nothing to wean our way off of Oil to begin with. NOTHING! All this is, is Obama back in his Hope and Dream mode. No facts. No substance. Just imagine if.

For those of you who thought that he wouldn't use this crisis to push the once dead Cap and Tax?

Now, there are costs associated with this transition. And some believe we can't afford those costs right now. I say we can't afford not to change how we produce and use energy - because the long-term costs to our economy, our national security, and our environment are far greater.
Never let a good crisis go to waste. Then this was just offensive to some of you out there. I understand why. I'm not offended, but I understand your feelings on this. Obama ACTUALLY BROKE OUT IN PRAYER???? Yup.

Tonight, we pray for that courage. We pray for the people of the Gulf. And we pray that a hand may guide us through the storm towards a brighter day. Thank you, God Bless You, and may God Bless the United States of America.
I have no problem with a President PRAYING. Yet, I would prefer if he MEANT it.

Folks, Cap and Tax was all but dead in the Senate. It just was. The majority of you understand that Global Warming is nothing but a scam. It is TOTALLY B.S. Bad Science, fake numbers, false information and phony predictions. The Majority of you now see it for what it is, a SCAM. We are so far in debt that we can not see the future where we are not in debt. That our Children are not in debt. Highest unemployment rate in history. People losing their homes. No one can get a loan. Things are bad out there. Then you have the fact that we learned that $4.00 a gallon, with some feel was a test, IS the tipping point. So the Senate took the house Bill on Cap and Tax, and put it somewhere in a dark corner to bring out later on. Now, Obama is dragging it out once again and putting it in front of the Senate and telling them to DO IT.

He doesn't care about the "Pain." He doesn't care if the Single Mom, who is working two jobs, just to pay for the gas to go to work, can no longer afford food. He doesn't care if the Old Lady on SS can no longer afford to heat her house. He doesn't CARE about the Environmental impact of this spill. {If he did, he would have accepted help a long time ago, and gave the Governors and locals whatever they needed to start the clean up and prevention a long time ago. He would not be flying around hosting fundraisers, and going on two Vacations} As long as all these things lead up to Government control in peoples private everyday lives? As long as it gets his Cap and Tax? Let them eat cake. Let the oil flow. As long as he gets what he wants, he does not care.

Analysis and Comments On The Open Letter by Sen Mel Martinez.

Hey folks,

OK I’m back. Here we go.

In defense of immigration bill

Written by: U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez Publication: Orlando Sentinel

June 3, 2007 -

Immigration reform is very personal to me. As an immigrant to this great country, I am a product of the American Dream. I understand what it means to stand, raise your right hand, and swear allegiance to the United States. I respect the enormity of that commitment, our traditions, and our language. I know the value of not only learning English but more importantly learning and living the spirit of being an American. As Congress moves forward with reforming our nation's immigration laws, it is essential we remember the American spirit as part of our immigration discussion.

I respect you Senator, and I welcome you. You came here legally, and did the right thing. I am proud of what you accomplished. You are not the problem. Immigration is not the problem. ILLEGAL ALIENS sneaking into the country IS the problem. Two COMPLETELY different things.

At its core, illegal immigration is a problem born of the success of our nation. The American Dream is a worldwide attraction, and many are willing to risk their lives to gather even a glimpse of it. We have a booming economy and a huge demand for all levels of labor. These realities plus our failed immigration policies and porous border have resulted in a 20-year flow of illegal immigration amounting to an estimated 12 million people. As lawmakers, it is not only our duty but our responsibility to address this problem. As a sovereign nation, we must arrive at a solution that satisfies the security of our borders.

But Ted Kennedy said that when we did this before for 3 million, it would end the problem. Now we have 12 million. We do not have a failed immigration policy, we have one that is not being enforced. We have laws already in place that is not being enforced. Let’s start doing that first before we add more, that will not be enforced.

First and foremost, the bill we are debating will make our border more secure. It calls for the completion of several specific border-security measures before any other aspect of the bill is implemented. Among the measures: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) must have a total of 20,000 border security agents; build at least 370 miles of additional and strategic border fencing and 200 miles of vehicle barriers; must create and implement effective identification tools using biometric technologies to verify identity and employment eligibility. These measures must be met or else immigration reform will not move forward.

Great! Then just pass a bill that says THAT. THEN we will deal with the rest of the mess. You see, I do not believe that this NEW policy will do ANYTHING to secure the boarder. So I say PROVE it. Pass legislation that secures the boarder FIRST. So far NOONE has been able to explain to me why we cannot secure the boarder without granting amnesty.

Our nation has record-low unemployment levels and the demand for all levels of labor remains consistently high. There are jobs for every willing American, but given the dynamic sustained growth of our economy, there still is a need for additional workers. This imbalance creates unsustainable pressure at our borders.

This is why, once certain border-security requirements are met, the bill institutes a temporary-worker program to provide the labor America desperately needs. Workers from other countries will have a clear understanding before coming here that they're coming to work for a limited period of time. Combined with the DHS identification verification system and steep sanctions against employers who hire unverified workers, the demand for undocumented workers will decrease dramatically.

How many people are STILL here after their CURRENT green cards have expired? We are not enforcing this now. What is the big difference in the new plan?

Regarding the 12 million people who are here today illegally, this bill provides an opportunity for them to come out of the shadows and for the U.S. government to know who is in our country. It is imperative we find a fair and practical solution to this problem; it is vital to our society and our national security.

One. By the way, if immigration enforcement REALLY wanted to find them, all they seemingly would have to do is put a mic or notebook in one hand and say they are reporters. They will come to you. CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, Papers galore, seem to have no problem finding them for quotes.

As a nation of immigrants, we must arrive at a humane policy that is aligned with the rule of law. Those who play by the rules are rewarded; those who break our laws will pay penalties. Under the Senate bill, illegal immigrants coming forward will be on probation; they will submit to a background check; they will agree to pay fines; they will prove employment and must maintain employment for as long as they wish to reside in our country. Failing to follow this course or failing any of the requirements will result in deportation.

WRONG. This is completely false. Once President Bush signs this bill they are LEGAL. No fines, no requirements. The only way the fines and other requirements come into play is if they want citizenship. But if they are legal, there is no reason to go all the way. Read the bill. There are NO fines whatsoever. They are just legal.

You say it rewards those that play by the rules, then you vote to allow felons to be rewarded. You see how this does not make any sense. If I or any other American citizen broke the law, we would go right to jail. These people came here illegally, break the laws, and this will reward them.

Those coming forward must be law-abiding and contributing members of our society, and they will know they are our guests. For those individuals who pay fines, maintain employment, obey the law and learn English, they can have a path forward to stay here and continue to work. If they go back to their home country, they can then apply for permanent residence and go to the back of the line as any fair system would dictate.

Then how do you explain this?

"A bipartisan immigration bill narrowly survived a potentially fatal challenge on Wednesday when the Senate turned back a Republican bid to limit the illegal immigrants who could gain lawful status. The close vote on a proposal by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, to bar felons -- including those court-ordered to be deported -- from legalization reflected the delicate position of the contentious immigration bill, which remains under threat from the right and the left." AP

For those concerned about the fiscal impact associated with border security and immigration reform, the Congressional Budget Office reported on May 23rd that the solution we have drafted "would result in a net increase in revenues of $70 billion to $75 billion over the 2008-2017 period."

Noone that I know has ever said they were concerned about the cost of boarder security. Not one. What we are concerned about is Amnesty for 12 to 20 million illegal aliens. What we are concerned about is the nations safety and security. Now if you are laying the groundwork for later to say it cost to much so let’s just forget it, that will not work either.

To those who choose to ignore the problem, call any effort to address it "amnesty," or politicize potential solutions, I would say, provide a solution; provide an idea for securing the borders, bringing 12 million people out of the shadows, and answering the labor needs of our nation.

Senator, we do NOT call ANY effort amnesty. This one IS amnesty. If you just pass a bill that secures the board, and this is DONE. Then we start talking about what to do with those here, we would most likely have a different conversation. But to say, as long as those here are considered illegal, somehow hinders our ability to secure the boarder, as Bush has said, is just idiotic.

OK, your house is flooded, and more water is coming in every second. First you fix the leak, THEN you deal with the mess in your house. You do not deal with the mess inside until you STOP more from getting in. You cannot bucket out the house with water continuously flooding in.

We, as Americans, must decide whether we want to live in a society where there is a permanent underclass of 12 million people hidden from the law, often paid less than living wages, and disenfranchised from our culture, or we can embrace the spirit that has made America so great and bring people out of the shadows, give them an opportunity to live within the law and become responsible, contributing members of our society. Those who choose humanity over divisive rhetoric will be rewarded with a country that is stronger, more productive and more enduring as we forge ahead in this great experiment of democracy.

Two and three. What am I counting? Phrases you have used to create imagery. "In the shadows" two times, and hidden once. They are in the shadows and hiding because they KNOW what they did was wrong. They KNOW they have broken and continue to break the laws. They CHOSE to hind in the shadow. It is NOT our fault they are hiding. It is THEIRS.

Mel Martinez is a Republican United States Senator for Florida and the only immigrant currently serving in the Senate.

I understand that because you are an immigrate, citizen, and even a Senator, you are the perfect one to write a letter like this. I get it. A lot of people feel that those that receive amnesty will simple turn into Democratic voters. You are an immigrate, and now a REPUBLICAN Senator at that. I get it. But you sir are the exception to the rule.

I also get the compassion that you would of course have, and many others in this country have, on this issue. I understand that you and other proponents of this bill are attempting to guilt people into accepting this. "Look how good you have it. Look at these poor folks that risk their lives to come here, just to better their own lives and families. You want the best for your kids. So do they. Basically you came right out and said it’s Americas fault.

Senator, those opposed to this bill, including I, are not bigots, racists, or guilty for the problem. We are not the problem. This would be like saying to a banker, "well, it’s your fault that you were robbed. Look at all the money you have here. The person robbing you just wanted a little for themselves. To better themselves. You have to feel compassion for them. You have to understand. If you do not get this, then you are arrogant, and hateful. We are going to pass a bill pardoning the thief and you had better not complain about it. The thief is a person too." This IS how ridiculous this all is.

It really is simple. Secure the boarders first. Then we can talk about what to do with those here. Let’s have open and honest debate. NOT backroom deals that will be "explained" after the fact. After it’s too late to do anything about it.
Peter
